Ok I will check it out-I did read initially and really thought that letter would be in there-tx!
  • Lu P

lemonelephant-thanks! I think he should be able to handle that =) my son would rather be a fly on the wall, so I wonder how he ended up anywhere in the 900 div!

  • lemonelephant

    You are both very welcome.

  • Ampegv4

Lemon-thanks for the link-I see now-must have been wishful thinking on my part because it is very clearly stated the letter is after the receipt of the box-back to waiting! At least I don't feel cheated anymore:)
  • lemonelephant

  • RuthB13

Im so excited to finally get something! Yay graduation date is 4/11 have to start making plans!!!!

  • lemonelephant

RuthB13, join PIR 04/11/2014 TG 22 to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Divisions 135 and 136 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

  • RuthB13

    Thanks!!!!!!!! lemonelephant

  • lemonelephant

    RuthB13, I'm glad to help.

Today I came home to a post it note from FedEx on my door! " The box has arrived!" Well I don't have the box yet but it is seems as things are progressing as my son told me to expect. FYI he left on 2/12/14 if that helps you estimate the time of arrival of your box. I can not wait to get my hands on his cellphone and hear the music he and I loved to share.
I hope today brought you good news !
  • ScampsMom

My son called me at 11:45 CST to say he had arrived at O'Hare. When should I expect his official call? It's now 1:43 AM CST.

  • Liberty

Scampsmom- I have heard of it being as late at 3:00 am!

  • Demetris

My son left yesterday and arrived last night. I gave him permission to call his girlfriend instead of me to let us know he had arrived. I was a RDC for 3 years so I am very familiar with the process if anyone has questions.
  • StacyLHR (14/136)

I got  the LETTER!!!!   :)   PIR is 4/11   :)  and now I have his address!!!!   yeah!  :)

  • Terrib

Form letter arrived yesterday! Ship 14, Div 135, PIR 4/11/14.  Making plans now! :)

  • JRH (ship 3 Div 137)

I am still waiting on the letter.
  • molokaimom

My daughter was able to call me from O'Hare waiting for the bus to pick them up from the USO.  Don't know when I will hear from her again but I will treasure all I can get.

  • NavyMom93

molokaimom, are you waiting for the "I'm here" call still?

  • NavyMom93

Demetris, my son arrived last night, also. I got the call at 5:30 P.M. CST.

  • k10mom (Ship 14, Division 146)

Well my daughter just got on the plane.  This is not easy.

  • Kimba

    K10mom

It will get easier. I know what your going through. After I got the I'm here call and found myself relaxing a little. She is in good hands and is doing what she chose to do. Keep that phone glued to you. (Hugs)
  • Kimba

    Scampsmom

    Did you get the call?
  • NavyMom93

k10mom, Kimba is right, it will get easier. This morning I really felt much better, knowing that he was finally there, finally doing what he had signed up to do so many months ago.  Now my letter writing begins!

  • alwsmft (Ship 14 Div 136)

Vrybzymom- my son is ship 14 div 136 too I think. I don't have the letter in front of me. I just bought my plane tickets this morning. Yippee!!!
  • jjsmom (Ship 11 Div 141)

My son flew out of LR last night - & received my 5 second call.  This is a first for us.... Hope what everyone is saying is true and it gets better.  I'm so lost....

  • NavyMom93

LeAnn, I know that first phone call is not very reassuring.  My son sounded so rushed and stressed, but we had just been texting and I knew that call would be short and scripted like that, so I was ready for it.  Just hang in there.  Once you start getting letters and a real phone call, I'm sure you will feel much better!

  • Arkey

LeAnn, I think your son flew out with mine. I can't speak to boot camp of todays but I did a hitch back in the 70's and I can promise you this, the Navy takes care of their own.

  • Annabel Lee

LeAnn, it does get better.. My son has been gone two weeks. I'm not near as emotional as I was, I'm waiting for a call. No news is good news... I know he's ok.. Yours is too. Hang in there!
  • Kitchen Kimmi (09/139)

It's been a week since I kissed my son goodbye. I haven't received the letter or a box, yet. I'm luckier than most, as I actually received two phone calls from him. (They needed more paperwork faxed to them) so I know he is in Div 139. I wonder if that will put him at PIR on April 11?
  • Diane

I got the box today!!! I get to call his recruiter tmro to get his address!!! I'm excited. All my nervousness is gone and I know it's early, but I feel like I'm on count down till April!!! And I don't even now the PIR yet! Hahahaha
  • lemonelephant

Reasons to wait on the form letter:

    1. The PAO at the RTC asks that loved ones wait on the form letter before mailing letters.

    2. The recruiter does not always give the right address and letters that do not have the correct address may be returned or may be delayed several weeks in getting to your recruit since it will not be a high priority for those in the mail room to look up the correct information.

    3. Even if you do have the correct information, your recruit will not receive letters that are mailed before receiving the form letter much quicker, if at all, than letters mailed after receiving the form letter because recruits do not receive mail until they are in their permanent ship and a Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained. The first Mail Call is on day 1-3 or 1-4 DOT.

***If it has been at least 2 calendar weeks since your SR arrived at the RTC and you don't have the form letter, then yes, it fine to get the address from the recruiter and send letters. Double-check the info against that at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp or Ship/Division--How it Works.

  • lemonelephant

Kitchen Kimmi, yes, unless the 04/11/2014 TG is a very small one, Division 139 will be in that TG since it begins with Division 135.

  • lemonelephant

If your future Sailor has yet to ship, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC.

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

  • lemonelephant

The default Privacy Setting on N4M is "Anyone." That means that ANYONE with access to the web has access to everything on your My Page. To change that, make change number 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile), While you are there, read the Page and see if there are other changes you need to make.

  • Michelle-Reese's Mom (S14, D146)

My son arrived last night and we got the call around 9:15. I knew it was going to be short and scripted and so did he but I was shocked at how calm and relaxed he sounded. I bet it was a long night for them. I know it was for me. :)

  • Bonnie-Codysmom

stay strong huntersmom...its a hard road but it does get easier with each day.  mine left the 3rd and i havent had a meltdown since sunday....i havent washed the clothes out of the box yet, im just not ready..but your life does change.  you become obsessed with your phone and the mailman, all you talk aout is the navy and your friens will constantly compare this  to them goin to college...just smily, cry when the urge hits and come here often to chat.  these ladies here will become your sanity....stay strong......
