Hi everyone! My son Jeff has been on the Wasp now 3 1/2 years. He is an MM3 and works in one of the engine rooms. He got to come home in July but will not be home again till 1--10. He works alot, it sounds like too me. I am very proud of him and cannot wait till 2-2012 when he should be getting out. Hope all is well with you all. Debbie

Thank God for emails. They may be out at sea but we can still talk. It's great to hear from them. God bless all our troops.

Does anyone miss there families like I do?
  • Jeff'smom

Karolyn I live and Texas and will not be able to be there when they come home. I have not even been able to see the Wasp yet? It would be so cool to see the wasp pull in. Please enjoy and make them all welcome. I so wish I could be there.

My son just found out today that he will be assigned to the Wasp. He finishes A-school in Pensacola on Dec. 14th and we are hoping he gets to come home for the holidays before he goes to Norfolk. He is AS. This is all new to us, so I'm looking forward to hearing from the others in this group that have been in the Wasp group for a while.

How long is the time when the Wasp is out to sea. Is it weeks, months or longer each time it is out to sea or does it vary?
  • Jeff'smom

I got some pics from my son today of some of the crew celebrity Navy's birthday on the ship. Maybe they do have some fun on board? It seems like they work or stand watch most of the time.....

To Joanne, They love those cookouts don't they. I hope your son enjoys being with my son? I wish I could be there for a cookout? Texas is a long way away from VA?
  • Jeff'smom

To Joanne. Yes Jeff is married to his high school sweetheart and they have Taylor who is 19 months old and now Tasha is expecting a girl in Feburary 2010. They will be out of the Navy and back home sometime in 2012. I can't wait. I have missed alot of my son and grandsons life and can't wait till they come home. Are you going to try and be in VA when they come home? Maybe you can give Jeff a hug if you do go for me?
  • Jeff'smom

To Joanne, I hope Lily (my granddaughter) and I will get to go in March, she is out of school for spring break. I would love to go on the ship and see where Jeff works.

I wanted to share a great song/video for all of you. It was written by a music teacher and sung by 3rd graders at the school. Sure does make me proud of my sailor son! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pfBUUZNbFM
