This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in Dec..I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of Dec of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions

My son also arrived on the 10th & I haven't gotten the letter. I guess we can take comfort in the fact that many others are still waiting.

So chatted with a buddy of mine who was in the navy and he had some good tips and tricks...... the food in chicago is AMAZING.... if u r looking for something to do during liberty go to the navy pier there is great food there also and so the SR dont have to store them all once they have read the letters send them home with their letters and keep in a keepsake box till the return... thought that was a great idea

I havent heard anything from my son yet either - he got to Chicago on the 6th of Dec. Cant stand checking the mail each day and not finding a note to know how he is doing or when the PIR will be. Maybe I will hear something today....

"The letter" did not arrive yet. My son arrived at GL on the 11th. If I follow the example they gave of a recruit arriving on a Wednesday then tomorrow should be the big day. WATCH OUT MAILMAN!

Hi babblesnboyz, My so is ship 3 DIV 086. Got the form letter today but nothing personal. Just their ship#, Grad date, and who's on the list for attending grad. Hope to get a real letter soon. My son arrived at basic training on Dec. 10th.

I haven't received the letter yet...bummer. But, it seems there are a lot of variables so I will keep busy and try not to think about whats going on with my daughter. She left on Dec 10; I pray for her every chance I get. Sure do miss having her around and I am glad other mothers are getting letters and/or calls.

I am one happy mom this morning. got a phone call from my son. Was so awesome to hear his voice. Hes sick but passed his swim test yesterday.

lovemynavyson, what ship and div is your son? My phone call last Saturday was pretty much the same as yours. It is heart breaking. My son is Ship 09 Div 076.

I received a cal this morning! I was so happy to hear my sons voice! He sounded great and said that everything was going great! A load off my mind because I was so worried. In his words - Mom it's not too bad- he said he he is ship 3 div 086.

I just received a call from son. He is on Ship 9 Div 88. I could not believe it when I answered the phone and it was him. He said everything is going good, it's hard but not bad. PIR 02/07. So relieved to hear from him.

Our son told us last Saturday that he had 3 letters written, just waiting to be able to send them out. He has been writing at night. Just not sure why he wasn't able to mail them like he said.

We just got a call from our SR in ship 04 Div081, he has not been able to send letters out yet. Maybe starting this Monday. He says the food is good, and I was so glad to hear from him!!

Mine got to BC on Dec 11th. I got the letter today!!! I missed his call this morning which makes me sad, but he did leave a message. He is in Ship 09 Div 088! I feel better knowing "where" he is and that I can send those letters out! Hope all of you receive letters and calls today!!!

I got the Form letter today!!!!!!! Ship 11 Div 090 PIR 2/7/14 and had another love note inside the envelope and a family message on the letter :0) feeling soooo loved and so proud!!!

Still no letter or call kinda discouraged and don't know whether to be worried or what. My daughter shipped out Dec 10 and all we have received is the box. Two things were not in the box; her bank card and her retainer. At least she got to keep the retainer! I have been through many many circumstances in my life to teach me patience but this is the test of all tests!

Mamabear, my daughter arrived on the 10th as well and we have only gotten the box. No form letter or call. So, you're not alone. Have you called her recruiter to have them look up her info in the computer? I know it is not the 'for sure' address but it still made me feel better to know what ship and division she was listed as.

I got a call from my husband tonight, right at 8pm EST. It was super short, 5 minutes. I wish it was a bit longer like some of the other calls. He is in DIV 807. Any others hear from their recruits in this division? He said much the same as others. Its hard. I was so surprised to hear from him so quickly that I ended up crying from being so happy to hear his voice.

At 951 pst 1151 cst i got a call from an 847 number rolling heights IL that wasnt hubby was it?? I missed it i slept through it and no message.... They woulnt call that late would they???? I hope i didnt miss his call :0(

@Danigirl The call I got was from an 847 number. I didn't think that they called that late. I thought it was limited to 8am - 8pm.

Hi MdMom, my son is also with Ship 04 Div 81. He hasn't called again after the first one when he arrived at the BC, no letters after the form letter. Hope they are doing well. Hope he calls this week, he said he couldn't call the first 2 weeks. Glad you got your call.

Beth, Some are. My son arrived 3 weeks ago tomorrow and I have gotten 3 real calls plus the "I'm here" call. Yesterdat he said it was the last call till battle stations which is about 3 more weeks out
