This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in Dec..I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of Dec of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions
My son called his Dad a little while ago. It was a business call my son said. He was needing numbers the Navy could talk to about his security clearance. My son did say that more than likely they would be calling tomorrow. So.... for sure ladies who kids are in Ship 13 Div 079 keep the phones close tomorrow.
I was encouraged to start a discussion forum to post my little dittys so people could find them easily and anyone new could read them. I hope this link works. If not, I have them posted on the Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) group. Original songs/poems to lift ones spirit
jordansmom and Bobbi (and anyone else who got a box) LOOK in the pockets, shoes, anywhere a note could be tucked. Some lucky mommas and poppas did find them! If you didn't get the box, Tell the person who did to LOOK!
Also, when you get the form letters, some recruits may have written a note on the flap before sealing it. I wasn't one of those moms who got extra notes, but your recruit MAY think to do it.
lovemynavyson The pants are rolled up when they get fitted for the boots. Most don't take/have the time to unroll them. My son sent back his shirt with sleeves inside out, socks all balled up and of course the undies (I told him I didn't want those back) in a wad. So typical for mine, I wasn't shocked. Threw them in the wash right away, no cologne smell, just stinky kid recruit!
jordansmom I can sooo...ooo relate. My son's box and letter went to his dad.
I almost stopped visiting here for a few days because everytime someone shared about getting the box I felt overwhelmingly sad and jealous. But I braved through it and everytime someone shared about getting the box I would grab his jacket he left on the back of the chair, hold it tight and take a good wiff of that. Then I thought, hey this smells a lot better than what a lot of moms are getting! :) I started writing letters, making cards and word finds to send as soon as I got that address. Keep your chin up! The strangest things make us Navy moms feel sad...but we are strong because WE ARE NAVY MOMS!

My son Ship 09 Div 076 called. He is very emotional, cried, said it is very emotionally challenging. He said they get way too much time to think. I'm so happy we heard from him but it broke my heart to hear him crying. We both stayed strong while on the phone with him though and I hope that helps him.
My son sounded stressed, but not as stressed as his message he left me last Sunday. He said that their official start of training was Thursday, the other days were still p days and that they were hard because they were boring. He asked for lots of prayers and for mail...lots of mail! He did not cry but he was elated to hear my voice. I told him to remember that he is where God lead him to be and that his everlasting arms are underneath him supporting him and helping to carry the extra load. He thanked me for saying that. Let's keep uplifting our kiddos in prayer...they need it!
I just received my phone call from my son this morning, I was so happy to hear is voice, He was very emotional, (cried), It brake my heart to hear him cry, He just started training yesterday, he's on Ship 11 Div. 078
SoCalMom, others with loved ones in that division and its brother division, Division 077, received the form letter today, so perhaps today will be your day and if not, then Monday. You can start making plans since you know that PIR is 01/31/2014.
My son Nick left Dec 4th 2013 and is on ship 14 div. 073 with a grad date of Jan 24th. Anyone out there with the same info? Anyone get calls today? I'm waiting and the suspense is killing me, I want to hear from him so badly.
Bobbij1026. My son is on ship 14 div. 073!! I have not yet received a phone call but sm anxiously waiting!! I will send you a friend request so that we can keep in contact.
My son arrived at GL on Wednesday. When will I find out the ship and division? Is it possible that we might get a call tomorrow and if so about how long are these phone calls? I haven't seen my son since Tuesday and I am missing him SO MUCH! My daughter passed 10 years ago and I am going through many of the same feelings. Rationally I know it isn't the same but my heart doesn't seem to understand!
Foursons1angel, on my goodness my heart breaks for you! My son arrived on December 4th and today was my first calls besides the I am here call. I got his address on Monday from his recruiter and then received the Form letter on Thursday.
Foursons1angel, Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will help you with the timeline of when to expect things. Know that form letters are taking 2 weeks or longer right now for many, but the average time is still 10 days after arrival. Calls can come on any day, not just on Sunday and can be very short (that is often the case for the first few calls) to close to an hour (more common after BST). See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.
I am gonna ask a favor or everyone getting their boxes, letters, calls etc. Could you state in your message when your loved one arrived at boot camp. I obviously don't expect a call from my son yet since he only arrived Tuesday but it does give a perspective of where your loved one is in relation to others. I can't believe how excited I am to see total strangers getting calls from their loved ones even while I'm sitting here crying wanting to hear from mine. Today is the first day that I have cried since Tuesday. I am trying so hard to be strong for him but I miss him so much.
VCat, my situation doesn't sound "normal" but here is my timing. Arrived at GL 12-2 and got the I'm here call. FedEx attempted delivery of the box Friday 12-6. They came back Saturday 12-7. First "real" call on Sunday 12-8. Form letter on Monday, 12-9. I believe I got a call so early due to the fact that he is in the 911 performance division. He said there were recruits in that division that had been there for a week or more so I'm guessing he was lucky to fill one of the last spots and get a phone call since the others were on P-hold for so long. Hope that helps...
ChristieMomof3S13D079, Thanks for heads up yesterday. My son called today around 12:30pm. I was so glad to hear from him. He sounded fine. He did say it is freezing up there but they are given gear to keep warm. He said he is going to morning service tomorrow. I just encouraged him to stay in prayer and I will continue to pray for him and the rest of the recruits.

Kaiti's mom, start writing now. You just can't mail the letters until you get the form letter.
