just go this from Diane B who sews alot for HAE:

Our daughter, Kari is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday.  However, the nurse called her last nightt and told her that if they didn't hear from the Insurance Co. by today that they would have to postpone the surgery.  Kari has rapidly growing uterine fibroids that her Doctor would have taken out a month ago if he could.  It seems that we need a miracle to get the insurance to come through today.  Kari is just 30 years old, and having to have a hysterectomy.  She is terrified, and prolonging the inevitable only makes her more terrified.   We would really appreciate your prayers tonight and for the next few days.  If the surgery goes as planned, she will have about 6 weeks of staying at home, without work.

    God Bless!
    Diane

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Happy Thanksgiving!  this is from a couple of years ago!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I made these at school with my Kinder class and my afternoon class.  I made one, which I forgot to bring home-my tail feathers are red, white and blue because Thanksgiving is an American holiday.

They are made with baby food jars.  The instructions say to put water and glitter inside and I thought "NO WAY".  That's a mess waiting to happen.

So we painted glue inside the jar, put glitter inside and gave it a few shakes!  Turned out great.

  • Maryellen

Sue I Love the Turkey jars they came out great. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

thanks Maryellen.  Next week, I'll take a photo of the one that I made.

Happy New Year!  boy, the year is flying by already!  I just don't know where the time goes.   I woke up to this on Jan 1 in sunny southern AZ:

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

2014 ended with the posted numbers!  Awesome job crew!

I have started a thread for 2015, as we are  mailing on Monday.  This ship is filled.  On Jan 19th, we will begin the waves for the USS Comstock.

If you have pcs made, please let me know.  As always, we can use fabric if you want to clean out your stash a bit.

    Thanks!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I moved the Comstock up to start this week, on 1-12.  If you have some pcs made to send let me know.  Thanks!

  • LLovesmysailor

    Sue,

I won't be ready to mail to the Comstock, but I will be ready to send some pcs to the next ship and the USS New York. I did the command pcs for the New York for her commissioning and I don't want to miss this go round.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    Hi Lyn,

That's just fine!  Thanks so much.  It was the NY and your making the command, that started the whole pc for the command.  I think the NY will be late March.  Depends how many waves it takes to get the Comstock and Iwo Jima done.

    Thanks!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I have added new numbers.  I am mailing out 33 today to the Michael Murphy, so that ship is done.

Wave 1 for the USS Comstock begins today.  If you have pcs made and can mail, let me know.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I brought the pillowcase instructions up to the top.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Hello!  boy, time flies when you are having fun!  haha

I had a work training today and that was fun.   I posted some new numbers from the Comstock wave 1.  Wave 2 began today for the Comstock and then that ship will be finished.

Feb brings us another ship. Will post more on that later.

For those in the northern part of the country, hunker down and stay warm!  I hear there is much snow.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I posted new numbers.  I am constantly awed by what the HAE crew does for our deployed military!

We miss those who have not been involved for awhile. Here is some inspiration for us to do more.  This sailor is said goodbye to his 6 month old today as he is leaving on a deployment for a long time:

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

We begin wave 1 for the USS Iwo Jima today.

Tucson is having spring like weather right now.  I imagine that winter will hit again before it is all done.

  • LLovesmysailor

If you are missing your winter, Sue, Pittsburgh has it. I would like nothing better than to send it back to you. Temps here are expected to get down to the low teens by the end of the week.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Oh, I don't miss it at all!  I do like snow BUT only when I want to be in it.  Which is about every 10 years!

    Spoiled!!!!  haha  I admit it,.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Wave 1 for the Iwo Jima is done.  I updated the numbers.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

I love Friday the 13th!  My hubby and I were married 34 years ago today.  I don't believe in luck, good or bad, but in God's grace and mercy!

  • Dana (David's Mom)

Congratulations on 34 years, it's soon to be 31 for me. Blessings to you both.
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    thanks Dana!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

    Hi Eagle,

I got your message and thanks for  making some pillowcases!

The pillowcase inserts/labels are to be put inside each pillowcase so the person receiving knows who made it.

Once you are ready to mail, let me know,  I email out the address to the ones who are mailing in that wave.  I am going to friend you.

    Thanks!

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Sue,I won’t be able to ship for awhile.  Since Mon. the 23rd, I have been in the hospital.  I suffered 3 mini-strokes.  But I serve an  amazoing  God, and He watches over me.  And my very favorite quote “My faith, my family, my friends”. Didsn’t have to do rehab, or physical therapy – Once they gave me all the equipment and showed me how to use it, I was outa there!!   I am home, and we having a snowstorm BIG TIME!  But I don’t have to worry.  I have a nice cozy home – with a sunshiny yellow room to do house all my stash of fabric and a neighborhood that will .keep me fed.  Gotta go- there were 96 messages on my answering machine when I got home and I am having  fun listening  reading and listening.  Will let you know when I am ready!!
