    MalsMom- that’s awesome! Enjoy it!

    Ceej0347 Brother Division

Brother Divisions are two consecutive divisions beginning with an odd number (001-002 for example). When there are two or more 800's divisions, then they are brother divisions. When there are two or more 900's divisions, then they are brother divisions. Both (or all three every now and then) brother divisions must be filled before the brother divisions begin training. I have a little on it Ship/Division--How it Works and 800 and 900 Divisions.

  • Casey's mom

Got a pic of my sons hand writing I should get his letter today. Got so excited to see it can't wait. I will be hunting the mail lady down when i get off work at 2. LOL

  • Phoenixmom

Great News Casey's Mom , isn't that funny how we seem to go hunt down the Mail Person, Have a Great Day!

  • Phoenixmom

That is awesome News Elizabeth, let him know we are all proud, this is a very hard process and as long as he stays focus and determined he shouldn't have a problem!

  • SailorMoon

Got my form letter today! PIR 4/13!  I had a feeling it would be here so I drove home at lunch to check the mail. LOL.  I just couldn't wait until after 5pm and wanted to send my first letter out!

  • MalsMom

Elizabeth - my daughter also has PIR on 20APR18!

I had to laugh because she also wrote a short note; joking with us about her dog that she left with us!  So good to see that she is in good humor!  Makes me feel so much better!

  • Phoenixmom

That is Great News Ladies I am so glad you are having some kind of communication, can I ask, are you all at ease now, no more anxiety? some long couple of weeks I know.

  • MalsMom

Phoenixmom - It was a weight off my shoulders to hear from her!  Not knowing is the hard part!  This website has helped so much.  I so appreciate you and all who have gone through this and stay to help newbies like me!

  • Phoenixmom

MalsMom it has been a pleasure, I stayed on to help out when my Son Graduated BC, I knew how I felt going thru this so when I stayed on I was asked if I would like to continue helping and encouraging others so I did. I appreciate you all also for sharing and encouraging others, it helps others at the same time. Good Luck to you and your Loved One!

  • Ceej0347

    Saliormoon- what div??

  • SailorMoon

Ceej0347 - 161. I saw on the PIR group your son is in brother div 162.  :)

  • Phoenixmom

Brother Divisions go to BST-21 together, their last and final test.

  • blackbirdmom

CWMom - all of the recruits are given an opportunity to purchase a phone card, so they can call home. However, you can send one with him. We got one for our sailor at CVS. Make sure you get a US phone calling card, not one for international or cell phone use. Penny Talk is one brand.

  • Phoenixmom

Yes just like Blackbird said they can purchase one or when you write him you can send one with his letter, just make sure it is ready for use so he doesn't spend time activating it. One of the Mothers had mentioned she wrote her son thick letters do not do that they will have to read out loud in front of RDC and others, or if you use extra postage they have to do the same.

  • Phoenixmom

Mole skin is the band aids everyone is speaking on they also can purchase those at NEX. or you can send a few strips in your letter also.

  • Phoenixmom

Well Folks my time is up, thank you all for sharing and posting, Have a Great Evening and until tomorrow.

My SR is Ship 12 Div 161

  • Moonbeam

No letter here yet.  My SR left 2/22.....still waiting to hear something.

  • Ceej0347

Moonbeam- hang tight! It will be there soon.im sure it will be in the next day or two....

  • Phoenixmom

Good Morning Ladies hope all is well this Tuesday Morning,

I would Like to extend a Congratulations to your Loved Ones for taking this Journey wishing them all the best!

  • Rachel

Still no form letter. Beginning to dislike Informed Delivery more and more.  Saw yesterday that another SR who arrived same time as my son JUST did the 1.5 run yesterday......so this makes me think he has not moved out of Processing yet.

  • Moonbeam

    Ceej0347 waiting patiently ;-)

Rachel when did your SR leave?  I know I can't stand the not knowing of anything; we were very close and not being able to talk to him is very hard.

  • Ceej0347

Rachel- I’m sure it’s frustrating! Just a lil while longer that’s all. And I know it’s easy to say for me cuz I received mine, but I feel for you. The unknown is the worst! It was for me - I’m a total planner as a single mom of four boys I have to be ( between school and sports and music and jobs- yikes!) wait what day is it??  lol just trying to make you laugh or at least smile.

I’ve never been good at patience, one thing I struggle with so this process has made me self reflect and learn to trust and have patience! Wow who’d have thought that the Navy helps us moms grow and learn too!!

Just a couple more days - You got this!!

    CeeJ

  • Rachel

moonbeam - he arrived 02/22.  Call received before midnight.

Ceej0347 - I feel so unorganized right now! haha.  You def have your hands full.  I thought 2 boys and a drama queen daughter was a lot!  I think I'm disconnecting from Facebook for a while because I see everyone else receiving their stuff.

BBaggins - Someone had posted on Facebook that they received a security clearance call and they were about to do the 1.5 mile run for the first time.  Her daughter arrived same date. (2/22)

  • Ceej0347

Rachel- I’m not a facebook kinda person have it to monitor my boys activity. But not a fan.  Mayb disconnecting from it might be good!

Ill say a prayer for speedy feet and mail service!

  • Phoenixmom

Usually if someone is having a Hard time and cant pass you will be notified, as long as no calls come in then that is a good thing. "No News is good News"

  • Rachel

Ceej0347 - Everyone thought it was funny for me not to like Facebook.  Thank goodness I'm not the only one.  I do it to keep up with my kids as well.  When they will let me!  haha

  • Phoenixmom

On about their fifth day at the RTC, the new recruits are tested on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 7 seconds for female recruits. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. Those who pass continue with BC. Those who do not pass are moved to FIT and will be retested in 48 hours and must pass in order to continue at the RTC. See Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training ... for more information.

  • Phoenixmom

These sites will give more info if they do not pass and what happens.

  • Phoenixmom

FIT: Fitness Improvement Training; Recruits who have failed the Official PFA (most often by failing the swim or run) are sent here for intensive training in order to pass the test prior to having BST. Recruits may also be assigned to FIT within the first few weeks at the RTC; they are typically there for 2 weeks and upon completion will be assigned to a new division with a new PIR date. The program is on Ship 4. (There is more on this in the Page, Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training .... If your recruit is sent here, join the group, fit program. Also see http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=54872 and http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-04-24/news/ct-met-navy-fitn....)

  • Phoenixmom

DIV: Division. When recruits arrive, they are divided into divisions of up approximately 88 recruits each. This is the group they will live and train with for the next eight weeks or so

  • Phoenixmom

IFA: Initial Fitness Assessment. To increase success rates of individuals arriving at Navy recruit training (boot camp), a physical fitness exam which demonstrates a minimum level of fitness must be completed in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) prior to arrival. All future Sailors must pass the IFA within 45 days of leaving for boot camp. The IFA consists of four elements: the sit-reach test, curl ups, push ups, and a 1.5 mile walk or run. (See https://www.navycs.com/navy-fitness-assessment.html.)

  • Rachel

I don't doubt him on the PFA.  I just need a letter!!  hahaha

  • Moonbeam

Rachel - is there a FB group that you're seeing other information on such as the run information?

  • Rachel

Phoenixmom - You are right.  No news is good news.

  • Phoenixmom

Rachel I was so skeptical on "The No News is Good News" just didn't make sense, it hurt to much how could it be good, Right! But when I started seeing how it was explained, I just went with it. And started understanding. You Ladies have been so Awesome! Handling all the emotions and anxiety, Looking back at how I was, I'm embarrassed. Keep up the good Job ladies your time is coming up soon enough!

  • Rachel

Moonbeam - Just where a mother said her son was doing his PFA yesterday.  Its in a PIR group for April.  But stay away from those!!  They will stress you out and cause you to lose sleep at night!

  • Phoenixmom

LOL! Rachel why do you say that, you can learn much on PIR groups.

  • Rachel

Oh I have learned a lot from them.  I just prefer this site because it to me has been more informative.  Like I said before.....not really into Facebook.

  • Moonbeam

Rachel - LOL!  I definitely don't want to be stressed out....I'm just starting to relax a bit.  I love this site and find comfort in knowing we are all in the same boat ;-) waiting to hear from our kids and hoping that they are doing well.

  • Phoenixmom

I understand I do not do face book neither.

If there is any info that you all maybe needing let me know Ok.
