This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in May...I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of May of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions
Check out https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand. The PAO posts random photos randomly. The PAO does not usually identify the division/s photoed, so you have to look through all of them. There is no guarantee that your recruit will be photoed, but it is fun to look at the photos and get an idea of what is happening at the RTC.
Luvnailzzz, everything is fine. If it wasn't you would have received a call and that is not a call you want to receive. Remember, "No news is good news!"
Integrated divisions take longer to fill than all male divisions, so it may be longer than 10 days for those with a recruit in an integrated division. You won't know what is going on until your recruit is able to write a "real" letter or call. Again, all is well unless you hear it is not.
I have had a hard time trying to figure this site out but will just put a post here. My son left May 13th. I have been fortunate to get a phone call yesterday and this morning because he needed information. It was wonderful to here his voice! He sounded a little tired and said he ain't going to lie there were a few times he wanted to come home. He is staying strong and still excited about the future. He is ship 13 Div 233. PIR July 10th.
Luvnailzzz, 10 days after arrival is the average time to receive The Form Letter, meaning some will receive it before that and some after that. Most, but not all, have it by two weeks after arrival and the recruit will be out of P-days by then, which is why if it has been at least 2 calendar weeks since your recruit arrived at the RTC and you do not have a form letter, then you can call the recruiter and get the address and mail letters to your recruit, but be sure to double-check the address against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp or Ship/Division--How it Works.
My son's "box" just arrived by Fedex, actually a big white envelope with only his electronics. Seeing his handwriting on the address, and his name on the back, of course sent me to tears!
I think it was best my son decided not to send anything home. I've had a hard enough time just walking past his empty room. Hang in there everyone! We are in this together and together we need to be strong for our incredible sons and daughters!
I have let ellen and FTLW knkow that form letters have been received for the 07/17/2015 PIR date. Keep checking PIR 07/17/2015 TG 36 and join when it is up.
jaysmom1995 it will get better. Our son departed only one week earlier and we just received his first form letter. What an exciting day! Who would have thought that receiving a good old fashioned letter could be so fun! I'll send you a friend request. I had a rough weekend but together we need to remain strong for our incredible sons/daughters!
My daughter shipped yesterday. I have been on this site all morning. It has helped a lot. I will look forward to her box and form letter. Thank you for your site and forum.
Ok, for mom swith SR PIR date of 7/2. has anyone stayed at the Ramada on Green Bay Rd? I see everyone is at the Navy Lodge and I just wanted to inquire. Thanks
Every commercial I see now is for the Navy! Just FYI for those of you who's PIR date is July 15 book your rooms as they're going fast! Hope to meet you all in July!
Not a problem blackbelt1204, I was just hoping the 17th didn't get pushed back since we have Memorial Day and 4th of July during their time. I am so anxious to be able to see my son again.
There's so much to expect Briamommy. One thing I can share is once you get your form letter with their address write, write, write, write, write, write your SR my SR told me they appreciate all the letters they've gotten and it's sad to see when some of the other SRs gets nothing. So again I can't stress enough write your SR it helps them more than you know. :-)
Briamommy, spend some time on the N4M site, there is so much info! I'm only one week into this myself but I have learned a ton. There is a schedule of what the P-days are like, security questions, and so forth. And of course, we have each other. So welcome to you!
Expect a roller coaster of emotions. One minute you're so proud that you're on cloud 9, the next you're crying for no apparent reason - except for the fact that you miss her to pieces. My baby girl left on May 5, we're almost halfway through, it is rough but it's getting easier every day. I will reiterate the advice to write, she says it help so much. Just write anything, they look forward to getting mail! The hardest part is not knowing, so once you start getting mail and she is able to call - it gets better! And oh, this site is wonderful - it makes the time go by so much faster and it is full of great advice!
Thanks a lot cjbmom I'm really getting alot of info from this page I have my moments being happy one minute was the next I'm just waiting for a letter and her box
My son left 5/26. I cried for hours it seems after The Call at 11pm that night. I'm proud scared and excited all at the same time! I'm still in the cry when I think/ talk about him stage. Any advice would be appreciated!
I drove my sons truck today and thought I was going to have a breakdown. I had to pull over and just cry. I sure can't wait to hear from him. I must have sent him 8 letters already. He left on the 20 th and a PIR date of July 17 th.
My daughter left on the 26th and her box came today. I wasn't expecting it until next week sometime. I cried like a baby opening the box up. Now I'm just waiting for her address I'm dying to send off all these letters me and my kids wrote her.
My son got to GL on 5/19 and I received his letter today! He is in Ship 12 Division 240. Graduation is 7/17. I just mailed 11 letters and cards! I feel so much better. Quick question, how did the navy teach him to print so clear and legible?
My son left on the 21st too! Looking so forward to the letter! the mom that said she had to pull over when driving her sons car, I so get that!...my crying hits when I go in his room to put things away or clean...I just turn around quick and announce..."not ready yet"! :-)
When I went back to work right after my son left, the joke in our office was not to be nice to me. You know how when you're right at the edge of losing it and someone acts nice to you or gives you that look, you can just break down? I was trying not to be such a mess at work so everyone just kept saying "be mean to her!"
Thank you everyone for posting about all of your tears. I just started crying at Trader Joe's because that was one of the last places we went before I dropped him off at the recruiters. The next day the girl who sits next to me told me to stop crying but she doesn't have a heart. My husband and daughter have been great but I know they are missing him too.
I'm so happy to My daughter called me. She is very determined to get through these next 7 weeks. I'm happy and feel a little relieved that I heard from her she left Tuesday I got her box Thursday and I didn't expect it so soon then to have her call today was so awesome she told me her graduation date is 7/24 she said where she is right now is temporary I'm just waiting for her to get somewhere permanent so they can send me the address so we can send all these letters we've written
Jay called me this morning too. Graduation July 24 too. He is div 937. Won't move to permanent barracks until Thursday. I still don't have his box though.
