DEP-Leavin' for bootcamp in December

Well ladies, yesterday was our day.  My daughter shipped out in afternoon and I received the call around 9pm.  I am crying at the drop of a hat still and having trouble focusing on work and other things that really need my attention.  I am grateful for this site - everything has happened like the comments here have said it would.  It seems as if the things we were told by the recruiting team are off a bit.  I started my first letter this morning already ... can't wait for February and my chance to see her.

I just watched the live stream of today's graduation ceremony (my son just left for boot camp last week) and it was truly an amazing thing to watch.  Dry eyed until the very end when they call Liberty Call!  Then you see all of the sailors hugging each other and then looking for their families and then seeing the families running to them.  Can not wait for my day to be there for my son!!

My son left on Dec 3rd and the box came on Dec 8th and the letter today on Dec 11.  My understanding is the days in between each event can vary.  But I hope this helps!!!

Mom4Sailor, they are very strict on attendees; however, a great idea would be to take a laptop to the hotel, the twins can watch livestream ... then, if he has liberty, he can visit there.  :-)

Elizabeth it should be there in the next day or so.  Its so nice to finally get it.  I just got mine today and already mailed 3 letters today!

Got my letter today.  My SR is in Ship 14 Div 079!!!  PIR January 29th.  Anybody else have a SR in that Division?

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so (especially if you have a recruit at the RTC) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make--at least change 3; make change 4 if your profile pic includes your future Sailor or recruit) and then go on to Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Akmomto - hugs and kisses and lots of encouraging words is the top thing you can do.  Let her know how much she is loved, admired and respected for her decision to serve her country.  Remind her she is strong and capable and that she "has this"!  I also made sure my son had a phone card, tons of stamps and some addresses and a few phone numbers written down in his wallet.  Also make sure you have her best friends numbers so you can text them updates and her address once you get it so they can write.  One question I did ask my son based on what was listed on this site under the prep for their leaving was: "In the event there is a death back here what do you want to be notified of" and I truly left the decision up to him.  I know this is an motional and difficult time, just had my son leave last week (and believe me all I did was sob, couldn't even cry, I sobbed) all day every day, but they have to know we will be ok and we help them with that my reinforcing to them that they are amazing and selfless and we could not be any prouder.  Then hug them non stop until the moment she is pulled away to head to the airport.  Sending you love and hugs from one sad and proud Navy mom to another.  XOXOXOXO

My daughter (Jess) arrived on Dec 8th, we received her box yesterday.

PIR: 01/22/2016 TG 11 - 13 Divisions (069-078, 805, 806, and 911) 3 guests. (Divisions not confirmed by the RTC.)

PIR: 01/29/2016 TG 12 (to be updated; begins with Division 079 and contains Division 912) Loved ones are reporting 3 guests

NO PIR 02/12/2016 or 02/19/2016

My recruit arrived last Thursday the 10th and the box just showed up!  I was a bit surprised as I wasn't expecting it this quickly.  Must be karma that I was home today as I'm usually not.  Everything inside was as expected, including the rolled up pant legs.  Just when I was beginning to feel a bit more stable; this just makes me sad all over again thinking about how much I miss her.  Well onward we go ... form letter next!  Thanks to all on here - you are wonderfully supportive and I appreciate it.

Lemonelephant - I noticed in your comment with the latest PIR dates that you skipped a week - 2/5/15.  I assuming that has not been announced yet?  I'm also guessing that No PIR on 2/12 and 2/19 are because the RTC does not process for the last two weeks in December?  I'm hoping that my recruit will be in the 2/5 PIR.

My son left on the 10th and I got his box today. When I opened the door I could not hold back the tears. The young Fed Ex boy about my sons age gave me a big hug after I signed for his box. He as no idea how much that hug meant.

My daughter's box arrived today. She arrived on the 9th.  Still waiting for the letter with contact information.

My son's box arrived today. He shipped on 12/8. No contact info included. I have to believe that no news is good news.

My son arrived on the 10th also, should receive the box today but missed delivery because of work, got the delivery notice.

MirandasMem, there will be a PIR on 02/05/2016, but the group has not been created yet since ellen and FTLW wait to create the PIR groups until someone receives The Form Letter.
