Lighthouse3: Great news! I will pray for his safety and success! Please keep me posted on how he is doing. My son is home right now. Graduated on 10/18 and came home that evening. He is leaving Friday for GP and ECS.
Thank you, Karen, for your prayers. No news yet. I'm so glad you're getting time with your son! Is ECS the combat training? At least he's heading some place warm (relatively). I'm so glad all went well for him and there were no injuries.
My son is on his third roommate. . . they keep graduating. :-)
Lighthouse3: Yes ECS is combat training. He will be there for 4 weeks. The good news is that GP is only 30 minutes from here so I will be able to see him when he has time off. It has been great having him home. After ECS he is heading to Port Hueneme. I remember how nervous I was the whole time he was pole climbing. I had a prayer group going for him. I will continue to pray for your son's safety and success. I bet your Son graduates and is home for Christmas! That will be wonderful!!
Thank you, Karen, for the encouragement! We haven't heard anything yet, which probably means they haven't pre-tested him yet, but I may have to call him tonight. I'm SO happy that you will be able to see your son more often during the next month. Will that include Thanksgiving?
Zellab29 my son was in Coronado for 3 years. He has been in Gulfport for almost a year now. Coronado is absolutely beautiful! He loved it except for the higher cost of living there.
Our son was finally able to begin the climbing-utility-pole block of his Construction Electrician A School again last Monday (21st.) We are thanking God that He has enabled him to make it back after three months of medical hold because of a pole-climbing knee injury. The knee is still hurting, but our son is climbing anyway. He did have to repeat one of the exercises last Friday because he was 10 seconds too slow getting down the pole, because of his knee.
Hi Seabee Moms! Our daughter made it out to Port Hueneme for A school this past weekend after an amazing PIR on Friday (she will be training as a CM). She has asked me to look into options for wifi for her laptop so I was hoping to see what has worked for others out there.
Kandra--What is your sailors rate? My sailor is a BU in A school at GP right now. He was there waiting for 2 months before he got to class up. He's loving it there.
My sailor has been on THU in Chicago since PIR on the 10/4, got the call today that orders have come in for him to leave for A School on Monday. Woo hoo!!! He will be an EO (Equipment Operator) with the Seabees. Fort Leonard Wood, MO here comes CM Robb.
Couldntbeprouder, Congrats! My son will graduate from A School from FLW in two weeks. He is an EO as well! If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help! Welcome Seabee Mom!
Thanks Beachmom. I'd love to keep in contact. My personal email is on2nursing@yahoo.com. Do you have any advice from your son being at FLW? Cody will be there Monday so possibly they will be able to meet. Kristen
Thank you all so very much for your prayers! Our son called last night to say that he had passed all his CE lineman climbing "certifications" and the written mid-block exam. They have two days yet of doing a "project" (which involves climbing, but not timed and under pressure) and two days of generators. Then they will have the end-of-block exam. If the Lord wills, after that he will go directly into block 6, then 7 (last). He got the best time in the class on (I think it was) the ~170-pound "dummy" rescue. I am so thankful to the Lord for His mercies and blessings and so proud of our son for persevering. Praise the Lord, he said his injured knee was fine, even at one point with 75 lbs. hanging off it.
Seawolfette, my son is also at PH training to be a CM, he is in the second half of his training now and will finish mid jan. I am so proud but hate having him so far away! Thankfully he has settled into the routine and is doing very well now!
My daughter just arrived at PH on Sat. to start school to be CM as well. She does not actually begin classes until the 18th. I am excited and proud of her!
Thank you so much for all your prayers! We are very thankful to the Lord and very excited to report that this morning our son totally finished the notorious “Block 5” (utility-pole-climbing, transformers, and generator unit) of his Navy construction electrician training, acquiring all of the certifications and passing both exams!!! He began Block 6 after lunch today. If the Lord wills, he has Blocks 6 and 7 to pass, and graduation from the training on December 20.
We are looking forward to having him return to our state in the Navy Reserves and working a civilian job (maybe or maybe not nailed down yet). Please pray the Lord accomplish all that He desires in his and his wife's lives and work out the path of their transitions.
My son just arrived at Pt Hueneme on Saturday, 11/2, for A school. He's excited to start this part of his journey and I'm so proud of his determination to have a successful career.
Lighthouse3: Congratulations for your son and may God continue to enable and encourage him as he moves to his next phase!
To all: thank you for your part in encouraging and uplifting our future vets and may we all be grateful for those veterans who served faithfully and honorably!
Thank you, Momofahouseful! This is a very long block, 17 days, dealing with hazardous waste cleanup/disposal, I believe. Probably a lot more memorizing info without as much hands-on, unless it is mock "hazardous waste." Just guessing.
My son got home this morning at 12:30, it is wonderful to see him. Other than 7 hours at graduation, it is has been 5 months since he has been home. Gonna enjoy every minute of this 2weeks. Hooray!
I am so sad. It is looking like my son is not going to get to come home between aschool and c school - he told us they are probably sending him overseas to the next set of schooling. I really hope he has something mixed up. its bad enough he is not getting to be home for christmas as we first thought, but the thought that it could be years is killing me. I know its just part of being a navy mom, but jeez!
AYAMOM - last year, our SeaBee was deployed to the big sandbox three days before his oldest brother's wedding. He then missed Thanksgiving and Christmas. Yes, there is a void in the pictures, at the table, around the living room, and in our mama's heart. I made it through with the knowledge that he was doing what he was called to do and that by his doing his job, others would be safer and other mothers would get their children back, wives would have their husbands back, siblings would have their brothers back, and children would have their daddies back. Thinking of the joy of others seeing their loved ones made my void a little less unbearable. Hang in there - deployments don't last for years! And you are certainly NOT ALONE!!! We are here for you and we DO KNOW what you are going through as far as the deployment is concerned. Be blessed in the knowledge that YOUR son is doing HIS part in keeping the USA safe from those who would do us harm and he is among a band of brothers that will have his back!
Our son passed his 1st. of 2 block 6 tests; the next will be 12/3 or 4. Then one more block (motors, mostly hands on, which is good!). He should graduate, if the Lord wills, 12/20! We won't be going to the A school graduation, since we already visited once, it's a long way, and we will have just returned from an overseas trip. However, he is planning to come home the next day. :-) He will need to find civilian work, since he is in reserves, but he will have a place to live with us for a while.
Karen, our son passed his second block 6 exam in CE A school! :-) He began the last block, and said that, "Lord willing" by next Friday he will be a Seabee! This has been such an amazing journey for him and us, as we see his hard work and the Lord's amazing grace, provision, enablement, protection and love poured out on our son! To God be the glory! We are so thrilled. The last block is motors, mostly hands-on, and our son is excited about that. They must keep them for a week after the block is finished, because he's supposed to graduate the 20th, coming home the next day.
Lighthouse: God is good. As I recall my son did have another week after he finished block 7. I forgot what they call it but it is where they prepare them for becoming part of a battalion. I am so thrilled for you. The 20th will be here soon. My son loves Port Hueneme. The only problem has been that there is no post office on base and he does not have a car to get off base. I hope he cam find an answer to this issue before Christmas. I hate to think of him there on Christmas with no family and no gift! God Bless and keep me updated on your son!
Help anyone? My son gave me an address for him on the base at Gulfport as he is staying in the barracks. It came back "invalid unit" yet he says that is the unit they told him to put on it. Any suggestions? He just told me to hold any presents until next summer when he might her home! Now I have relatives asking how to send stuff to him. He is being very unhelpful :(
Kim - My son is in GP too and he got a PO box on base. When he was deployed last year, he had an address, but we couldn't figure it out once he returned to the US either.
my daughter is in Boot right now but will be going to Port Hueneme once PIR is done and then they said Gulfport for a month. From there she will go where needed. So proud of her.
