Billie - You have to look at Cody going to Japan as a good thing .. Very positive.. He will be going to a wonderful country with all the sites he will get to see : ) How wonderful for him... You have to put everything into perspective and thank the Lord above that he isn't in Harms way.... I hope you never experience that... You have to know this is what he wants to do... He is getting wonderful training and he is no longer a boy but a man.. What he will know is more them we could fathom.... My goodness he will learn so much while he is at CL... Be proud and please don't worry about him...

I know the empty feeling your going through.. If you know he will be going to Japan after this traing feel lucky.. : ) I want you to come over to our group and get to know all the moms and the 2 dads that we have... Carol's son was in Japan for a while so you could ask her some questions.. : )

    See ya there,

    Marsha

  • Billie

Marsha - thank you yet again for your words of encouragement.  Unfortunately, he will be frequently deployed from Okinawa with the 3rd Marines.  I am praying, however, that circumstances will change because, as you said, I don't want him in harms way.  And yes, it does help to think about all of the wonderful things he is going to see and experience.  I grew up in the Air Force, so I have somewhat of an inside perspective of what military life is like.  Yes, you're right, I need to focus on the positives and bounce my thoughts away from the negatives.  :)

  • mikes mom

OMGosh I thought he was going to work in a clinic or hospital.. He is attached to the Marines... So your son went green side... I didn't know..

My son is on a ship right now and as long as he and his Marines stay on that ship I will be happy... I do a lot of praying too.. We will just do it together : )

  • merchantvillesteve

Hope to see you all down there, Im sure we will run into each other, I don't think it is as well attended as PIR
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Claire, when I attended graduation last May I counted about 225 family members.  Perhaps you could agree to carry something small like the little flags they sell at the dollar store or Walmart?  Sort of a secret sign! lol
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Steve, it goes pretty quickly and afterwards they immediately head for their gear (already packed and waiting at Four Corners) and their cars, or grab waiting cabs to share to the airport.
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Just came across this (link to website: Onslow Beach  "The Onslow Beach Recreation Area, located between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean aboard Camp Lejeune, is maintained by the Semper Fit Division of Marine Corps Community Services, for all active duty, retired military personnel, civilian employees, and their family members. The island features rental lodging units, an RV campground, an MCCS convenience store, pavilions with changing rooms, volleyball courts, a playground, and guarded swimming areas from Memorial Day to Labor Day."
  • Emilie

Yes - lets carry a flag! That sounds perfect! I would really like to say hi atleast even from a distance - know it will probably be busy. You have all been so great!

  • merchantvillesteve

Steve found out he is going with 2/10 and will get leave after graduation, 9 down and 9 back gonna be a long two days, but still very excited
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

There's a brand new group called Camp Lejeune Corpsman Wives, started by a gal new to being a Navy wife and also looking for help dealing with deployment:  http://www.navyformoms.com/group/camplejeunecorpsmanwives
  • mikes mom

You are so welcome ... I hope I see you in our group...
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Welcome Vicki!  My son graduated from FMTB a year ago this month, and I've put together a Discussion above with info about the Field Med program and graduation.  Hopefully you'll be able to go.  By the time the next eight weeks end you'll meet others here and may be able to say hi there;  we have some parents here whose corpsmen graduated a week ago Friday and they arranged a 'sign' to recognize each other  :)

Vicki and all newbies here, if you're not a member of the N4M group Corpsmen Moms and Dads, please come join us!  http://www.navyformoms.com/group/corpsmanmomsanddads

There is a sort of 'core group' of long-time members there who keep the conversation going daily, and we want all newcomers NOT to be shy but jump in., introduce yourself, and join us for 'coffee' and friendship!  The chat may seem silly at times, but we have parents with corpsmen all over the world in all jobs, and the real purpose is to be a constant community, there for each other, all the time.

  • mikes mom

Vicki - Please come on over and Join : ) We would love to meet you...

For those mothers who have cubs in the 3rd Platoon FMTB Mesailor, Vicki, Donna, etc.), do you have any notes to compare?  My cub had duty this last weekend and sent this pic (he took the photo so he's not in it)  Recognize anyone?  I also have another pic that I can share if any of these corpsman belong to you!

  • mikes mom

  • Billie

Mikes mom:  I hope so!!!  :)
  • mikes mom

I know if I saw my son or daughter gosh even a friend of theirs I would get excited.... I love the pics : )
  • Billie

They are a great looking bunch of kids, aren't they?  The young lady on the right was actually a rescue swimmer. . .she must have proud parents!!!

Donna:  I bet you are absolutely thrilled to have your cub home.  Six-7 hours is so "doable", especially if he was in Cuba.  My cub will be going to Okinawa in July, so I will be going through what you went through when your cub was in Cuba.  Any tips?  :)

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Wonderful photo!  Bet that's one amazing gal :)
  • mikes mom

I actually posted it on my FB page yesterday.. NO WORDS!!!!  I'm mad about how our men and women were treated and have been treated...
  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

Here's the story by Rachel Maddow and the video can still be viewed there: http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/06/08/6814187-delta-apol...

When I tried to view the original earlier, it looked like it had been posted by Staff Sgt O'Hair; now there's no reference to him at all.  Hope he and Hilliker aren't in trouble with the Army.
