DEP-Leavin' for bootcamp in December

Shorelinemom - our son left today too around that same time.  We too are awaiting that “I’m here” call.  

Tonight he arrived at RTC and I did get the first scripted phone call. I cried when I got off the phone.  I am proud of him, but I will miss him and it makes me sad.  My children are grown and this will be the first time we will not be together for Christmas.  

SPBG - I hope your call comes soon!

Shorelinemom - just got the scripted call.  We heard yelling in the background!  I hope you can enjoy your Christmas - but I understand, this will be our first Christmas apart.  

Yep..got the call last night...same thing here..short scripted call that lasted 15 sec....it really has hit me...missing him very much!

SPBG - I wonder what the yelling was about.  My call was quiet.  We did a "mini" Christmas before he left which makes me feel better.  I have other family coming over which will keep me busy on Christmas.  That should help.  I hope yours goes well.  

shellyh -I think my call was 14 seconds.  I felt bad because I think I interrupted his scripted call by trying to tell him I loved him - I was afraid of not having enough time.  lol I hope you are feeling better.  I am doing better, but it hits me at random times.  

shorelinemom - I kind of did the same thing..I interrupted him...but then I let him finish and then he was gone...they are probably really tired and their bodies are saying "what the heck?"

Hoping our loved ones were finally able to get some sleep last night!  I just sit here & try to think what he's doing right now.  I don't think it's still set in that I won't speak to him for possibly 3 weeks!  My phone is permanently attached to my hand now.   But another day down means another day closer to seeing his face.

shellyh  Thank you for sharing the part about interrupting him on that call - it made me feel better that I was not the only one . . .I felt better last night knowing they would finally be able to get some sleep.  

I dropped my son off Tuesday and he left on Wednesday. Wed wasn’t too bad since we texted some and had one real call from the airport. When I received “the call” later, I missed half of it because my phone was switching to Bluetooth in my car!  But I did get in “I love you”. Now I’m just waiting for “the package” and “the letter”. This site is great and very informative.  Definitely makes me feel less lonely!

"The Box" arrived today!  Today my twin daughters turned 26 and arrived home (coming home from a birthday breakfast out) to find a strange white van in the driveway.  It made them nervous - so they went in and locked the door.  Luckily the driver left the package off.  lol

My son left on 12/13. I cried the whole day. His dad reported that this box arrived today. I think I'm grateful that it went to his house instead of mine as it might have triggered a waterfall of tears. I'm so proud of him! 

Lisa and Mary Anne my son left Dec 11th from Indianapolis.  I have also received his box....hoping that they all are doing o.k.  I will add you two to my friends and let you know if I receive or hear anything....hang in there "WE GOT THIS!"

Hi Navy Moms. My son left yesterday and got his call at 11:30 last night. What a whirlwind day full of emotion!  Sounds like they were to have a very long day leading into today. Thankful for all of you willing to share your experiences and know we aren't alone in all of this.  He is our only "kid", so this empty nest thing is tough.

Hello everyone.  My son went to GL on December 13th. Anyone else? Tomorrow will be a week.  I think about him every waking moment. We got his box on monday...that was bittersweet.  I am so proud of him and can't wait for his form letter!

PIR can’t come soon enough!

Merry Christmas eve to all!  Our son arrived at BC on 12/18 and we received his "box" today.  Broke my heart unpacking his clothes, etc.  I have read in some other posts about having received a form letter in boxes that were returned, I didn't see one in our sons box.  Is that normal?

Merry Christmas amazing, strong Moms!  We got our box yesterday as well-wish it were an address, but getting closer. Lots of thoughts and prayers to our recruits and all of you!

I received the call that my son arrived at RTC midnight (Pacific Time) 12/12/18, so technically 12/13/18. I received his box that Saturday, but was not home to sign for it, so had to wait til Monday. Can't wait to get a letter from him. I miss him terribly and just wish I knew how he was doing. I'm so very proud of him. 

My son left on Dec 12, and I finally got his address. Now I can finally start writing. PIR Feb 8, 2019  Cant get here soon enough  

I received the form letter today. Yay! Now I have the info of where to write to. So exciting. His PIR is 2/8/19. Time to start planning!

My son arrived at B.C. on 12/17/18. Anyone else?

I've read several posts from those of you receiving your letters from your recruits that arrived on 12/11 and 12/12!  That's such exciting news as my son arrived on 12/13, so we should be getting our letters very soon!! I am so excited and can't wait to hear from him and what division he's in and his official PIR date so we can start planning and sending him letters! I miss him so much and we are so very proud of our son! I know that everyone on here is just so very proud of their recruits, as you should be! It's really great to be able to hear about others and be able to relate, so... thanks to everyone's comments! I love reading them, so keep them coming. 

Hi. I’m from North Texas and my son arrived at BC on 12/10. He is in DIV 806. Excited to have connected with all you wonderful moms. We’re one big Navy family now.

my son left for bc 12/18 from ny,  I don't know what division hes in.  I was expecting a call at x-mas but nothing  I did receive his box with his drivers lic in pocket  he did call to have that sent back ASAP,  I wonder how many push ups he had to do LOL  When will I find out what division hes in and his PIR

fneume05 - yay! another BC 12/17 mom. I dont know what else to call us since we dont know divisions/groups or whatever they are called. I'm just now learning some terminology. 

dawnyd08 - when my son called the night he arrived on 12/17 he said he'd call in a couple of weeks so we weren't expecting a call on Christmas. I'm sorry that you thought your son may call. I'm sure that made for a tougher Christmas than it already was. Btw try to look on bright side of extra pushups- he will ace that part of PT with that extra practice.

fneume05- I'm with you- hoping PIR is 2/8 too. I think since our guys got there before 12/21 that should be their date. It's my understanding that no one comes for 2 weeks end of Dec (reason for no PIRS last 2 weeks of Feb) it would make sense although it doesn't seem long enough but a PIR 3/1 would seem too long. I have no info for sure- it's just kind of what I have gathered- I could be totally wrong.

My son left 12/13!  Got his box but no letter!  Anxiously waiting!!!

PIR is currently set for 2/8. I've scheduled flight and reserved hotel. My biggest worry and concern right now is transportation once there. I have no idea what the area is like. I really do not want to drive in snow. I'm not sure how far onto the base we can get with an UBER or how close everything (picking up tickets and getting to where the graduation is) if we had to walk. How is everyone else handling this. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 

CCCA- when did your recruit start BC? I'm trying to figure out when PIR will be. 

If your recruit arrived on 12/172018 or 12/18/2018, then PIR will be 02/08/2019 as long as your recruit passed the initial run of the Baseline PFA. Your recruits will be in Push Divisions and will be in one of the last divisions of the TG. It is a large TG with 16 divisions so there are only three guests.

They just had the Baseline PFA in the last couple of days so form letters went out yesterday or today, so you should be getting them soon. Remember that the form letter now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at RTC and that is next week.

lemonelephant - what's a push division? Is the baseline PFA much the same as the one he did with his recruiter?

What a bummer! No letter today:(  It’s been 15 days since my son left for GL. I thought for sure we would get his letter today, bummer! Maybe tomorrow.

 We are getting his form letter today!! I am so excited! Just got notice from USPS informed delivery that his letter is coming today! Y’all should check it out… It is a free service
