Hi, thanks for the information and I will email you in alittle while.
I get donations that I hold for shipping. I do require it to be for 30 or more in a box. If you use a game box, I can get 35 easily and Maryellen can get more.
It really depends on how they are made. The ones with flanges/accent pieces take more space, but I have a creative way to pack those,
Any of you the No. CA area. This is an event I host each year to make pillowcases for donation. We have a great time getting together to work on this project. Please e-mail me at: milcopmom@comcast.net for questions. Jody

Paymaster, what an awesome thing you and your group is doing!!! I wish I could help, I live in the east bay area and used to live in Citrus Heights, well Foothill Farms, but have a Blue Star Moms event that day. Perhaps next year I can make it!!
Hi, may I please stay with this group? Even though my Sailor is now home. Little over a year he came home with Honorable Medical Discharge because of a head injury while deployed. Then I had major back surgery. Am recovery well. Hoping to get back to sewing pillowcases after the first of 2017.
Thank you Suzette
HI Sue, I know I have not been seeing for awhile but I would love to start seeing again. Our sons ship is getting ready to deploy soon and I know I will need something to do to help keep my mind from going crazy.
Oh my!!! Over a month has gone by again. I just don't know where this year is going already.
Anyway, I just posted some new numbers. We finished up an AF unit today. More groups in the wings. As always, if you have pillowcases finished please let me know.
WOW!!!! I am behind on news. Our current numbers are: ytd = 2,520 and ptd = 75,261 Since my last post in March, we have mailed to an OH National Guard unit, the USS Porter (a ship that was shot at by the Russians), the USS Wayne E Meyer and an AF unit. We are currently waiting on confirmation from a Seabee unit. If you have pillowcases made, please let me know.

Among the many military holidays celebrated each year is Armed Forces Day. Celebrated the third Saturday in May, Armed Forces Day falls during Military Appreciation Month and joins Memorial Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, and Victory in Europe Day (V-E Day) as another May military-themed holiday.
The History of Armed Forces Day
On Aug. 31, 1949, Defense Secretary Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy and Air Force Days. The single-day celebration stemmed from the unification of the armed forces under one agency -- the Department of Defense.
In a speech announcing the creation of the day, President Truman "praised the work of the military services at home and across the seas." He said, "It is vital to the security of the nation and to the establishment of a desirable peace."
In an excerpt from the Presidential Proclamation of Feb. 27, 1950, Truman stated:
"Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 20, 1950, marks the first combined demonstration by America's defense team of its progress, under the National Security Act, toward the goal of readiness for any eventuality. It is the first parade of preparedness by the unified forces of our land, sea, and air defense."
Today we remember those who have served our country and have gone before us!!!! I remember my grandfathers who fought in WW1, my dad in WW2 and my hubby's cousin who died in Viet Name.
We have been to the Wall in DC and his name is on this.
Well, again I say, where does the time go? My apologies for being so tardy. A quick update: We are currently mailing to the USS Iwo Jima. We have mailed 4 waves so far, for a total of 1,947 pcs. We need at least 700 more, so if you have some made, please let me know. Wave 5 begins tomorrow. One of the HAE crew has a son serving abroad this ship so that is a fun connection!! Here are a few pcs that have been sent so far:
Heads at Ease hit a milestone on 4-27-18 when we passed the 80,000 mark in less than 10 years! The actual number was 80,412 with the last wave to the USS Iwo Jima! Great job CREW!!!
And to celebrate, here is a great thank you note and 1 of the reasons I still do this even though my sailor left the navy in 2011:
Good day to you fantastic Americans!!
I just wanted to reach out and express my gratitude for the cowboy boot pillowcase I received from my friend Hector who got them from your organization. You are some great people and we really appreciate what you do!!
I actually just got a new pillow and was ready to put a t-shirt over it when I saw the pillowcase on my bed.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Char, Anny, and Kathy!!

Those 3 gals are local sewers and Kathy is a grandma to a marine. She was very happy to get that note.; It is in the top row, middle with a teal cuff and red flange:
Hi Everyone. I am back. and I missed you all. I have so many memories. of making pillowcases. I remember 2010 when I helped make pillowcases for the Abe Lincoln Christmas project for the USSS Abraham Lincoln. Sue, how have you been. So your son is out now, glad to hear you are still at it just the same.I was in the group when you lost your baby grandson.. Does he have any siblings? Looking forward to reconnecting with everyone.
WOW. shame on me! It has been over a year since I posted on here. I have been using the FB page more often. That said,
Heads at Ease has committed to sending pillowcases for every person on the USS Abraham Lincoln since their deployment has been extended for several months. If you would like to help with this, please let me know. Thanks!
It is a confirmed GO with the USS Abraham Lincoln. We are mailing pillowcases to the entire ship. We will be over 2,000 sent in 3 weeks by next Wednesday.
If you would like to help with this project please send me a pm.
Thanks! Here are some photos of pcs that we sent already.
Is there a specific pattern that is used? I have a group at church that sometimes likes to take on sewing projects and this sounds like it could be beneficial to all parties involved.
I sure don't know where the time goes in my life, but I can say that November and December were 2 busy and intense months for me.
We adopted the Lincoln and mailed pillowcases every week for 8 weeks. The HAE crew is absolutely amazing as we accomplished the goal of 4800 in that time frame. There was another group who helped with 295 but the HAE crew did the rest.
Baker1013 please send me a message with your email address and I will send you some patterns. We would love your help!
13 years ago my son was deployed on the USS Abraham Lincoln and I sent the muffins that arrived moldy! In June of 2008 I made 4 patriotic pillowcases to replace the "birthday" muffins and told the guys in his cube to celebrate their birthdays with the country's.
On November 27,2020, we hit the milestone of 100,000 made and sent to our deployed military!
Thanks B'sNukeMoM/! It was not a goal that I was working towards when I started this in 2008!
But in late 2019 when we mailed over 4600 to the Lincoln in 8 weeks, it pushed up fast really fast. So in 2020, that 100,000 mark kind became important to me! And 1 of 5 sewers hit it on that date. I go by when they tell me they mailed.

Hello and HAPPY New Year!!! 2017- can you believe it???
I still am puzzling over where 2016 went. I just posted the final numbers for 2016.
And now we start anew in 2017. I have some groups for the end of the month. If your loved one or you know someone deployed, please let me know.
We took a nice break after working hard on those 3 ships, we mailed to 13 K9 units in December and then broke for Christmas.
AND it's time to get back to the job of bringing comfort from home to our deployed troops.
