ME can you private message me your e-mail address.  I think I have it somewhere but....  I talked to my sister and she said they have new regulations on use of pictures.  I do have another e-mail with pictures I can send you.

I am going to just say a prayer for all my sisters on HAE that they have peace, comfort and guidance with their problems.

Will try to post picture of my sister-in-law's front yard yesterday.

  • m'smom

This is her front yard.  She lives in Poolesville, Maryland, just outside DC.  This is a field where they keep their cattle usually.

Here's one of my Sailors that I made a personalized pc for! He graduated today 9/9/11 from Boot Camp in Great Lakes!  HooYah!
  • Maryellen

That is so cool, your sending him off to the fleet the right way, he looks like one happy camper.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

m's mom, that's her front yard?????  I thought it was a lake!  oh my.  We had some rain today and it was wonderful.

quilt, this is your son?  did you get to go to PIR?  He's a very handsome young man.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    love the new heading.
  • Cindylaine (MN Mom)

quilt-I will be praying for you and your husband.  We went through the same thing last year.  God will provide an answer.

I have changed the music to honor ALL those who died or were injured 10 years ago today.  I wish that first song was complete cause it's really good.  I have it on my Navy band CD.

I am wearing my apron with snowmen dressed as Army, Navy, Air Force, Firefighters and Policemen.  Plus flags, and a banner that says
    UNITED WE STAND.

It is a sad day in our history and I am praying for all who were affected by the murder of 3,000 Americans that day.   And for our troops and their families who have gone to war to keep us free.  I know you all are too.

I changed our numbers this morning.   Thank you to all who continue to work so hard on these special projects.  I know our troops so appreciate the permanent hug that we send them and they have some comfort from home to put their "head at ease" when it is time to sleep.

Had some refreshing rain yesterday afternoon and evening.  Cooled things off.  I even sewed an apron (I needed a new patriotic one) and a pillowcase!  whoohoo.

    Felt so good to sew.

    'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

    'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

You say you will never forget where you were when
you heard the news On September 11, 2001.
    Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room
with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.' I
held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the
peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it
is OK...I am ready to go.'

I was with his wife when he called as she fed
breakfast to their children. I held her up as she
tried to understand his words and as she realized
he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a
woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been
knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said.
'Of course I will show you the way home - only
    believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest
ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He
    heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat,
with every prayer. I was with the crew as they
were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the
believers there, comforting and assuring them that their
    faith has saved them.

I was in Texas, Virginia, California, Michigan, Afghanistan.
I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
    Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew
every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me
for the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath.
Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take
my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
    But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You
may not know why, but I do. However, if you were
there in that explosive moment in time, would you have
    reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey
for you. But someday your journey will end. And I
will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may
be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are
    'ready to go.'

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

    God
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

that's wonderful ME.  thanks for posting it.
  • quiltblue

Another one of my Sailors with her personalized pc! This is the big sister of the young man... and this is a photo of her parents too! So smart of her to capture them in her photo! Can you imagine... daughter PIRd on 4/1/11 and son PIRd on 9/9/11.

  • Maryellen

That is so awsome I love the picture and the pillowcase. Thanks for sharing it wil us.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

nice photo and pillowcase quilt.  what does it say in the yellow stripe?
  • m'smom

ME-I have seen that poem before but it is still a strong statement even after multiple readings.  Thank you!

I did struggle in Church yesterday.  We sang Heal Our Land and then went into America the Beautiful which ends as we all know with the words 'From Sea to shining Sea'.  That is what my sailor was doing yesterday-flying from sea to sea.  It always makes me tear up when I think of what he has signed on to do.  I think even he forgets at times since he is not stationed on a ship.  I don't think he gets the big picture of how even the seemingly unimportant transporting of an Admiral can be apart of the greater whole!

God Bless all our troops and first responders who give of themselves everday !

Love the pic Quilt she looks very happy.

  • quiltblue

I always embroider the girls names on the band... she loves shells and I was so happy to find such wonderful prints!

I was able to Skype with my Sailor son today, so I am very Happy right now! He is learning so much about the submarines while at school and now he thinks he wants to be on a guided missile submarine when he graduates! Yikes, gotten do my research!

  • LLovesmysailor

quiltblue, you should join us over on the sub moms group. If your son wants to go subs, then you have a lot to learn. The sub service has entire language of its own.

Natalie, I always send my son money and let him buy the phone cards at the NEX. They are the experts at know what cards to give to the guys.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

m's mom, what your son does is just as important as other jobs!  It was sailors like him who transported my son from sea to shining sea.  And he always got there safely so he could come home safely to us.  So please thank him for me!

Ben always bought them on the ship.  don't really know much about them.

more rain for us tonight.  it was so refreshing doing playground duty today, a nice cool breeze and not baking!

that's a very nice to do with the pcs quilt.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

the principal of my school asked today if I could help them get a flag donated to the school.  Does anyone have any ideas on groups that might do that?

sure want to keep the kids saying that pledge!

  • LLovesmysailor

Some very very sad news.  Here is something I just read on another group on N4Ms.   Please keep this sailor and his family in your thoughts and prayers

Prayers needed for a Navy family. Wendy Putzier Reynolds, a Navy mom, her husband and their youngest son where killed on September 8th while traveling from Texas to San Diego, CA to meet the USS Reagen to greet their oldest son who was coming home from deployment. So very sad and tragic.

They were killed near Tuscon when a tractor trailor crossed the center line on I-10 and hit their car head on killing all three instantly.

  • Matt's Mom/Cathy

Sue I know in Texas that you can request a flag that has been flown over our state capital be donated to your school or if they are looking for someone to install a flag pole you may check with the Boy Scout Troops in your area because that could be an Eagle Scout Project for someone.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Lyn, that is such sad news.  I hadn't heard about it, but I rarely watch the news or tv for that matter.  I'll ask Ray about it.  Praying for the family.

Matt's mom, that's a great idea.  Thanks for the tip!  We have a great flag pole, but I might still check with them.

  • m'smom

Here at the Cemetery we get them from funeral homes but they don't last very well.  They are not an outdoor quality.

Note on the son transporting from sea to shining sea...They got to Nevada-picked up a very high ranking individual...took off and got a warning light about the landing gear.  Protocol is return to nearest air field.  So they went back to the Neveda airfield.  To make this story short-plane needs inspected by a guy who is in Oceana.  The other 2 planes in the squadron are in Newfoundland- with a broken cable and Japan!  Son wasn't sure if there was room in the barricks for the crew-there was no vehicle available to get them to town-and where ever this base is there is nothing in sight except desert!!

  • m'smom

Talking to my Marine nephew on Facebook-Love this modern Technology!!!

  • quiltblue

Also, the driver of the big-rig was killed so we may never know what caused the accident.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I agree about the modern technology.  I kept in touch with my son almost daily by email both times he was deployed.  loved it.

thanks for the tip T.  I will check on both of those sources.

I know what base you are referring to m's mom.  My son spent quite a bit of there training with the squadron.  did they get back on "road" or air road?

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I got a really cool postcard from our nurse contact in Germany yesterday!  so exciting.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

we've been having rain every night which is just great for this thirsty desert.  hope the rest of you who have had lots of rain are getting a break from it.

    have an awesome day!

  • m'smom

They finally got the plane off the ground.  Then they had to go to Kansas to pickup someone there.  He sent my hubby a text that read  'Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore'.  It is great when they can maintain a sense of humor when things aren't going well!

Prayers for the Navy family...So sad for the sailor.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Glad they got the plane off the ground and yes, it is good when they can maintain humor in the midst of crisis.

glad you got one too Natalie.  I love to get snail mail from the troops as well as emails.

    have a great day ladies!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

is it my imagination or has the font, size and general look of this website different?
  • m'smom

ME sent you some pics.  Hope they are ones you can use.

  • LLovesmysailor

Yup, Sue, It looks like they have done some kind of updates. I noticed it first in the discussion section above.
  • Maryellen

Thanks m'smom I got then and they are great. Here is a picture of my first project on the embroider. Its on the front of a gift bag I made for a body pillow that Emily made, it not pressed yet but this is a start. I have had the machine 3 days.

  • LLovesmysailor

Great Job, Maryellen. If you want some hints on lining up patterns, give me a call.

I'm planning an exciting weekend. I'm painting the guest bathroom! Ya, I lead a very dull life. But I've got to get it done before it gets too cold to be able to open the windows. It was 45 degrees last night and was only 65 for a high this afternoon. So, I'm off to prep the bathroom, so I can paint tomorrow.

  • Maryellen

Lynn Thanks, I may take you up on that but for right now I am just palying with it and learning a few things as I go along, I sent it to Janice and she was amazed at how far I have gotten in a short time. I just guess me and machines are a good match. That was just the front panel for a gift bag I made for a body pillow. I was up late lastnight working on it so I could surprise Emily with it when she got home from school today. I made her cry :( she could not believe I did that for her , I told her it was just a bunch of scraps that I put together. Well going to call it a day here soon, knee still hurting pretty bad.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    very nice ME.

I think I am getting about 500 yards of fabric donated to HAE tomorrow.  I'll share the details once it's in hand, but her son is in the military and wants to donate it.  I am going tomorrow.  I'll let you know how that turns out.

  • m'smom

Wow Sue and I thought I hit the jackpot with 5 yards of Disney print donated from a friend!!

ME hope knee starts feeling better soon.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Got it!  don't know if there's 500 yards but I think it is that and more!  had a HAE

crew member meet me there to help take it home.  she took 3 or 4 huge bins of fabric!

And I didn't even get to meet the woman who donated as she had to work longer.  I am blessed.

I was cruising craigslist Wed morning and found the ad for fabric $1.00 a yard and she had 500 yards.  I asked some HAE crew in that part of town to call to check it out as it was my really long day with short break at school.  One lady called, told me where it basically was.

I called the woman on Friday night and I said "I just want to make sure that I understand this correctly, you want to donate this fabric to HAE?"  Yes, she said, I think it's wonderful what you do for our troops.  My son and DIL are in the army.  etc.

So I am blessed!  We'll empty the car tomorrow.  What I saw was all cotton or cotton/poly blend.

  • Matt's Mom/Cathy

Wow Sue!  That was so generous of the lady to donate the fabric for pcs.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

yes it is.  Ray started to haul it in this afternoon.  He started with the big cardboard boxes and organized it somewhat by color into AVON boxes.  those do come in handy-haha.

From what I have seen, it is gorgeous fabric.  higher price quilting fabric.  I would love to look at each print, but just don't have time right now.  We still have 5 or 6 bins/boxes in the car.  There is some that won't work for pcs, but not much so far.

    What a huge blessing!

  • D~W~G

  • Dawn L.

    Hi Sue!
What a blessing about all the fabric!!! My Dad is doing good. He is progressing like he should. Waiting t hear about some test results tomorrow. Hopefully all good!
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

yes it is a blessing.   we finally got all that we had in the car into the house.  the little bit I've seen is good quality fabric.  some isn't pc suitable, but not much.

so glad to hear that your dad is doing good Dawn!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

this week is the 3rd wave mailing for the Marines!
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

that quilt contest sure looks interesting DWG, but I don't quilt.  Let us know if anyone enters.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

check out the thank you note in the Bush thread.  See if you recognize the pillowcase descriptions.

    have a great day ladies.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Dori or Maryellen, can you post the other 3 thank you notes that came?  Thanks!

It's my 10 hour day at school today.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    hello all and good night.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Hope you are all well.  I got some more fabric donated today from a woman who saw my ad on craigslist!  oh my!

    New numbers tomorrow.
