Edwards19 ( Tricia ) thanks nice idea. Today I am having a rough day for some reason not sure why but missing my girl like crazy.

  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

LovemySailor51816 yes I did that Sunday.. Her recruiter gave me her Div number and Berth number , but will wait on form..   Its almost been a week we have not had contact so I am assuming we would feel better on some days and not so good on others.. I have made it a week with no tears, I have to be proud of that haha

  • Em's mom

I am thinking of my daughter all the time, wondering how she is doing. Just praying that she is with a good group that will be supportive to each other... maybe one of your daughters! :)
I have already started writing letters. Just writing about stuff that is going on at home. Hoping she'll feel a little normal once she finally gets them. As her world has changed so fast. All for the good tho! (I hope)

    didntcthiscoming and Edwards19 ( Tricia )

How many days has it been? Jus t wondering when I might get my sons. He left yesterday (Monday). I pretty much held it together yesterday, but today I am a mess!

  • lemonelephant

Patriciab, 3 to 4 business days after arrival is the average time to receive "the box." Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

  • LovemySailorAlyssa

I got my daughters box today as well with a little u love you note that made me break down
  • lemonelephant

If your future Sailor has yet to ship, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so (especially if you have a recruit at the RTC) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

  • Indychic75

My son left on the 17th and I received his box yesterday. Even though I knew it was coming I still got teary right when I saw it. Cant't wait to get his letter!
  • didntcthiscoming

You know your whole life has changed when you cling on getting your kids smelly (mine) clothes in the mail, and hang on every others Mom's words like it's gold. LOL. Thank you all for being here ! Only we get this. : )

  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

I got my daughters box yesterday and she smuggled a folded up note in her pocket.. I was so happy

  • lemonelephant

Tricia, there is no smuggling in a note. It is something she was able to do if she wrote the note prior to getting to the RTC. It is something that we encourage recruits to do on the way to the RTC if they read Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for.... I hope that you included a note to her in her wallet to encourage her until she gets a letter from you in about three weeks.

  • Indychic75

Got my letter that with PIR info!!! He left 5/17 and graduates 7/15!! Hotel is booked! Yay!!
  • didntcthiscoming

Indychic75 How exciting for you !

  • Andrea

My son left for bootcamp from AZ today. I'm so ridiculously sad but trying to keep things in perspective. I'm really tech challenged & am not even sure if I'm adding this in the right spot to ask questions. Does anything know what I should expect & in what order? He didn't take a cell phone with him so does anyone know how they allow calls to home? I feel clueless/lost in this to the point of really not even knowing what to ask. Is there any specific info I should be prepared to ask him if/when he calls? Does he send me info on PIR or how do I find this out because as of today I have no info whatsoever on what to expect. Thanks for any help/advice/information.
  • lemonelephant

Andrea, Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

  • lemonelephant

Andrea, your recruit will have to borrow a cell phone to make the "I'm here!" call. After that, calls will be from a pay phone with a phone card that he will purchase at the NEX. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

The Form Letter arrives an average of ten days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC. Some will have it 7 days after arrival (a few earlier than that, but not many) and most will have it by 14 days after arrival. It will tell you your recruit's address and PIR date and other important information. Keep it in a safe place.

    Check your My Page.

  • Andrea

Perfect. I just saw all the nuke stuff too. Thx so much! I'm so glad I got on here tonight.
My pity party was getting lame!
  • lemonelephant

Andrea, welcome to the next part of the journey.

  • lemonelephant

I have left info on some of your My Pages about your recruit's (or future Sailor's) rating (job/specialty) and "A" School. If anyone else needs this info, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating or field and I will comment back on your My Page. I have info on every rating and field. I also have that info for the PACT programs.

  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

lemonelephant  haha yes I included a note in her wallet.. Smuggling is just a phrase.. However when they empty pockets  and someone is watching they will make them throw anything out.. I know a few that that happened too :)

  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

Andrea  My daughter left out of Az also last week..   I have alot of info also I can share, but this page and others are awesome for all the info too.. Welcome to the Page

  • lemonelephant

It is more often that things, including trash, will go in "the box" than in the trash can when they are telling them to put things in the box and get rid of things they can't have. Loved ones have gotten candy wrappers and receipts for items purchased along the way that the recruit had stuck in a pocket or bag.

  • Em's mom

Got the form letter today! It's crazy how a form letter, same one sent to thousands, can bring so much joy!!!! But ours was from our daughter, so that makes it special!!! Now I can send the letters I have already written!
  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

awesome Em's mom .. I inboxed you back too

  • Patriciab

I got my son's box today. That was good for a long cry.

     BookWorm great ..

Patriciab glad you got the box  Hugs to you

  • didntcthiscoming

This was so coming...by noon today after receiving my sons letter. Literally, I didn't feel well. Went to work, at high noon, I feel like crying....finally ! Been a long time and coming, as right after he left I was in Seattle for new job training...never took a breath. So, LOL I was saying to self...AnnMarie, take a break go outside...pull it together...you will be fine. So...... Long story shorter, I go outside..Just on the verge on complete breakdown. And the Navy Blue Angels fly over in 30 sec's.... Yep. Lost it. Enough said.

  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

didntcthiscoming awwww sorry.. Hugs to you.. but what a great thing that happened

  • Patriciab

Yay! we got the form letter today with the PIR date. It was earlier than I thought. Even better!

  • Ckers94

Congrats!  Mine left a day after yours.  I just got the box today.  When is the PIR date if you don't mind me asking?

  • Patriciab

I got the box Friday and the letter today. His PIR is July 15th. I thought it would be the 22nd, which is my birthday, but at least I get to see him earlier. We have always teased him about his sloppy handwriting. I have never seen it neater than on the form letter!

Patriciab wait until you get his first real letter..  All caps and very neat.  I swear it was the first time I could easily read something my son wrote! I say, Go Navy already :)))

  • RMac

My son left 5/23 & was shocked to already receive the letter with his expected PIR date 7/15. So happy to know he wasn't stuck in P days that long.

  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

Anyone that had a loved one leave May 18th NOT get their form letter yet ?
  • Indychic75

Received my first real letter today!! It was so great to hear from him. One of the first things he mentioned was that he passed his swim test, he was a little nervous about that. He also said he was going to look like Hulk Hogan at the end of this with all the PT. he called his new glasses Buddy Holly glasses. Glad his sense of humor is still there! He called his dad today. The calls have been weird. This was the third call. Today lasted one minute and he couldn't talk but wanted to say hi because his dad hasn't been home the last two calls. Not sure what's going on with the frequent calls, I'm grateful for all contact it's just different than what we were told. I can't wait for you all to get your letters if you haven't yet. I can't tell you how much better I feel. :-)
  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

Indychic75 Awesome when did he leave ?

  • Indychic75

Edwards19 - he left 5/17 so just over two weeks gone.
  • Edwards19 ( Tricia )

Indychic75 Wow I have not even got her form letter and she left on 18th

  • Indychic75

Oh no, I'm sorry. I hope you get your letter (both) soon. He said they were given time to write on Sundays during holiday time so maybe it will come this week yet.
