USS WASP FAMILY

Does anybody know if I buy a NEX gift card for my son if it will be something I can reload?  I want to get him one to use while he's in Italy for the next 3 years, but I don't know if I will be able to reload it from here?

     Or do any of you have a suggestion for a card I can get him that I can reload from here while he's in Italy?

Hi. I just got a call from my son.  He's been in Norfolk with the Enterprise since November, but said he's got soft orders that he'll report to the Wasp in August. 

Can somebody please private message if the Wasp is IN or OUT? I have been trying to get ahold of my son for 2 weeks, and his phone directly to his voice mail.  I checked his phone records and no activity on it for the same amount of time.  I was not aware of any scheduled underways, so I am very concerned.

Thank you gonavymom....I contacted the ship and found out he is on restrictions, cant wait to hear this story, but at least I know he is safe and sound.

Thank you everybody, you would think they would be allowed to contact family to let them know they would be out of pocket for ?? days.  That way us crazy moms wouldnt lose our minds...

Earls Wife... is your hubby still in the kitchen? Maybe he could get a message to my son, to call me as soon as his restriction is over.

Earls Wife...Prior to knowing what was going on, I sent an email to his Wasp email, he responded this morning to me.  Said he was on restrictions until the end of the month.  But tell your hubby thanks for making the offer.  If he would like to meet him though, his name is OS3 Hanson.  If they get in trouble do they take rank away? Just curious.

Thortonwife....the Wasp has a FRG page on facebook, they just had their montly meeting today, the page is USS Wasp FRG (LHD1)

The FRG have their meeting the 2nd Saturday of the month at 10:30 am on base. The President's name is Jaime

Hi Ladies !! Been awhile since I have checked in !! Welcome to all the newbies !!

My son has been with the WASP since Sept 2011. He just moved into another apartment complex last month. Lots more room, but not very happy with mgn/main. Took 3 days to get air conditioning fixed. Daughter in law and 5mo old grand daughter bout roasted in there. Their schedule is really messing with my visit schedule !! I drive a school bus, and had hoped to spend a good bit of time visiting. Looks like that would be great, after school goes back in session !! Not so much now !! :(

I'm wondering if anyone still comments on this page? My son just joined the USS Wasp fleet and I'm a new Mom to this whole Navy thing. I'm hoping someone can help with questions and concerns. Thanks

Hello USS Wasp family!  I am Sue Lamberson aka the pillowcase lady.  My group has taken on the Wasp to mail handmade pillowcases to the entire crew, including the Marine unit.

The group name is Heads at Ease pillowcase project for deployed military.

I am wondering if anyone here sews and would like to help.

Here is some more information:

We will be mailing over 2700 pillowcases to the USS Wasp, which is carrying the 22nd MEU, another Marine unit.

As always, we will mail until we are done whether that's 2, 3 or 4 months.  It doesn't matter, we mail until everyone get a pillowcase.

The wave dates are as follows:

Wave 1 for the ship is complete.  We mailed 561 pillowcases and we mail until all have been sent.  We need about 2700.  If you can help with this project, we would love that.!!

Wave 2 is complete.  And I just posted some thank you notes on HAE from the wave 1 group.  check them out.

Hi CeliaSews, my apologies!  I am just seeing this.  You can make some pcs for the ship.  If you check out the Heads at Ease group on here, we have some patterns.  I also have a FB group as well.  

Basically make pillowcases in any pattern that works for you and when you have some made, let me know.  I will then give you the mailing address.

Honestly, we can use the help.  We have mailed 3 waves so far for a total of 993 pillowcases.  But we have lots more to go. 

Wave 4 begins on Monday.  if you would send me your email address in personal message, it is easier for me to communicate like that.  I have gone back to work at the school I work in.

Wave 4 is completed and we sent 430 pillowcases this time.  We have at least 1 more wave, so if you want to be involved please let me know.  We can always use help to pay it forward to the ships traveling with the Wasp as well.

I posted some thank you notes in the USS Wasp thread.  We finished wave 5 on 8-13.  And the ship is done.  Thanks to any who helped us do this ship.
