I know this is a gigantic pic... at least you can get a good look! lol! I made this shirt for myself and when CherylB brought up the idea of lapel pins, it occurred to me that perhaps some of you Moms might like a shirt like this too! I have Navy Blue (naturally!) or white in sizes S-XXXL Women's (I used to sew for a bunch of nuns!) If you would like one, PM me with your info. I can leave off the class number or the "Navy Mom" part if you prefer. Sorry, I don't have any men's shirts. All shirts are polo style, brand new, been preshrunk and are a pique knit.....$22 + $3 shipping.
On a less mercenary note, our hearts and prayers are joined with y'all in the mid-west and the East Coast as you endure these crazy storms. And, of course, for our warriors out west! May the Lord bless and keep us all!
HI all. I have gotten 10 orders for pins. We are at a total of 115 pins. I can only order in groups of 100 or 200 so we need to get some more orders. Please spread the word to any of those to talk to in this group. THANKS!!!
An iguana??? Now there's a warm, fuzzy pet for you! In fact, perhaps he's thinking of sending it home with YOU, mom.... (to remember him by! Now that I think about it, they aren't as dissimilar as they at first might seem!) At least it's not a spider or some enormous, venomous snake!
I myself am not a fan of the reptile family or the rodent family. I hate snakes. People wonder how I live in the country......easy I don't go near the mice or snakes until they are dead!! LOL
My friends had some Iguanas. Built a HUGE HUGE room for them. To each their own. Guess they have to have someone love them too!
H2O sugar gliders huh? Did you like those? Another thing that kinda creeped me. LOL The same family that had the Iguana had those....They were cute but the stuff they used in their cages always smelled funny. Up all night and slept during the day!!! Oh man ....I think I am just a sm dog person...and really they don't fit into my life style now that the kids are gone and I am always on the go....my mom lives with us so we still have a Yorkie....they don't shed. Man I never realized all this about me!! hahahaha
Ok I am going to have to close out the pin order in the next day. I have only received 3 checks so far. I can not place the order until I have all the checks. It takes them 2 weeks to get them to me and then I have to mail them to you asap so you can have them before you leave. Thanks!!!
OH NO WE CAN STILL ORDER!!! I will get the order in soon!!! I promise!! I just need the checks soon!!! It will work out just fine!! I am a positive person and I know that all will be good!!! HEY if our guys can do what they do I can order some dang pins!! hahahahaha
Hey I am all game for dying our hair though!! Always up for some fun like that!! LOL
I have to have at least 100 so if I don't get enough checks for whatever is above that I will at least get those.....for those of you just mailing checks please let me know so I can be looking for them and make sure I order yours! THANKS!!!
Today is the last day to order pins and I need the money asap. I know 2 of you are getting them in the mail today or just mailed them. I still need 4 more checks after those. THANKS!!!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY all you courageous Navy Moms! I'll be interested to meet the parents of this special breed of men....I know that my son has been pushing the limit since the day he was born....and I'll bet you're all nodding your heads in agreement right now!...haha
Hi all. I have received every ones checks but Jettaryns. I sent her a friend request on the 26th so she could have my address but she has not accepted. If any of you know her could you please let her know. Thanks!
I'm so excited for all of you! I remember the last month like it was yesterday. I took advice from one of the moms from 281 and put my invitations, the corsage to identify us (i believe you have a pin), plane and hotel tics, cameras etc. in my bag before packing...just to make sure I didn't forget that stuff! I also downloaded all the places people suggested we go to, along with any additional info given by previous moms, and put that in my suitcase. When it was time to pack my clothes, I didn't have to worry about all those little important items!! Just an FYI :)
I was surprised that we were allowed to take still pictures and videos of the entire ceremony. I had one of my sons take the video so that I could enjoy watching the event. It is not a long ceremony. The guys sit in the 1st 3 rows. The families sit directly behind them (so you see their backs during the ceremony). You have to go up to the front, but from the right front corner, in order to get a good picture of them receiving their pins and saluting the officers. Before and after the ceremony, you can take family pics or pics with them and their buddies. There's a room inside the building (adjacent to where you sit outside) that shows a continuous video of their class in different stages of training. They don't announce it, so you just have to go in the building after you get your seat.
Most families spent the Friday with their son. Saturday was the party the guys throw for the families. That was from 6pm till late. We had so much fun meeting many of the Navy families. On down time, some went to Point Loma (must get there before 5pm) for gorgeous views and to see the cemetary of servicemen etc. Many walked through Coronado where there are tons of places to eat,,Coronado Brewing Co, MC P's (which has a live band inside and a great BBQ pit outside, etc. Bullshirts is the place to go to for your son's class shirt for HW and other para.. On base...try to walk on the beach and view the O course right after the ceremony
Some families went to Sea World or the SD zoo. My other children are HS and college, so we passed on that! LOL .You can go to the beach. My kids went to Pacific Beach and Imperial Beach for the day. Oh...and some people did a tandem jump with their sons, but i didn't know anything about it until it was too late. Ask your sons about it. I believe, with a discount, it cost 180/person.
I guess, the most important thing was to spend time with my oldest son. We have wonderful memories that we wwill never forget.
go-navy4 thanks for all the info. Do all the classes give the parents a party on Sat. night? We have plane tickets to come home on Sat. What a bummer. If I knew for sure I might be able to change it.
Cheryl B...I'm not sure about which night the party would be on. Any one of the guys in 283 would know becausse they all have to chip in for it.
Ophelia..I would walk to the base if the weather is nice. It's about a 10 min walk, I would suggest, whether you walk or drive to the event, definitely wear comfortable shoes because you'll be walking around alot
Ken, I'm glad she likes the shirt!! Would anyone else like one? I need a little lead time to sew it! (I have 3 made up in "L"; 2 blue, one white) Hooyah 2 8 3 !!!
Making lots of plans for our week in California! I have heard from several that it is a "tradition" for son and parent to skydive together. I had been asked to sky jump but then my son said they were told not to jump... Apparently a sailor broke an ankle after graduation last month.....or maybe my son just decided not to???? Anyway, glad I got out of that one because it isn't my choice of fun things to do!
Hi 2 8 3 !! I've been "lurking" because you all are getting so close. Thought I'd share that my son did SERE for his Aircrew training and made it just fine. He said the "training" is the same for everyone no matter what their heading to.
All my best to all of you and your brave young men.
2 weeks and 1 day I will be seeing my son! Gee wonder if I will talk to him before then! He usually doesn't go this long without calling. I was with his fiance the other day and they were texting and he said to tell me he loved me....I will take what I can get! LOL
I haven't been on in a few days and love seeing all the chatter! It's hard to believe my son is already finished with 3 weeks of lang. Don't worry about Sere. No one is rolled during Sere. Your guys have MADE IT!!! Just begin packing your suitcases and planning your trip. Hooyah 283!!!
Thanks for the reminder Ophelia! I sent out the email to several peeps but don't know if any of them donated. I still haven't heard from my son if he is involved or what. Haven't heard from him in a while....the little fart!!!
I did txt with D last night. I asked him if he raised money....really really not his thing!!! Never was...he always hated the school fundraisers! So unless anyone I sent the info to donated then I was the only one! To tell you the truth some of my friends from school that I sent it to might not even remember his name!! LOL
CherylB
I will post this up top also but wanted to post it here just once.....
The envelopes are $1.09 a pc and approx $2.00 to mail them. So please include an extra 3
$3.09 per order... NOT per pin just per order.
