Hi, my son just arrived to Fort Lee this last week and starts A School after Easter. He just left Great Lakes.  Thank you for the information on the school Zac mom it is appreciated. Will probably be asking more.  Not sure what date he is shipping out.

Hi I am Kristy, my son is on the USS Shoup. any other shoup moms? cute story..my son is the only person I know who did not like PB&J that is until Boot camp . Then he wrote that he would eat at least one every day and was grateful for them...Currently he is deployed and Well, .one of my go to meals at home is chicken pot pie since everyone loves it ..everyone except my sailor that is. so he tells me last week that he made chicken pot pie for the crew and they all loved it so much they insisted he try it.. he liked it! of course.LOL . but I was wondering, do you know if they have to create the menus and recipes themselves?

My son was on the USS Enterprise... and was in a few differant galleys on their last deployment... he was able to make a few things that were his own recipes. it really just depends on the command. My son is now at the main galley at NAS Oceana base. and is loving it...!!!

Kandilee- I sent you a message. Looks like they leave GL on the 13th. 

Hello all, my son has shore duty at the Naval Air base in Lemoore, CA, but on May 1st he will be going out on the USS Ronald Regan for a month.  I've kinda gotten used to talking to him everyday so someone tell me if I'll be turning back into the crybaby I was during boot camp?

Mine just got to Fort Lee.

Just found out our son will also be on the Nimitz. Any info would be great not my sons strong point. Best news is he'll be with his good friend Kandilee's son.

My daughter is a cs on the uss Nimitz. What group are you saying join Nancy(proud cs mom)? I tried to find a group but wasnt sure of which one you were referring to.

Well, my son went off to his duties in Oceana, VA at the Naval Air Force Base yesterday. I am very excited and proud for him. He text me this morning and said it is "awsome." Does anyone know of a group for over their?

I'm new to the forum.  I'm trying to get a picture of what training at Ft. Lee is like for new CSSAs.  What is NAS Oceana----is that where they train or is that an assignment?  Any information is helpful!  My son is on hold waiting to go.  I've read some of the back-posts trying to find some answers---Thank you all!

NAS Oceana is Naval Ar Station Oceana it is a base in Virginia Beach...My son is stationed there and so is a another moms... ... By the way.... PROUD MOMMA MOMENT HERE My son made Blue Jacket of the quarter, CS of the month and 3rd class....!!!!! YEAH!!!!! so proud of him

Hi! I am new here, my daughter is at GL PIR 6/21 DIV 231 Ship 14, I thought she would be A school CS right across from GL, but now I just heard no school there, it is Virginia?

Thank you for answering!  My son is "holding" in San Antonio.  He is Navy Reserve; PIR GL was March 8, 2013.  He started out in Military Police, but got changed over to CS.  He has been there quite a while!  He hopes to be leaving any day.

Hi Everyone, My son is in BC with PIR 6/21 as well. I'm reading some of the recent posts and see that maybe just maybe he won't ship out early Saturday morning after graduation and we can spend more time with him. That would be awesome! Hopefully he will know what his travel plans are soon.

Can anyone tell me how early before PIR their SR knew that they would be on hold?

Michiganbelle yes, their school will be in Ft. Lee, Va.

Michelle.... the find out the week of graduation...were they are going... but as far as when, they wont know till they graduate... my son was on hold for 2 weeks before he left for Ft. Lee.

Thanks  dtarmy06 ! Luckily we're traveling by car so adjustments aren't too major should he not fly out that Saturday. Fingers crossed that we get an extra day THEN he flies out and starts school immediately thereafter lol.

We were able to have time with Josh after graduation until he had to report in that evening.  He had to go to the airport at 2:00 am the next morning for a flight that left at 10:30 am. We were able to go to the airport to see him off.  Not much time together, but I wouldn't have missed PIR for anything!!! It was beautiful!!

We stayed at Gateway Inn and Suites and it was great!  Price was good, breakfast in the lobby was great and the coffee was Starbucks!

Josh called this afternoon---he has a leave date of June 4, reporting in at Ft. Lee, with a class date start of June 10th for CS school.

Fort Lee? Wow am I misinformed my SRs paperwork he sent home in his box said Great Lakes .Should I cancel the extra days to stay or should I wait for the Sailor call and ask him? PIR 06/07/2013

Graduation from Basic should be at GL.

My son wrote that they start the first week of A school in Great Lakes then go to Virginia as well. I'm excited because I was thinking we'd only have the hours Friday - which I was happy for - but now we'll get to spend Saturday too :).

Hello!  My son just got to Ft Lee on Sat.  He started classes today.  He said most of it was introduction.  He graduated from GL on May 10 and was held until Sat.  So far all is going well for him!

My sailor just graduated on Friday. PIR was just incredilble! Was great seeing him. Now on to phase II, CS School.  He is on hold in GL for 2 weeks. This seems to be in line with some comments below. Excited to see where he will go after that.

Hi Lisaz - I imagine my sailor will be leaving on the 29th as well. Have not heard anything concrete yet.

Johanna - Thanks for the info about Truman. I have not caught up on all the history here - but it sounds like your sailor is just finishing his journey in the Navy. Thank him for all his service and best wishes in his future endeavors!

I am anxious to see where we go from here and if they will get leave after School.

Our daughter will be at bc next week.  She signed up for CS last summer at MEPS.  Somewhere we read that A school would be at GL...but reading here it'll be in VA...sure have to keep on your toes! 

Kandilee, I love your son's reply!  And Johanna, Zac mom, thank you for the encouraging words.  Waiting to bring her to the recruiters this morning is leaving me edgy.  Maybe too much coffee? Ha!
