  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

It's a song that gets in your head and won't leave! love it
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Back at work after a quick two days in Jacksonville. The heat and humidity and a day trip to the beach reminded me of my college days in Greenville.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

John, hope the hotel worked out ok (at least you had a pool and a great rate!). Great that you could manage a beach day too.
  • Dan's Dad (John)

The hotel was great Marcy, thanks for the advice. Emerald Isle was great, next time we may try Topsail.
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Ruthella, college WAS a long time ago. We were using punch cards for my computer classes! Kids today probably don't even know what they are. :)
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

I could list all my 'firsts' but don't want to date myself ;) first calculator, cell phone, computer...when i was a baby my mom put me in a laundry basket in the front seat. How did we survive? lol
  • mikes mom

Excuse me Ruthelllllaaaa it was Marcy's mom not Sharons...Hmmmm you must be thinking of your other group...LOL
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

It's ok, I know she loves me anyway!! ;)
  • Dan's Dad (John)

    you got a laundry basket?
  • mikes mom

Yes she does !!! We all do !!!
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Mom said I used to climb out of my crib, so she tied my leg to it with a belt!
    Lucky I didn't hang myself.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

I just looked it up and Saab was the first to introduce seatbelts as standard in 1958. So next time you're watching Jeopardy and the question comes up, you owe me!
  • mikes mom

Wow thats what I have !!!! Yeah SAAB !!!!!
  • Dan's Dad (John)

    Alas, Saab is no more.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

What color MM? they're great cars.
  • mikes mom

White with a black top ... I'm waiting for the weather to get a little warmer to put the top down...
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Here it's TOO hot to put the top down except at night!
  • mikes mom

How funny !!! I haven't been posting the weather cuzzzzzz a lot of our friends are in the thick of the Heat or Rain !!! It's been 65 to 70 here it seems and a little windy...
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Hold on to your mittens for this - it was 113 here today. I'll send heat, you send cold and maybe we'll have a decent summer! So many moms on N4M have been dealing with storms, even tornadoes, that I'm not going to complain. Just saw Bridgeport Connecticut had a tornado today. ???
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Charlotte, my son is on hold for FMTB working at the BAS. I think your son is on hold for the same class? What is he doing? They are both 2nd Marine division.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

I don't know Uli, I haven't had n4m act up. Hm. My main complaint with them is that the page numbering is opposite what it should be. Page #1 should be the first one created, making this page 76 rather than 1. What's the point of numbering at all, if you can't use as a reference point to go back and find something?? Dumb.
  • mikes mom

    Hi Guys !!!
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Don't suppose you feel like a beach day today Princess? Here, put this on... LOL
  • mikes mom

Fine ladies...hmmmm I just told hazel why don't we go to the Moss Landing Beach for a nice walk.... ugh its a sweatshirt day again !!!!
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Re BAS, you can see it on the Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) top left in the category "Entitlements," BAS is just under "Base Pay."
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

    Burial at sea...no that won't work ;)
  • mikes mom

    They really are huh!!!
  • Dan's Dad (John)

He means Battalion Aid Station. He's been spending his days at the obstacle course (he calls it Semper Fit) patching up injured Marines. He says it's pretty boring, best thing he's done so far is pull off an ingrown toenail. LOL
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

    Bingo Ruthella once again!
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Congratulations Julia and nephew! Mine graduated May 6th. Are you going to attend?
  • mikes mom

Kathy my son is apart of the 2/2
  • Dan's Dad (John)

Christine, my son starts FMTB Aug. 9
  • Dan's Dad (John)

I've been trying to figure out those dates as well!
  • Dan's Dad (John)

I thought he said Aug. 9th but that doesn't jive with these dates
  • Dan's Dad (John)

ok, so NET is no earlier than,,,
  • Dan's Dad (John)

    good guesses I think.
  • mikes mom

Susan my son just came home the end of May... He is stationed at CL and will be going back I think in the next few months...When I say this I truly think before January.... Is this your 1st deployment ?
    Uli your the best ..
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

    quick question, what is PSI?
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

haha back, I was going to say the only PSI I know is my tire pressure, but I resisted!
Regarding fitness, my corpsman graduated FMTB in May of this year. He told me they were relentless in weeding out the unfit at the outset - yanked out and made to go through two months of fitness 'rehab' so to speak before getting to class up again, which also messes up subsequent plans. So anyone headed to FMTB at CL had better get in serious shape as soon as they know they're headed there.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Can you imagine two months of nothing but workouts led by Marines?! PSI = pretty scary instructors ;)
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

    Gettin' my boots on ;)

Susan, you may find some good info at the MarineParents.com site - here is the link to their "Connect and Share" page with chat, support groups, message boards for Navy parents, & more - http://www.marineparents.com/connections/
  • mikes mom

Susan - There are a lot of good Marine groups out there... I always came to my N4Ms...But there had been times when I was so happy that I new my Marine mms too !
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

I should've said that I don't have any personal experience w/this - and surely am not selling n4m short! Geez, I don't technically even belong over here anymore! lol but the n4m group for the ship my corpsman's on is sooo quiet... :(
  • mikes mom

OMG Marcy You can't leave this group...1 Your son was at CL and isn't CL his base ? You always know where to go or you show us... Gosh I hope I didn't say anything that made you feel this way...
  • Dan's Dad (John)

    PSI = Physical Site Identifier
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Hey it's ME, princess! I didnt take it that way!!!! Just meant that Susan shouldn't think of me as one of the seasoned ones ;) My cub's based out of Norfolk now. I've got to show you all pics of the sailing, it was amazing!!
