Has anyone heard of the GoPro waterproof HD camera? Hubby says that he hasn't heard. It sounds awesome but don't want to get a junker....it goes to 180' deep? Would like other opinions please.

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in here about the waterproof cameras. I had found the GoPros and thought they looked great however my son does not have a regular camera and the waterproof cameras do not zoom so this wouldn't be as good for non water pictures and it has a higher mp.... so we have done a lot of looking and we decided to go with the Canon Powershot SD 1300 for 109.00..I have the SD1100 and LOVE IT!!! Plus we can get the waterproof case that goes to 130' for 173.00 Just thought I would let you that are thinking of going this route that there is another option.

Okay.. I am feeling a little alone out here... Where is everyone? I had a txt from my son Wednesday night and he said: "Cold and Rainy" "Good day though". We had a good conversation Tueday night. I didn't realize how stressful this phase of training is to them. My prayers are going up for all the guys to have calm minds, clear thinking and calm nerves during every activity. Let's keep the prayers going up Moms and others!

I am planning on booking my trip within the next couple of weeks. We want to go for the whole week and make a vacation out of it. Man are places expensive there. I think we want to stay near Mission Beach so my daughter and her boyfriend will be close to all the major attractions. Any advice from any of you would be appreciated. I have already looked through VRBO and a ton of other vacation rental places...think I found a place but is pricey.....for us.
Hope to see more on here soon. Guess when all is good and quiet with them all is quiet here.
we are looking to rent for the week through vrbo.com. We are also planning on a week trip and figured a house or condo is cheaper than so many rooms for the week. Had nice long chat last night and he sounded upbeat but tired. We need to strart chattomg together more and praying together!

My husband wants a hotel and I want a house which is another reason we are waiting, can't agree. We are booking with points so we are going ahead with that since we have flexibility on switching. I think I talked to the same retired military man, And he was accomadating. However, my son rode by the house and said I wouldnt feel like i was on a vacation there and would need a car and couldnt walk to any restaurants etc. (please forgive spelling, typing on small comp) so we aew still looking. How many rollbacks have there been? Guess it has been a while since I read back and don't remember. I hate to hear that....guess things can happen up to the last minute.
I heard 6/10 from our son, but also many cautions against making plans too early... 5 guys were rolled this last training session and 2 8 3 has a way to go yet. But, as parents of these young men, we're used to living life on the edge, right? Keep the prayers going!!
IIf it helps any, I was asked by my son to wait until Niland was over. Some made plans right before that after the cqc block. We had 7 rolled during cqc, but none rolled in Niland. Next is Skydiving...then SERE
We found that Southwest is a great airline to use because they are the only airline that doesn't charge for "change of flight fee" and allows 2 bags per person at no charge. If you have to change plans, you only have to pay the difference of the flight, which ALL the airlines charge. Just a thought!
Talked to my son. He had a good week.....so far so good. I feel terrible for those that have been rolled. No one is out of the woods yet. I pray for them all!!!

Thanks... and if you are flying a sibling out, Southwest has student fares that generally run cheaper! Anticipation sums it up correctly! Can't wait to meet everyone....
I am going to watch for specials, hotel and air, and only book with specials that have no cancellation penalty or change fee.... I know someone who was injured 3 weeks before graduation so I am booking with the understanding that plans can change. I just want to get a decent hotel rate.

Talked to Sailor last night and his roomy is still there he said there is about 49 left.
Sure hope that weather is nice to them so they can all be home for Christmas!!!

Thanks for your help I found my answer. First from a mom in 282 that asked a mom in 281! I love this site!
