My daughter left the 25th, I missed her "I'm here" call :(  but she called Thursday and said they let them call if no answer the night before.....now i'm patiently waiting!!!

  • lemonelephant

ProudPickle, that is good that she was able to make the make up call and that she took advantage of the opportunity. Some do and some don't. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

  • lemonelephant

Since you all have recruits, if you haven't done so yet, you can go to your My Page and change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" to "Enlisted."

  • Brooke

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a SR who left on 2/24 2/25 that has received a form letter yet? I know it's still pretty early!
  • lemonelephant

Brooke, some with recruits who arrived on 02/23/2015 received The Form Letter today. Those recruits filled divisions from the 04/17/2015 TG. Remember 10 days after arrival is the average time to receive The Form Letter and your recruit could have PIR on 04/17/2015 or 04/24/2015 depending on which division your recruit is placed in.

  • Brooke

Thank you! I'm anxious to find out when his graduation is! I'm trying to plan around my brothers wedding which is on 2/25 so if my fiancé's PIR was on 2/17 that would make my life so much easier hahaha
  • Brooke

Also what determines what divison they're placed in? Is it kinda just like who shows up first and fills up each division?
  • lemonelephant

Brooke, see Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Ship/Division--How it Works to answer your question about how the divisions are filled.

  • lemonelephant

Brooke, I think you mean 4/25 and 4/17 rather than 2/25 and 2/17. The Navy doesn't usually make things easy on loved ones, but I hope that things work out for you.

  • Brooke

    Thank you!
  • lemonelephant

    You are very welcome.

  • Brooke

Haha oops yes I meant April not February! All this counting weeks and checking the calendar got me mixed up!
  • lemonelephant

    :o)

  • ProudPickle

my daughter left the 25th and I got her box today....woohoo....now waiting on the form letter!!!

  • Robin

My son also left the 25th and I got his box today too. :) can't wait for the letter!
  • ProudPickle

    yay....so exciting!!

  • NavyWife95

My husband left on the 24th and I got his box today also
  • Allie girls mom

My daughter left the 25th also and I received her belongings yesterday.  Looking so forward to the form letter.  Ready to book those flights.....lol...she's only been gone a week today and I just feel like she is on vacation,  I have had a great peace about all this so far....I am very proud, and can't wait to write.

  • Stevensmom

"I know they say processing days are usually 5 days. Do you count Saturday or Sunday? If not, what do they do those days? I saw Sunday they go to chapel..."
  • lemonelephant

There are 4 regular {-days, but we count 5 since we don't know how many HOLD days a recruit has. No, Saturday and Sunday do not count. They are HOLD days. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

The recruits do not go to chapel on the first Sunday that they are at the RTC. There is info in Arrival and What Happens at the RTC about what recruits in P-HOLD do.

  • Stevensmom

Thank you! I've read all that over and over! I don't know how I forgot it! Thanks for your help and everyone else on this sight
  • lemonelephant

    You are very welcome.

  • nurse and mom of a navy sailor

So my son has NEVER been a letter writer and although we have written him several times I havent received any letters back. I am starting to get a little bummed out!!! IS he enjoying life out there so much that he has nothing to write? Makes me a little sad when I run to mailbox but nothing is there. I am having a bit of a down day

  • NavyWife95

How soon after the box so I expect the form letter?
  • Robin

Kenlyn, when did your SR leave? I'm anxious to get mine! :)
  • Robin

Sorry I meant to ask Mer1166
  • NavyWife95

My husband left on the 24th also. I'm anxiously waiting for the form letter
  • lemonelephant

Kenlyn, The Form Letter arrives an average of ten days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC.

  • lemonelephant

I've let ellen and FTLW know that form letters have been received for the 04/24/2015 PIR date.  Keep watching PIR 04/24/2015 TG 24 and join when it is up.

  • Navy'an

My son left on the 02/24, I have read that most of you received their cloths... I only got his cell phone back. Is this the norm? And no form letter yet :-(

  • nurse and mom of a navy sailor

Hi Navy'an!!! I only received my sons cell phone as well. I am guessing he must have donated his clothes and shoes.

  • Stevensmom

Our son left on the 26th. He didn't bring his phone and said he was donating everything. So we are not expecting anything until the letter....
  • lemonelephant

Navy'an, see the info on "the box" in Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). It sounds like he trashed or donated his clothes.

Yeah got my form letter. Div 151 ship2 PIR 4/17,

  • lemonelephant

rhinosmom, I have that Division 151 is on Ship 11. The 900 divisions are on Ship 2.

  • Stevensmom

Just wondering where everyone has decided to stay and why you picked it. I was considering the ramada in because of the meet and greet is held there. But have not decided. Also, can our sailors stay with us for the night or do they have to be back by a certain time Friday night?
  • goldenretdoggie

Hi my son is ship 11 Div 142 PIR 4/10 does anyone know what day they are flying to Texas after graduation?

  • lemonelephant

Mariita, see the info in Saving Money PIR Weekend.

  • lemonelephant

diane, your then Sailor will most likely fly out the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
