Sue, I put the quote marks around the sell because I know you don't sell it but the money pays for the shipping.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

okay, I just didn't want people to think that I was selling their fabric that they've donated.  I have discovered that many people view this site.  Just being cautious.

  • Jodi-alumni Ship 4

Sorry, didn't want to cause confusion.

  • proudmama

Thanks Jodi- I wouldn't have known that I could get cloth from sue so thanks for letting me know that! Also, thanks for lettinge know about the sale at Joann's - I will take a look at what they have!
Sue and Maryellen- I sent my email to sue- do you need it as well Maryellen?
I'm missingy son, so this will helpe deal with his absence... He is just at bc.... But it was hard to see him go!
  • mrsb

Hello proudmama!!  Welcome to heads at ease!!!  You'll find that you will  get addicted to making pillowcases!!!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

it was hard to see my son go but exciting as well.  you are on an exciting ride now.

My son is a veteran after serving 5 years and quite honestly, there were times I wasn't sure that I/we would survive.  Especially during deployment, when you feel so helpless if there is a problem

Doing something for others is always a wave to make the time pass and in some respects, makes you feel closer to them

Jodi, no worries.  I just didn't want anyone outside of the HAE family to get the wrong impression.

The Lord has blessed HAE tremendously-I give Him all of the honor and glory for this project and what He has been able accomplish thru me, a Navy mom who just wanted to make a few pillowcases.  I am humbled and awed by His grace, mercy and providence.

The fabric is a gift to HAE and therefore a gift to my crew.  When I got the 1st huge donation in the fall of 2011, I was quite overwhelmed by it.  And wasn't exactly sure about what to do with it.  I knew that mailing around the country would cost more than I could afford.

I mentioned the donation the Maryellen and she said "I'll send you $ for a box of fabric" and I was so surprised and blessed.  And thus, my fabric mailing begin.

And that's the rest of that story.

  • mrsb

Sue, I'm glad you got to spend some time with your son!

  • Maryellen

    Proudmama,
Sue will send it to me if need be, not a problem.

  • LLovesmysailor

Alex is now off studying at Penn State. I had him home for over a year, when he left the Navy. Now that he is out at State College, I miss him. Hopefully he'll come home to visit once in a while.

    Lyn

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Lyn,  he will!  they miss mom's cooking and there is the laundry issue too.  haha

my son went 2.5 hours away and he managed to come home almost every weekend unless went there or another college for baseball games.

I get to see my son about 1 time per week now.  Between his work schedule and mine, that's about all that we can manage.  After spending 5 years of 1 time per year, I am delighted by 1 time per week.

    NEW numbers!

  • NitaSewBee

Hi everyone, I am back. life has been busy, between hubby finally getting  medical care at the VA... He has been without medical insurance since Jan.  So  now he can get the care he needs for  diabetes, and a host of  other health issues Seabee/recruiter son has a little girl now. Their  baby was  born in Feb.Youngest son is going back to school. He took a year  off from high school  to figure out his life, and  decide what he needed to do to make things work for him. We also have one  of his friends staying here until he gets on his feet. He's been staying in shelters, and  with other  people since his mother kicked him out last  December.  We don't have much, but I will have no one living on the streets if I can help it. So we do what we can to help him. As for me, not doing too bad. wrist and back acts up when  the weather is bad. and hearing  is still bad. But SSDI helps, and we are able to pay our mortgage so that's a plus. Trying to do some sewing but can only sew for awhile then I have to get up and walk around. Then I see something that needs doing, and sewing sits still until I get a chance to doing it again. The cycle continues. Well I hope to  get on more often. Didn't want you to think I fell off the face of the earth. I am posting a picture of me and Amelia, and of my grandsons. I hope you like them

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Hi NitaSewBee, good to hear from you again.  Great photos of the grandbabies!

I sure  understand that "get distracted" cycyle-I do the same thing.  I do what I can when I can.

Ray and Sue are happy to announce the marriage of their son Ben to Danielle

The wedding took place at 5 pm on Tuesday, 9-17-13, in a simple ceremony at the courthouse.  The
reception was wonderful and we are enjoying getting to know Danielle's family!
We love Danielle and think she is a great choice for Ben.
And yes, there is a baby on the way also.
I have attached 2 photos of the 4 of us.  1 is outside and the other is at the reception.

Have a prayer request for an AF man who HAE has sent pcs to.  He was 18 days away from returning stateside when his helo was in an accident.  He has been badly injured and is back in the states for surgery and rehab.

He and I wrote back and forth a bit while I was getting the pcs sent.  Very nice man with 3 little children.  I would like to do a card blitz for him.  If you are interested in mailing him a card of encouragement, contact me.

Thanks.  And please pray for them.

  • Maryellen

Well my daughter found out today that her car was going to need a new engine and it was not worth putting one in. So Charles Baker Nissan worked there magic and got my Daughter into a 2013 Nissan Sentra for a song. I would recommend this dealership to anyone in Norfolk Virginia who wants a good deal on a car. Almost everyone that works there are Vets. She did this all on her own and I am proud of her, so mom has to share it with everyone here.

  • Maryellen

Now I can send her to Italy next year and not worry her car is going to breakdown on her.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    nice looking car and sailor!

  • Maryellen

Wow the numbers and notes are AWESOME, I know we all have worked hard to get that number and I am very proud to know and work with each and everyone of you. God Bless You All.

I do have a prayer request, most of you don't know that my husband is up for what his company calls a volentary early retirement. What they offered him is not even a year and a halfs worth of his current salary. We are not sure what we are going to do or if we are going to take it but the writting is on the wall. If he don't take it  then 2-3 weeks before Christmas he could be laid off. He has a job interview this Friday for the same type of work. Please keep us in your prayers that  this interview is what we need and that the money is enough for us to live on. Right now I am unable to work due to osteoarthrits, I have been fighting this for the past 5 years and Sue can tell you its been tough. Please we are asking for prayers, God has gotten us this far and I have Faith he will keep us going.

    God Bless You all

    Maryellen
