Glad to hear that your son is mostly ready. His father and I are going to drop him at the hotel Tuesday night and I probably won't go to the swearing in as I don't think he wants me there because he want to avoid another goodbye. He still had to pack his bag so we can bring it to PIR. Best of luck and maybe we will see you in GL.

Happy Sunday everyone!  Just think of it, our boys are in Chapel service right now more than likely.  The Chapel service is awesome.  I remember it well.  Very lively and spirited.  Even if your not religious you enjoy the services, the singing and the cutting loose after a long grooling week!  I wish I could be there to see them all just finally relaxing a bit!  Have a great Sunday Everyone!

  • 6pakmom

Mine leaves to DEP tomorrow and to RTC on Wednesday -- anyone else out there?

  • D-hunter

Lupner- do they all go to chapel service????
I'm leaving a note for fed ex tomorrow and I hope they leave the box. It's 4days and I'm not crying but still a little blah.
Doxie mom- I agree we need a like button.
    6packmom- good luck !

D-hunterMom, your SR didn't get to go to chapel today since he won't have holiday routine for the first time until next week at the earliest. He will have the opportunity to go each week after he is in his permanent ship. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

  • lemonelephant

lupner88, see the info below. Also, check your My Page.

If your future Sailor has yet to ship, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Ship 03 Division 127. My son left February 4th. Please let me know if anyone else's kiddo is the same ;)
  • MomTut

Hi Jo Mamma!  How did you get that info so fast? My son also left of Feb 4th.  I'd love to find out if I can!

  • Momma J

My Sr's recruiter sent it to me 2 Days after he was there. I was told to wait for the form letter just to verify he does not change ships. Then I can get my letters sent out ;) Very excited about that! !! Cannot wait to hear from my boy! !
  • Momma J

Mom Tut: what is your SR going for? Mine is Nuke! Cannot wait to meet other mom's with kiddos in the same division! !
  • Momma J

Super mom 1820: I know the feeling! I was so so surprised when he text it to me! I have heard of a lot of mommas that don't get much info :( This last week has been an emotional roller coaster! Up and down up and down :(
  • MomTut

I'll have to give my son's recruiter a call!  I'm not very hopeful to get any info from them... but its worth a shot!  My SR is in LS (logistics).  I'll let you know as soon as I get any info on his ship/division.  His birthday is Thursday... think I'll have the "box" by then?  (small gift for momma- a piece of him ;0)

  • Momma J

Mom tut: Happy Birthday to him! And yes the box would be good :)
  • MomTut

Looks like our box arrived today!  Haven't been home to open it yet.... Anyone else get theirs yet?  :)

  • Momma J

Got the box today! Kinda made it real, kwim? Just a reminder he's not here AND has nothing of his own. I sure do miss him.

  • Momma J

    Carmen

We drop my son off at the hotel tomorrow in Boston and he leaves for GL on Wed
  • HollySue

We got the box today. I was surprised to see my son's coat returned. I thought they kept that? I hope they issue one or he will be very cold.
  • Blonde1

I haven't gotten the box yet!!  I will leave a note tomorrow.  Afraid it is all of the snow and ice around here.  I really hope tomorrow!!  :-(

  • Liberty

We got the box today with a great note that was very much like my son. So, at least we know that on the plane there he was fine and making jokes on paper! Also got the letter .PIR is 3/28...anyone else out there with that date?

HollySue- They wear the Navy Pea Coat- which is supposed to be very warm.

Kimba- Stay strong! I cried through the oath but was fine once he left.

  • Blonde1

Liberty, When did your son get to boot camp?

  • Liberty

Blonde1- He went to Boot camp on the 4th.

  • BusyMom13

I haven't got the letter yet but with the weather I'm not surprised but I got a call from his recruiter today telling me his Ship & Div number which has a PIR of 3/28. So excited because I only have to count 8 Fridays instead of 9! Mine arrived at BC on 2/5.
  • ProudMominJersey

My son leaves home today, stays in a hotel tonight, and leaves MEPS tomorrow. We will see him sworn in at that time and then off he goes. So proud of him. He is my youngest and such a wonderful soul. Feeling sad a bit but looking forward to this journey as I know it is what he wants and it will be a wonderful experience for him.

  • supermom(PIR 4/4ship9 div 130)

Opened my box last night....still wIting word on her ship and div :(
  • Blonde1

I haven't gotten box or letter yet  :-(  With the weather, not surprised, but my son arrived at BC on 2/5 also.  It is killing me!!  Leaving a note on the door today.  I hope I get the box today!!

  • MomTut

Don't stress, Blonde1.  We're just one state over from IL and we typically get mail very fast from there.  If it doesn't show up today, it will be tomorrow.  You're right, the weather doesn't help at all!  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  • caolila

After reading comments posted here I called recruiter yesterday and asked for ship/div and never got a call back.  Still no kid in a box either.  She arrived Feb 5th.  In her phone call she said they weren't allowed to put a note in the box so I am surprised to see at least one comment here indicating otherwise.... :(  I guess I will overnight a letter as soon as address arrives.

  • supermom(PIR 4/4ship9 div 130)

Caolila - I have not heard from recruiter either but from having friends who have been through this she was given the suggestion to take note cards with her when she statyed overnight in hotel and write one last note before she enters bootcamp and she put them in her bag that they shipped back so we could all get them...highly suggested for others who are leaving soon...its soo exciting to see what they write before they get to GL

  • Annabel Lee

Got the box! No note... :( PIR is 3/28.
  • caolila

Thanks for sharing that supermom1820.  I am disappointed of course, but will survive.  I am anxious today for some reason.

  • caolila

Annabel Lee - how do you know PIR date?

  • Annabel Lee

Caolila, I received the form letter too, with his address and PIR date.
  • Annabel Lee

Getting the box helped, and I felt closer to him...but today has been hard...one minute I'm ok, next I'm a wreck.. He's only been gone a week. I worry about myself. I need to get a grip!
  • Liberty

I also gave my son a piece of paper that morning when we were at MEPS- I said "Here is a small piece of paper and a pen. Write a note and stick it in your jacket pocket. The moms said it is great to get a note when you get the box". Haha!  So, don't feel badly if you didn't get a note! I assume that the ones who get notes told their son/daughter ahead of time. They do NOT have time to write a note when they are putting things in the box. Our note was great for us because he was making jokes and seemed just like our son and not nervous. That made me feel like he was not on the plane wondering "What have I gotten myself into??". Hopefully he will write as much as possible from GL- but who knows? I guess if he is exhausted (and he can rest or write) I would rather he rest! We are making sure that at least one letter leaves our mailbox Mon- Sat. We usually  enclose one for him to give a friend who is not getting much mail. Today three were sent from our house and two from other people. I know from going to boarding school in my teens that you do not want to be the one who is not getting much mail. So write to them often! I have sent an email to my friends and family with his address and will resend it once a week as a reminder! They are all including extra ones written to "Seaman Recruit" for buddies.   Hope that you all have a great day!

  • caolila

I guess anyone who has the address now can send a letter, but the rest of us have to wait.  I just hate to think of a mail call where my daughter is the only one who doesn't get a letter.

  • supermom(PIR 4/4ship9 div 130)

Liberty that is such a great idea..

  • Annabel Lee

I wish I had done that Liberty! Great idea! I would have loved a note..the I'm here call was my son's voice, but it was like he was reading something.
  • GreenFish

Caolila, we haven't received a box or letter yet either.  It does make ya a bit anxious, told my husband it is just a sign I need that things are moving on as hoped for.  It seems patience is a virtue I'm always working on, wonder if I'll ever get the hang of it.

  • caolila

KYMom59 - yes I agree patience is tough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I seriously doubt I have a chance of ever getting the hang of it.

Did anyone see the notification on FB for divisions 125-134?  It says the wrong Graduation date was sent in the form letters. The correct Graduation date is April 4th for those divisions.

RTC FRIENDS: It has come to the attention of the Public Affairs Office that recent form letters were sent out with the wrong graduation date. The correct graduation date for divisions 125 thru 134 and division 921 is 4 April, 2014.
  • aznavymom44

Yes, I got the letter with wrong date.  I saw the post on the U.S. NRTC facebook page that it was a mistake, and is April 4th.  I was 2 clicks away from booking our flight on the wrong week. :)
