  • OMG hes a Sailor (div180)

Brandon hurt his foot sunday, he went to get it xrayed at the Navel hosp and they could not see it well enough to say for sure it was not broken because of swelling. We couldn't stay with him at the hosp because hubby had to be working very early monday morning. His cuz who is stationed in Norfolk also came and got him at the hosp and took him back to the ship. They decided to keep him on the ship but he has to stay in his bunk....At least this is the last thing he told me before the ship set sail. I hope it isn't broken. But anyway he is on the ship and will not be able to work untill it gets better. A week or so I guess...Please pray for him. I am afraid he will GO CRAZY haveing to stay in his bunk...I hope someone has a game boy or DVD player he can borrow ugg.. Thanks ladies.
  • DonnaAnn

Hi All, Just received a call from my daughter in Bahrain on a seven month deployment.  Miss her so much.  God Bless all of our Military  Donna
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

So sorry B got hurt, so hope that he can do something besides lay in that small bunk all day, every day. That is just not good.

Donna, so glad you got to hear your daughter's voice, hoping for a safe deployment.

D is doing well, he is actually in the Chief's hall, due to them being short-handed. He was chosen to go there out of the larger mess, he is glad he is where they need him.

  • OMG hes a Sailor (div180)

I talked to a wife of the Chief of B's ship (I think that is right) Well anyway she asked her hubby about him and so she is going to pass on any info about his foot that she can get out of her hubby. So I am praying that his foot is doing better. Please help me pray for him. I know he would very much rather be cookin up the food than sitting in his bed all day!!!!
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Johanna, Is Zac on the "Big E?" I don't remember, if so he should look Diego up if he can. His real name is Kyle, last name begins with an Mal......... It is a longer name. Then he can tell him that we are chatting here and keeping tabs on them! lol I am sure he gets bored doing his job, when you are trained for something, you really want to do that. When I read that he wants to "get his hand on a piece of meat" I just laughed. Thanks, I needed that today.
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Well, the Enterprise is happening today. They are having some type of cook off on the flight deck today!! I think it is between them and another ship! That should be fun for everyone, gets them some fresh air and seeing more people. I will let you know what happens when D tells us.

Thanks Johanna, I am slow in remembering things these days.

  • Corina

My daughter got her orders today 4 years in Japan!

  • Diann CS Mom

My son just finished his first week of school. He filled out his dream sheet for California, Hawaii and Japan. I am excited for him and his new life. Hubby is already planning the trip for A School graduation. Sad that they won't be here for my birthday but we can celebrate when they come home.
  • Cheryl

Yep Corina My daughter is going to Japan also. She's on an aircraft carrier, but it is deployed right now. Not sure when she'll be headed out to sea. I'm gonna miss that girl!

  • Corina

Cheryl, we too are going to miss our girl. We are not sure of all the information either but as I get more information I will keep in touch.

  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Corina, & Cheryl wow, I hope they love being in Japan and it is a great experience for them.

It seems the single people are being sent different places and the married people, not so much! Hoping everyone gets what they have wanted.

  • Corina

In the beginning it was a shock to the system but later that afternoon I had peace and understanding. She will grow up a lot there with no family and she will have to make new friends since she won't have any from school on the ship. I believe all for a reason and looking at all the pics, it is so beautiful especially the pic where the ship is going into port. She will love it.
  • Corina

She told me last night that they graduate the 13th and then she will remain there for two weeks and then come home. I hope I got the information right because lately I haven't been hearing anything right. My brain is on overload.

  • Corina

I am happy to hear they are all in the same general area, we never know there might be a chance to see each other. That is great that they are deployed together, I know my daughter wished for that with her boyfriend but God had other plans.
  • Cheryl

Yes my daughter is on the USS GW. She reports in November to Yokosuka. NOt sure when she will be sent to the ship since it is deployed right now. Is your daughter Culinary?

  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

We are thinking of heading down to Norfolk to visit the K's over Thanksgiving break. Our other K's are off from Wednesday to Sunday, so it would be a perfect time. It will depend on Kevin's work though, we works wayyyyyy too much. Spoke with Diego today and he told me he has to work Thanksgiving day, took me back to the days when I had to work every other weekend and holiday in the medical field. Hoping we will be able to go down, they are planning on coming home for Christmas, so that will be great!
  • Corina

Cheryl, yes my daughter is Culinary so thankful because she was originally a boatswains mate. I didn't hear good stuff about it but she would have done anything as long as she was in the Navy.
  • Cheryl

Corina- Hopefully they will meet and become friends. She wasn't sure about culinary but I was so happy about it from the beginning. She likes it now, but we will see after she has been "out there" for awhile. Anyway, I'm happy to meet you. Where do you live? I'm in Southern California. Orange County.
  • Corina

Cheryl we are from Texas, Williamson County. I hope so too if they are not already friends.

  • Cheryl

Corina- My daughter is still in Virginia at A school. She graduates tomorrow and will be home for 3 weeks. Then she heads for Japan. Not sure when she will catch up with the GW as it is deployed right now, as you know. I'm looking forward to seeing her this weekend! It hasn't been too long since we saw her at BC graduation but It sure seems like it!
  • Corina

Cheryl I bet our girls are together right now. She is in Virginia at A School and graduates tomorrow. I am going to have to ask her about it tonight when I speak with her. I think they graduated the same day.
  • musicmom of a Sailor

My son went to Yokosuka at the beginning of September as a CS on the Lassen.  The ship was out of port and he was put in a barracks for a few weeks until the ship came back in.  It turned out to be great because he just had light duty and then he was free for the rest of the afternoon evening.  He got to do some sightseeing right away.  Went to Yokohama the second weekend he was there. : )
  • Junebug (Ship 2 Div 918)

Enjoy your time with Zachary!!  My sailor is getting ready to go out on deployment shortly.
  • Corina

My daughter graduated today from A school. Congratulations to all those moms whose children graduated today.
  • Junebug (Ship 2 Div 918)

Congratulations to the Navy's newest CS's!!!
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Johanna, Enjoy having Zachary home for a bit!! So cool!

    Corina, Congrats to your daughter!!

musicmom, Wow, that is cool!! Hope he gets to see some great sights while out on deployment. It is hard though as well to have him so far away, keeping all in prayers.

Junebug, HI!!! How are you doing?

  • Junebug (Ship 2 Div 918)

Sharon-- Hi! I'm good--been on Fall Break this past week so it has been nice. :)

That would be great to visit the K's over Thanksgiving. We are hoping sailor boy can get home for Thanksgiving at least. Depends on how long they are out and if he is home, can he get the time. His wife works in retail so you know she will have to work alot during that time with Black Friday. One can hope!!!

  • Cheryl

Picking up my daughter in a few hours! Can't wait to see her again. We get to keep her for a few weeks before she heads off to Japan and the USS George Washington.
  • Junebug (Ship 2 Div 918)

    Have a great visit Cheryl!!!
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Cheryl, have a great time together!!

June, glad you had some time off. I know what ya mean, the DIL works retail, that means she will have to work more than likley. Bummer!! We hope we will be able to go down, we should know in the next couple of weeks. I, for one does NOT go out on Black Friday. Actually, I dislike shopping and always have. It may be due to passing once when I was a teen at the mall. I went to visit my mom at the store she worked at, the store was really hot and all of a sudden I am waking up to my mom calling my name. Never knew why I passed out, but don't like shopping. I have gotten better about going places by myself over the years. I do better if someone is with me. lol

  • Junebug (Ship 2 Div 918)

Well, M's ship left today. I was able to watch it via the webcam at Sea Port Village in San Diego. So awesome to see that ship and those tugboats pulling it. Of course I waved at the ship (silly me) knowing M was on it somewhere. Probably cooking already--lol. I hated to turn off the webcam because then I knew he was gone. :(
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

June, sorry he has left port. How cool that you were able to watch it leave via webcam and to wave as well. :)

I will be doing that sometime next spring when D's ship leaves for one last deployment. The USS Enterprise is on her last year of service. We plan on being down there to see all of them off though, can't have it any other way. It will be sooooo hard though, not sure if Kels will come home for a bit or not. They haven't decided how things will be yet.

  • oregonmom

Hi Junebug!! I haven't been for awhile. I know it was hard to see your son ship out. Mine is still in Norfolk. Ship is getting repairs before deploying. Be strong! I wonder if Norfolk has a webcam.
  • musicmom of a Sailor

talked to my son yesterday.  It said it was funny that he is working with a CS that he remembered going to his graduation and another CS got there a month or so after he got on ship and remembered going to my son's graduation.  : )
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

music, classic for "it's a small world."

  • Ellen B

Hello everyone..haven't been on for awhile. My son's a CS on the USS Nitze DDG-94 out of Norfolk, VA. He was in Groton this past summer for Sub school, but 'disqualled'-borderline claustrophobic. He's happy no matter where he's cooking, so while he will miss a couple of CS buddies he went through boot camp, A School and sub school with, they keep in touch. I do know they will be an escort for the Enterprise next Spring on their final deployment. They are currently underway for a short stint this week. Johanna-glad you're spending time with your son, finally!
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Ellen, HI, my son is serving on the Enterprise!! He reported in early September, it is quite an honor to be on the "Big E" for her last deployment. He was the only one out of his class to go to her. So, big deal for us!! How cool that your son's ship will "escort" her as well. WooHoo!!!! Our son and daughter-in-law arrived in Norfolk right before Labor Day, he has been in for a year now and we are looking forward to seeing them when them come home for Christmas break.

  • Ellen B

Sharon-that's awesome! It definitely is quite an honor. I know my son and his shipmates all feel the same that they are accompanying them. It will definitely be an emotional "see you later" moment as they pull away. My husband and I, as well as my son's fiance' will be there that day.

  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Yes, we will be there as well. We know it is in the spring sometime, but we will be ready. It will be our first time for deployment and I know we will all have a hard time watching it pull away. We will be driving from MI. not too bad of a drive. The last time we were at VA Beach was when the K's were much younger. Go figure, that Diego is stationed there. lol
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Johanna, glad you were able to spend some great time having Zach home, and to have all boys sitting with you for dinner. That is priceless!! How cool that you will be going down on the 28th, more time!! WooHoo!!

Learned today that Diego will have sea trials in early December for the Enterprise, Diego will be able to come home after. Kels may come home before he does, not sure how things will work out. We will love having them home for a bit.

  • Corina

My girl comes home today, I am just so happy to see her for as long as I do. I will try to worry about the holidays when they get here.
  • OMG hes a Sailor (div180)

Well my sailor is back in Norfolk after being sent back because the Doc said his ankle was broken...well he got back to Norfolk and the doc said it wasn't broken so now he is in Norfolk doing some kind of office work, then he will go back to the ship sometime in Nov. He is so ready to get back to the ship. This whold situation has really stressed him out. He just wants to get to his ship and do his job.
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Johanna, You  are so right. Not sure if Kels will stay home while he is deployed or not, they haven't decided. It would save them money if she came home. We will see how things go, she may have a job and she is supposed to start school in January.

Corina, love on your Sailor and enjoy every minute she is home.

OMG, sorry to hear that B has a broken ankle. How did he do that? Hope he gets better soon and is able to get back to his ship! WIll keep him in prayers.

  • OMG hes a Sailor (div180)

He did it before he left playing in the yard, They made him get on the ship anyway and they had it xrayed when they got to the first stop. The Doc said it was broken and they sent him back to the US on a plane and the Doc in Norfolk said it wasnt broken.... So I guess he will be sent back to the ship next mth...He said it still hurts some.

  • Val-ACD-(ship 12 div 034)

Just got my son off to Norfok after having him home for 2 weeks.   He is in the barracks now but is with the USS Helena sub.      Norfolk is less than  2 hours from our home in Chesterfield, VA so we are thrilled we can visit him easily and traveling home will be cheap.     He got to eat dinner on the USS Helena last night when he got there and was excited to get in the sub and be connected with others there right away.

  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

OMG, sorry to hear that. I am sorry that one can say it is fractured and another say it's not. They truly make me wonder!! Korey fractured his heel during football practice, I take him to Urgent Care to get X-rays. The Radiologist reads the films and says "there is no evidence of a fracture". So, he still complains and I take him to a foot doctor. I pick up the films myself and look at them. You can see the fracture plain as day!! So, we get in to see the foot doctor and he puts the films in the light box. He sees what I saw and it is near the growth plate. He puts a cast on his foot and leg, gives him crutches. He has to stay off of it. Well, being the 8th grade kid that he was..............he complained that it was hurting him really bad so we go back to the foot doctor, they take more x-rays and the fracture had extended!! Korey ends up with a cast for over eight weeks, had to stop doing karate and when I take the films back to the Urgent Care office I let them know that the Radiologist needs to read them again, due to the fact that Korey just spent eight weeks in a cast!!! She girl's jaw dropped and said "really?" lol Damn doctors sometimes!!! I worked with many over the 20 years that I was in the medical field so I can say that!!! lol

  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Johanna, Have a wonderful time!!!! Can't wait to hear how things go!!
  • Diann CS Mom

Class 310 graduated today! My son passed all his tests and Dad was able to go to graduation. They are on their way to NC to fish then head home to Oklahoma tomorrow. He received his orders for the USS Blue Ridge, stationed in Japan! He is stoked about it!
  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

    Happy Halloween!!!

Congrats Diann, how exciting to have him home for a bit before he leaves for his duty station. Enjoy the time together!

  • Sharon ~ K's Mom

Johanna, glad you had a great time with Zac!

We are still thinking about going down for Thanksgiving. It would be onlly the six of us and we won't have to share our Sailor with anyone!! He doesn't get too much time for Christmas, travel time of two days and only five with us. That will be five filled days of people coming and going. Kels will be home longer, she is coming eariler than Diego, due to sea trials for two weeks prior to the holidays.
