This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in May...I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of May of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions
bella1201, your SR is in a Push Division. It happens sometimes that recruits arriving the same day have PIR a week apart. It all depends on how the divisions fill.
Just got my sons PIR letter does any one know if someone on the guest list can be taken off due to not being able to make and another person added. How does that work if possible.
Missingmysoninvabeach, the names on the form letter are for you and have not been turned in at the RTC. If they are not the names of those who will be attending, then write to your SR and let him know the names that he should write down when the time comes 3 to 10 days before PIR.
@Juliaalyse omg congratulations on your pregnancy. I love your profile picture. I really was confused. @lemonelephant Thank you for clearing that up. So many thoughts were running through my head.
Thank you lemon elephant. I now understand what he was talking about. My only concern is if he fails something the opportunity to redo is slim maybe even none? For all those in his group I pray they get more chances for do overs!
wendy, the call may still come or he may not be able to make it for some reason. Just remember, "No news is good news!" even at this point. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC. (Check your My Page.)
VeganMom, since those in a Push Division will have BST very close to PIR, often making the "I'm a Sailor!" calls only a day or two before PIR, there is often only one or two chances to redo the PFA and still have PIR. SeeBattle Stations-21 (BST).
Here are the current PIR groups for the May Shippers:
Please check the PIR date if your SR is in a division 203-214 as it appears there have been some form letters that have been sent out with the wrong PIR date.
You will see me post, "Check your My Page." The most common reasons are Usernames that appear to contain last names and/or email addresses (change 1) and/or URL's that that appear to contain last names and/or email addresses (change 2) and/or profile pics that contain pics of the future Sailor or recruit (change 4). Please practice PERSEC and make the changes at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile). If you haven't made those changes, and maybe if you have, you may still need to make change 3 so that your My Page is not open to ANYONE with access to the web.

Wendy, yes, there is most likely a PIR on 07/25/2104. When someone gets a form letter for that date, then group will be created and we will post what we know.
Thanks Lemonelephant, just got the letter today, so I am set for the 18th as of now. I was just trying to figure it out myself. You know us moms are so impatient! Thank you!
I have left info on some of your My Pages about your future Sailor's rating (job/specialty) and "A" School. If anyone else needs this info, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating and I will comment back on your My Page.
If one's recruit is shipping out May 5th or 7th, 2015, is there a way to project their PIR date? I get the feeling that I am going for PIR around the 4th of July week, which makes for very expensive airfare for 3-4 people. Talk about planning ahead!!! LOL
Simomma53 - my son was 4th of July 2014 but didn't leave for boot until the 11th AND was in a push division. I would think you are about right, but if you start looking now, make sure the tickets are refundable or changeable (Southwest is usually good about that).
Simomma, by counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be Thursday, 2 July for those arriving at the RTC the week of 4 May. (3 July is a federal holiday this year, so PIR will be moved up a day.) Those arriving on 4 or 5 May could be in a Push Division and have PIR a week earlier, on Friday, 26 June. Those arriving on 6 or 7 May or in the wee hours of 8 May could be the first to arrive for a division in the next week's TG and have PIR on 10 July. You just have to wait on The Form Letter to know for sure. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on that.
My son leaves May 5th. I was thinking it would be the week after 4th of July. I'm glad you told me it could be moved up to as early as July 26th!! I too hope it's not 4th of July week because flights are so expensive
The big advantage to a 4th of July PIR is an extra day of Liberty! Last year the 4th was Fri. so Pir was Thurs and no one flew out on Fri. - an extra day! Would be nice for everyone this year if they did the same again. Good luck!
therevbev, It was an extra day for those who stayed in GL, as yours did because those with a contract for CS often stay in GL for a short time before flying out, but most of those who flew out flew out on the 4th.
Mine son is very excited too Simomma53 . he's my only child though and we've never been apart more than a week in 19 years. It's always been him and I. So big adjustment for both of us. He is going into AECF and we are in Phoenix. Where are you located?
My boyfriend, soon to be husband, leaves May 5th! I am super excited just like he is. I know it is going to be a struggle but this is such an exciting thing for him.
My heart breaks a little more everyday and I cry a lot....can't imagine how l will be when he's ACTUALLY gone. My son signed a 6 year contract too.... he's excited...I am sad, proud but sad
My son is leaving on May 15. I have mixed emotions. I am very proud of him making a life long decision. He signed up for 6 years also. His recruiter told him it would be easier for him to get in the Navy ROTC at Purdue. He has had his heart set on Purdue since he was a sophomore,
Our SR leaves for Boot Camp on May 19th. Right now it feels so far away but I know it will be here in the blink of an eye. I am excited that we are taking a family vacation in about a week. Our last vacation together as a family, for now. I think he is ready to go now and tired of waiting but I can't help but wish for more time!
My son is leaving on May 19 also. It is coming up fast. I am excited for him yet sad that he won't be home for a while. I know I am annoying him with all the information I am getting from this site. He knows I Love him and support him
Wow! This is the first time I have seen another mom with a son leaving on May 19th. That is when my son leaves. We are trying to get lots done as a family before he goes. Before it seemed so far off but now it is really just around the corner.
My son is just taking it all in stride and is not very emotional about leaving. I think he is glad. He is leaving his job at the end of April so that he can workout/swim and visit family and friends that are out of town. I think it really won't hit me until I take him to the recruiters office and when I am planning meals and doing laundry. It's going to be so different.
Not sure if you or your son is a member of the YMCA but they offer a 6 month free membership to anyone who is going to boot camp or any other military families who is being deployed. Since I already have a family membership we were not eligible.
