Deedee, there is info in Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) that will let you know what is happening. I invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well.

I got my daughters box today.  Her box had the envelope in it with papers. Shrugs. Going to wash her clothes and put everything away.  I cannot wait to get her letter! Come on next week!

  • LadyShai85

I received my hubby's box today just as I was pulling up from an errand. I put the box on a chair and was going to feed the kids. I told them lets eat first then we will open it. My youngest (2 1/2) fell out on the floor insisting that I open it then. I opened it and showed them his stuff and she went from violent two year old to happy and playful. Haha I guess that is how most of us feel....with our sailors...anxious but happy when we know they are okay. :)

  • SRRVTMom DIV 935 Ship 2

Well I just went thru the backpack she brought with her, that was in the box. and they sent her wallet back. >:| That sucks.  But all her IDs were taken out.  She had a bunch of other stuff in there that she sent back.  I don't know why she had it in there bc that stuff they wld of sent back no matter what.  But the wallet itself?

  • lemonelephant

RaynesMom, some gals keep the wallet and some don't. It's pretty much hit or miss. Some gals have informed us that they didn't want to carry it around in the "Valuables sock" and so they sent it back.

  • JessesMom Ship 13 Div 260

I haven't received the my sons box yet. He left May 14th. Hoping to get it tomorrow. How is it sent US mail or FedEx?

  • Mamushka23

    It's sent fed ex

calimom, Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and when you can expect things. I invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well. Is it possible that he sent it to someone else or that he decided to trash or donate his clothes rather than send "the box"? You can also go to www.fedex.com/us/delivery and see if there is a package scheduled for delivery.

  • lemonelephant

Since most take their cell phones now, it is unusual for no box to be sent.

  • MattsMom

Yay!!! Just received the letter! Ship 12 div 257 PIR 12 July 2013.
  • lemonelephant

    MattsMom, That is great news!

  • Mamushka23

  • kpbmamma

Got my letter too!!! Ship 13 Div 260. PIR July 12! I cannot believe its only been a week... Seven more is going to seem like forever.
  • lemonelephant

Mamushka23, the PIR group will be up later today. In the meantime, join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members). Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening.

  • lemonelephant

For those of you with SR's in the 07/12/2013 TG, join the group, PIR 07/12/2013 TG 35 (clickable link), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.

  • Skeeter4A5 ( Ship 02 Div 936 )

Okay , everyone. She left this evening for boot camp . So we're waiting for the "I made it call". Thanks to all for the guidance and encouragement. Because of all the great info and hearing all your experiences, it was less scary and more fulfilling. Love y'all.
  • kpbmamma

    Thank you lemonelephant!

  • lemonelephant

    I'm glad to help.

  • navyboyzrus03

Okay dropped my boy off yesterday. Got the "I got here okay" call last night at 1230." Haven't stop crying yet. So proud of him. He was the youngest leave from here. May God walk beside them all.

  • lemonelephant

It will get better. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening. I invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well.

  • Skeeter4A5 ( Ship 02 Div 936 )

So, we didn't. Get the call and were so upset. But, this morning we found ou that she made the call to her boyfriend instead. About 2am. He didn't think to call and tell us. All is good, she sounded fine ...
  • lemonelephant

Skeeter4A5, at least he let you know. Hopefully, "the box" and form letter will go to you.

  • msonunz24

I got the form letter from my boyfriend his PIR is July 12! He is in Ship 13 Div 260! Anyone else have a loved one in the same Ship and Div?

  • lovemysailors

all you mom/girlfriends who are receiving your letters today and yesterday... what day did your SR ship off to bootcamp?  I thought I'd get my letter today but no...  My son left on May 13th. Thanks and I may be sad for me but I'm super happy for you all!  :0)

  • lemonelephant

Go ahead and join PIR 07/12/2013 TG 35 since that is the most likely PIR date for you. (You can leave it if your SR is in another TG.) Most of those who are receiving form letters had SR's who arrived on the 13th, 14th, and 15th.  Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening. I invite you to join that group while you are there and you will want to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the members--especially the first one since there may be some changes you need to make) as well.

  • lemonelephant

mareso24, that is great. Others will be joining you in PIR 07/12/2013 TG 35 since form letters are starting to arrive for that TG.

  • CountryGirl

My son arrived the 13th but his PIR is July 3rd. We thought it was strange. Any explanation?
  • CountryGirl

Teamnelson did you see my comment on your page? I think our sons went to Chicago together. My sins PIR is July 3rd. Not sure what's up with that?
  • lemonelephant

Bcf, your SR is in a Push Division and filled a division from the week before. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and What does ??? mean?  (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology) within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on that.

  • lovemysailors

BCF:  Yes!  I saw your response to my comment but I am confused on how to move around this site! haha.  I haven't received my letter yet!!!  And YES, that's very strange about your PIR date; What's your son's name?   One of the papers I got in the box had all the Richmond names on it.  I will definitely post when I get my letter; maybe your son's PIR has to do with his A school start date?  And they were able to get him in the earlier PIR?  I wouldn't be too concerned since all we can do at this point is trust the info we get...  :0)

  • Nautigator-Ship4Div800

Received our first letter today!  I cant open yet as my husband wants me to wait again!!  So exciting!!!  Crazy Mom...right!   LOL

  • Skeeter4A5 ( Ship 02 Div 936 )

Lemonelephant, we had to call him and see if he had heard anything. He had no idea that he should touch base with us. But, now he does. :)
  • lemonelephant

If you choose to share names, please send a friend request and then share the names in a PM through the site to protect your SR's. It's a matter of PERSEC. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) (clickable link). Some of you have Usernames that contain your last name, please go to that Page and make changes 1 and 2 at the bottom to make things safer for you and your SR. There may be other changes you will want to make as well.

  • lemonelephant

Skeeter4A5, I'm sure he does!!! LOL

  • lovemysailors

oh, okay, lemonelephant.  Roger that about OPSEC. :0)

  • lemonelephant

Remember if you change your Username, you also need to change the URL to your profile page or your last name is still there for all the world to see. So make change 2 as well.

  • lovemysailors

I keep thinking this site is like facebook and I keep wanting to "like" posts! :0)

  • lovemysailors

had to change my name again--somehow the "new" one was already taken...  I think this one's a keeper though! :0)

  • lemonelephant

You can help each other out and delete any comments you made where you included a person's Username and it includes their last name.

  • daisy72

Can I post my son's BC address on FB? We have alot of Family and Friends wanting it, and that would be the quickest route.

  • kpbmamma

daisy~  my son's recruiter posted the address right on my son's fb page!

  • lemonelephant

daisy72, some (including recruiters) do post it on the wall, but it is safer to post that you have it and then have people send you a PM for it or to do a mass PM with it where you choose who gets it.

  • daisy72

kpbmamma so far his recruiter hasnt done that! Ok, lemonelephant I will do that. Do not want to cause him to get in trouble and do what I can to keep him safe. Thanks Ladies!

  • lemonelephant

The recruiters' thinking is that it is not against OPSEC since addresses at the RTC are in the public domain (See http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp), but some of us consider it a PERSEC issue since your SR may not want everyone knowing the address and some recruits have their fB pages open to the public or people can comment or can hit Like and that may open the address to others to see ......

HELP fathers day is comming up and I have one little boy who misses his daddy =) and im sure daddy misses him =) so what would be good to send to him im thinking as in picture form im not one to send a box because.. that just... yeah... so what would be good. i know you moms can come up with some great ideas

  • lemonelephant

Rosa91, how about a picture of your little guy printed in the middle of a page and his handprints on each side?--"These little hands are looking forward to holding yours. Happy Father's Day, Daddy! You're my hero!" Or some other sentiment.

A collage of pics on printer paper...

  • Rosa91

lemonelephant, im loving that idea. today he just learned how to ride a trike .. at 1 his daddy would be so proud
