DEP-Leavin' for bootcamp in June

Had my sons Suprise graduation/going away party yesterday. It was great seeing the look on his face seeing his closest family and friends there.  Just makes it even more real that the countdown is on til he leaves June 12.

Just a few days until he will be at MEPS preparing  for Cardinal Navy Company, so technically gone from home, and then leaving for BC  June 1st.  While he is ready to get started, this Momma is feeling a little stressed and anxious in preparing for party and then him immediately leaving right after.  So much to handle in a little amount of time.  While I am glad that I can see him in the evening prior to, June 1st will be hard.  Stock in Kleenex should have been purchase. 

My daughter leaves from California on June 12th. First child to leave and trying to handle the emotions.

I'm right there with you NavyWildcat.  My daughter is my first as well.  It's pretty tough.  I keep trying to remember the Navy will prepare her well for the task at hand.  I am fine a lot of the time, but then I'm not.  I will remember you on the 12th as well and keep you in my prayers.

Son leaves June 13th.  It is finally starting to sink in that my baby boy (he's 22...lol) won't be a baby anymore. 

My son leaves June 14th and is 22 also.  Finally reality is setting in.

LSUMom95...My son leaves on June 12 (also my baby...  my only son/child).  And he is also 22 lol.  Hopefully they'll be put in the same division!  Even as former Navy, this is way harder than it was ever sending him to college.  I am proud, but going to miss him so!  Definitely keep my posted!

Ack & LSUMom95 glad to hear my son isn't gong to be the only older one!!  We'll definitely have to keep each other posted!

My son is leaving on June 20th. Trying to haul in the emotions and be strong for him, but it doesn't take much to make me tear up right now.

My youngest son leaves June 12th.  My oldest son has been in the Navy for over 3 years now.  You would think I would be more prepared, but I am not.  My oldest is currently on a mission, so I can't talk to him for a while.  I figured going through this a second time would not be as difficult since I know what to expect, but this is harder than I expected it to be.  I've got my big girl panties on though and am being positive.  I am having trouble finding prepaid calling cards for him though.  Everything I find seems to be for cell phones instead of landlines.  Has anyone found a prepaid calling card that works?  If so, where did you pick it up?  Thanks!

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so (especially if you have a recruit at the RTC) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

I have left info on some of your My Pages about your future Sailor's (or recruit's) rating (job/occupational specialty) or field and "A" School. If anyone else needs this info, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating or field and I will comment back on your My Page. I have info on every rating and field. I also have that info for the PACT programs.

My son leaves on June 21st for Boot Camp. Anyone else?

17 Hours until my son checks into a hotel in Phx then leaves on Monday, June 12th for boot camp.

1 hour til we leave to send our daughter off to MEPS for final swear in.  Monday she flys out to boot camp to start her life.  Very emotional this weekend for her dad and I.  We are so proud of her.  Now the waiting game for the box, letter over the next few weeks.

NavyWildcat you are not alone. We have three hours left and it's been a emotional weekend.

Ok he went to meps again on Sunday and he left this morning for boot camp.I tried not to cry so I excused myself so he wouldn't see me.  OK let's do this moms

My son left for Boot Camp yesterday. I have no idea what to expect. 

My son left for bootcamp last wed, June 7 from California.  I just received his box today.  Even though I knew it was coming I was not prepared for the emotions when I opened his box.  I keep watching the video I took of his swearing in ceremony.  I cant wait until I can send my son the letters I've been writing and to hear his voice again.  PIR cannot get here soon enough.  <3

The Form Letter with their mailing addresses and other important info usually shows up around 10 days after arrival at RTC, give or take a couple days.

The box with his civilian clothes, phone and other stuff he can't keep will arrive first, but unless he had the forethought to scribble a last minute note while on the bus don't expect anything more personal than the smell of his shoes.
