DEP-Leavin' for bootcamp in May

My son leaves for Meps may 17th. May 7th, we have a low key family and friends dinner in Seattle, then mother's Day brunch and off for a fun afternoon of Parasailing weather permitting. i have been working out with my son six days a week....love the time with him but have to say I won't miss the work outs ! : ) Happy mothers Day to you all, I get the gravity of this one.

sounds great, except tears.... my daughters party is Friday.. WE have not spend one on one yet, or had heart to heart talk, but probably should.. Ugh haha so bitter sweet .. We are both ready ( well me sorta)

OMG they are.. I am not sure if I could of done this alone.. My daughter and I feel the same way.. My daughter is 19 she will be 20 in Sept.   We have had many talks since Dec. I feel I am almost talked out.. Yes she did admit she was nervous too.. I just pray for them and that they dont get hurt or ill and that they make it through all their tests and stations.. I worry about my daughters PT's

ya I think EM leaves on 18th.. They should all be together then off to MA school

I have left info on some of your My Pages about your future Sailor's (or recruit's) rating (job/specialty) and "A" School. If anyone else needs this info, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating or field and I will comment back on your My Page. I have info on every rating and field. I also have that info for the PACT programs.

If you have a future Sailor who is going to be in an 800 division, let me know in a comment on my My Page or in a PM (or comment in a friend request) and I will connect you with others with loved ones who will later be in the same division. DON'T openly post your future Sailor's contract or division number. Those with a future Sailor (or recruit) in a regular division or 900 division can post the division number and can post the contracted rating or field unless it is for one of the Spook ratings, but those with a loved one with a special ops contract should NEVER post that openly. See OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and 800 and 900 Divisions.

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so (especially if you have a recruit at the RTC) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Tricia, although EM leaves at the same time as your future Sailor, she does not have a contract for MA unless her contract has changed. Recruits with similar contracts do ship around the same time, but there will also be others with a variety of other contracts.

Well, he's off to the Recruiter's office.  The good luck party was Saturday night and lots of fun.  Today I let his Dad, GF and a friend take him to the recruiting office.  Tomorrow we will go down to MEPS and watch the swearing in.  After all these months its finally happening.  I waited until he left before I sat down and had my cry.  I know always felt bad when my Mom cried when I left so I wanted to spare him that. Too much emotion and nerves already with all of us. I told him no matter what happens I'm proud of you and I'll see you in July.  Now comes the worry and the waiting.:( But its all good.. so happy for him to have a path that he is excited about.  Thanks for listening.

awww New2Navy hugs to you.. My daughter leaves next Tuesday to MEPS then swears in Wed.. We will go stay over because its 3 hours each way. Its so bitter/sweet that is for sure..

Well, it's done.  My husband & I spent the day at MEPS yesterday with our son and watched him swear in.  He got on a plane this morning and is on his way to Great Lakes.  I was blessed to enjoy some special times with him over the last few months and hope that those memories will see me through these next 2 months.  Praying for all of you who are traveling this journey with me.

Thanks to all for your prayers and support.  For those who ship out later in the month, don't expect much from the "I'm here" call after they arrive.  My son's call was a rushed 15 seconds tops. :)  Guess I will wait for the box and letter...so begins life in the military!

ya Shannon that is what I hear.. All I am going to say is I love you and I am proud of you.. I know what she is going to tell me anyways.. as long as we say love you to eachother :) then we wait 

Due to the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Pass-In-Review/Graduation will be held on Thursday, June 30.

We have been made aware that some recruits may have sent home form letters stating July 1 was the graduation date. That is incorrect. Recruits set to graduate that weekend will do so on Thursday, June. 30.

Recruits staying in Great Lakes for "A" School will have liberty Thursday through Monday evening and they must return to the base each night.

Recruits going out of state for "A" School will have only Thursday for liberty or, if there is an issue with ticket availability, they may have Friday. They will not know until they receive their orders during their final week of training, and only they may give out their itinerary details.

I was counting the months, then weeks, then days and now it's almost down to hours ? How did that go soooo fast ! ? May 17 MEPS, May 18 Bootcamp  !

Ok my son ships out on the 24th. Bumped up from August.  He took the week off from work so we could spend some time together. This site has definitely calmed my nerves.  While I am a nervous wreck I am at least a controlled nervous wreck.  lol!  I have to have a plan to feel comfortable. Before finding this site I had no clue what to expect.  Now I do. Thank you for everyone who helps makes us newbies feel better!

didntcthiscoming - I take solace in the thought that the time that our kids are away at boot camp will go quickly too.  I'm only one week in - but that's a week closer to see my Sailor.

Good Morning, Can they bring a purse or something to carry their wallet, bible, etc in , and then ship it back at BC?
