for everyone that has a family member, spouse or loved ine aboard the wasp to share stories, relieve stress, make new friends, and all aorund support for each other.
Marcy, it was great meeting you too, I wish we would have had some more time to hang out. We just got home today, boy am I wore out, it sure is tough to stay up with that guys.
I am so glad I took the opportunity to go see the ship and meet some of the awesome Sailors that are serving aboard it. I would not have missed it for the world, and recommend it to anybody that can go to go!
That's a wonderful photo! They may be a few years apart but they are obviously brothers. Handsome sailor you've got! Little one looks ready to join, love his 'cover.'
I just checked the weather for tomorrow's arrival, clear and sunny, high 75 degrees. They sure deserve it after docking in cold and rainy New Orleans. Hoping for some great photos of our sailors manning the rails!
Anybody going to Port Everglades plz take pics of the ship arriving and post! Any idea what time they will be arriving? There is a webcam you can watch on!
I saw on one website that the ships are arriving in the morning - if I hear more specific info I'll let you know - it would be so cool to see on the webcam. Also going to check local TV there.
Wow I'm so glad you got that link, going to be so much fun to watch! And this time we'll be dry and warm haha Seriously, I'm delighted that they get to man the rails in their dress whites this time. Cool!
The wasp already came in about 6:30 am eastern time. Sorry you missed it, but thanks to your links, I went to it this morning at 5:15 to check it out and was shocked to actually see the ship coming in. Thank you again.
They're headed to New York in May, but I don't know if they're scheduled to go to Baltimore (Fleet Week June 13 -19). OpSail 2012 will take place in Norfolk June 1 - 12, with a tall ship Parade of Sail, concerts, etc - I've heard it's a great event - OpSail 2012

Gonavymom, I am sorry to hear you are having a hard time. Is always hard when they have to leave. I know how hard it is been in a new place and not knowing anyone, so I'm sending you an email with my info and you can pass it to your daughter tell her to feel free to contact me if she need anything.
Hey Ladies http://www.livestream.com/usnavy is going to be featuring the USS WASP live from Port Everglades on Saturday at 10am EST. Hope you all can see it.

I cried as soon as it started and I have no idea where my kid is!! Tissues all around lol Had my nose to the screen looking at each frame. When the two female sailors stretch out their arms, fingertip to fingertip, that's just such a cool shot. EW, can't believe you saw him! GNM, glad you're doing better - you'll have to plan a trip to Norfolk soon :)
Marcy - When he called the other day I told him I saw some pictures of the ship arriving to port and he told me exactly where he was on the formation. So when i saw the video I just look carefully and in the 1:45 min there he was, he is the 5th person after the balcony, there's 2 sailors on the corner 1 marine 1 more sailor and then MY BELOVED :D
