  • Phoenix Mom

My daughter arrived May 26th. No phone call.

  • MidwestMomNancy

I have to admit to getting my hopes up for a phone call. Nothing yet, my son arrived 5/20. Receiving the form letter was great, though. Someone suggested today that I could send moleskin in case he has blisters (from marching) since that would fit in a flat envelope. Any thoughts?
  • Bernapet

I just got my call! Best call ever. Makes me feel so much better! My son said its hard but he can handle it, he graduates the 17th...div 936. Yippee!

My son left from California on the 27th. Still no word on what division, PIR date, no box. I'm trying to get use to this new life but it's so hard!
  • Bernapet

Does anyone here have their sailor playing in the band? My son was surprised to be asked to play the drums. He's played since he was 7, but didn't expect to be asked to do that during boot camp!
  • Marybookgirl

My son left for Great Lakes May 12, 2015. Projected graduation date July 10th. have received 2 phone calls. The "I am here" and a phone privilege given May 23rd. No letters yet.

  • Bernapet

Awesome ROTcMoM! I think it is a really cool opportunity for them! What div?
  • jaysmom

    Bernapet
Yes my son is in the band playing trumpet
  • Bernapet

Jays mom, how exciting, they will probably be playing together. Did he play all through high school too? Did he have no intentions of doing that for the navy? When is your son graduating? I will ask my son Patrick if he has met jay.
  • lemonelephant

See 800 and 900 Divisions for more on the 900 divisions.

  • jaysmom

    Bernapet
Jay played for 3 years. Actually played me lap hone but they put him on the trumpet. When he left he did tell me that he was probably going to do the.900 division so wasn't a surprise for me. He graduates July 24. Jays first name is james. His family calls him jay, so ask Patrick if he.knoes James.
  • Luvmy2sons

Heads up I have not received an official letter with PIR information and the Navy Lodge is full. Any alternate recommendations for lodging?
  • Bernapet

Yeah, got my letter! So excited!

If you have a recruit in Division 247 or 248, what is the ship number? Thanks

  • Huggybear

lemonelephant, Division 247 is Ship 14

  • lemonelephant

Huggybear, thanks; that was my guess, but I needed someone to confirm it.

  • Bernapet

Midwestmomnancy, my son said he bought insoles there and they are really helping to make his boots feel better.
  • wheilhnpluto

My boyfriend shipped out to bootcamp on the 27th and got there late that night. I've received his box, but I haven't received a form letter even though I heard people normally get it within a week. But it's almost been 2 weeks, and I'm afraid the navy lodge will fill up if I don't receive it soon. Is there a way I can get his ship/division/pir info?

  • jaysmom

I would book it. You can always cancel later
  • MissingMyKing

Is the Navy Lodge for family members too?

  • MissingMyKing

Is it on the Great Lake Naval Station property?

  • MamaValley

MissingMyKing 3 - It is for family members... We have a reservation for PIR 7.17.15.  From what I have read before you can make a reservation there and then during PIR weekend you will want to have your SR go to the front desk to change the Reservation Name to their name... that way it is a Navy reservation.

  • MissingMyKing

how do I find the navy lodge website?

  • jaysmom

I just typed Navy Lodge Great Lakes into google. It pulls it up.
  • jaysmom

Looks like their website isn't working at the moment.
  • MissingMyKing

    okay thanks Jaysmom!

  • Luvmy2sons

My son left for RTC Great Lakes on May 26 - 14 days ago. I have not received box or letter with PIR information. There is no chance of this information being delivered anywhere else. Should I be alarmed?
  • jaysmom

    Luvmy2sons
Wow, I think I would call his recruiter. Any chance your son would have sent it elsewhere. Did you get the I'm here call?
  • mztessa1

    Hi everyone,
It is with regret that I will be sinning off the site my SR is being sent home due to medical issues. I'm so devastated but I'm still proud of her efforts. However due to the medical illness she won't be able to go further. She's been removed from her division into the other division awaiting processing. Please continue to pray for me and my family as I will continue to keep you all in my daily prayers. It's been such a pleasure getting to know you all and I'm saddened that I won't get to meet you all 7/1. Again congratulations and good luck.
  • Bernapet

You and her will be in my prayers.
  • mztessa1

    Thank you bernapet
  • MidwestMomNancy

    Mztessa1
I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, you and your daughter are in my prayers.
  • MissingMyKing

Prayers to you and your family.  Really appreciate the continued prayers.  Give your daughter a hug from all of us for her efforts. <3

  • blackbelt1204

This breaks my heart mztessa1. Please know that you, your daughter and entire family will remain in my prayers. Although we do not know what God has planned for us we take comfort in knowing there is a plan.

For I know the plans I have for you"
    declares the Lord,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
    Jeremiah 29:11

  • mztessa1

Blackbelt1204. Thank you for the reminder scripture you have me in tears now
I appreciate the prayers as they are needed. I will pray for your family as well and good luck with your SR.
  • mztessa1

Missingmyking thank you and I will do just that. Big hugs... I'm praying daily for you all.
  • mztessa1

    Midwestmomnancy thanks so much!
  • MamaCeCe

    Praying for you mztessa1!!

  • Bernapet

Anyone here have a child in div 936?
  • wheilhnpluto

I finally got a call from my boyfriend three hours ago who's in Div 250! Of course, I cried like a baby... because they didn't cut our call to less than two minutes this time. He stayed on the phone for about 15 minutes (maybe 20 because we spent so much time refusing to hang up until the next person). He said that they weren't allowed to write letters for the past two Sundays but that he'd be able to write tomorrow! He sounded tired and sick, but he's staying strong. It just made my whole day because I'd felt so disconnected from him. He says he hasn't received my letters yet (although I sent them out about five days ago) but he was so happy to know I was writing because he was super jealous of the people who had gotten mail. Overall, I'm so relieved to finally hear from him after such a long period of silence! Can't wait for PIR!

  • Bernapet

So glad you got a call, it helps the heartache, I know.  I am sure looking forward to another one from my son!  When I talked to him last he hadn't gotten any mail yet and some of the other guys had.  I felt so bad.  Enjoy the great feeling from your call!! :-)

It's not too early to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and to start discussing some of the things there with your future Sailor such as how to handle bad news and who will be put on the Access List....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

  • lemonelephant

If you have a future Sailor who is going to be in an 800 division, let me know in a comment on my My Page or in a PM (or comment in a friend request) and I will connect you with others with loved ones who will later be in the same division. DON'T openly post your future Sailor's contract or division number. Those with a future Sailor (or recruit) in a regular division or 900 division can post the division number and can post the contracted rating or field unless it is for one of the Spook ratings, but those with a loved one with a special ops contract should NEVER post that openly. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and 800 and 900 Divisions.
