Informed delivery is an app that lets you know what mail is coming to your home. It is great to use if your expecting a letter or a package and you want to know if it’s been shipped or when you will get it. I’m so excited im getting another letter from Freddie either today or tomorrow. God is good.
  • Missingyou

I wrote to the two sailors for October today and will write again next weekend.

Welcome Navy Mom 3051. Glad you found us. What is your sailor doing on this journey? Let us know a little about yourself. You can also follow us on facebook .
  • Missingyou

Good morning moms I hope you’re having a great week. As the time passes my anxiety gets a little less. Just knowing my son has made it this far is a blessing to me. In his letters he says I got this and it makes me sleep so much better. Only a few more weeks to go. What a great time for our sailors to graduate we should be truly grateful God has let them go this far. Thanksgiving is truly a time to be grateful for what God has given us and a time to share with our families. So Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families. Have safe travels to and from your destinations this holiday season. God bless you all.

Marcey, For some reason your name will not pop up so I am unable to send you a personal welcome message.

We are very glad you joined us! Pat

This is why we do what we do...

    Laura,

I am a SeaBee serving overseas. My group received a care package that you organized with Cub Scout pack 28. Thank you very much for thinking about us. We are very grateful and will put everything to use.

    Regards,

    PO1 R.D.

Makes me smile and warms the heart!

  • Pat L. in IL

  • Lynda

You will need to know which area he is assigned to to complete the address.

You could also reach out to the ombudsman @ cvn71ombudsman@gmail.com

  • Pat L. in IL

    Sure!

    USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71)

    Unit 100250

    FPO AP  96632

You just won't have his Box #.

  • Pat L. in IL

BTW, that address will work as long as he is regular enlisted.

  • carols_kitchen

I've been away from Illinois for less than 3 years. We moved to a small town NE of Jacksonville, FL. Little did I expect we would be talking about wind chills, cold weather shelters, and temps dropping to actual 24*  Freezing rain will not only be dangerous on the roads, but awful for our newly planted landscape at the new house we are are moving to on Friday. I feel for those of you up North.

  • HFPPOmom

Hi there, my company is wanting to adopt a small ship. Where can I go to find all the in's and out's of adopting and shipping. Guidelines for packing etc.

  • carols_kitchen

HIFPO Mom, I’ll let Pat L see if she has a smaller group that has reached out to her. Otherwise, we do an adoption every month and January 2018 is up at the top on discussions. We usual mail out the 3rd week of each month. So happy to have you with us. Carol

  • Pat L. in IL

Remember your Valentines in the January 2018 adoption!

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

Packing party Sunday in the Rio Grande Valley!  My friend and neighbor is a retired Navy Chief. Three other Winter Texans gave her fabric and she made 17 pillowcases.  I'm on the hunt for a Girl Scout tomorrow morning to come to the party and sell cookies on Sunday.

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

I finally connected with someone who is getting us a Girl Scout with cookies to come to the packing party.  She'll sell cookies for us to buy and include in the boxes.

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

18 boxes, 28 pillowcases!  We had lots of toiletries, snacks, candy, plus the Girl Scouts came and sold cookies during the packing party.

  • Pat L. in IL

    WooHoo! Yippeeeee!! Thank you everyone!

  • tysmom

    Hi Pat,

I am on my way to the post office to mail 117 cards for the soldiers to send home to loved ones. Sending them some ink pens also.

    Blessings,

    gb

  • Pat L. in IL

tysmom, Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

Has anyone had a package returned from the February adoption?  One of my friends got one back.

  • carols_kitchen

Ruth, I mailed late, I also have packages "redirected" to the chaplain.  Will keep an ear open. Carol

  • Phoenixmom

Hi Pat, I was needing your help, I received an address from my son and was wanting to know if you can get with me to help me on how to ship it and if what I have is correct. Thank You!

  • Phoenixmom

Do the boxes have to be APO/FPO to ship to a carrier? or can it be a priority mail box?

  • carols_kitchen

So long as it’s the regular large size .  If you go up a size, it will be very expensive. It does not have to say Military on the box

  • carols_kitchen

Oh, Phoenix Mom, if Pat can’t reach you, let me know if I can help. I can’t remember when she was going to be with family.  Carol

  • Pat L. in IL

Phoenix Mom, You can also use the large priority boxes as long as they are the 12x12x5.5"!

  • Phoenixmom

Hi Carols_kitchen I wasnt sure if I can send his stuff just regular priority mail or does it have to be APO/FPO since he out to sea?

  • Phoenixmom

ok ladies thank you so much just wanted to be sure it was ok, because I do have the big boxes of priority mail boxes and didnt want to have no problems and the post office will just take and not let me know. thank you again.

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

So far, the sender of the returned package says the only thing she can think of that would be prohibited is the coffee, but that doesn't make sense.  I'm going to ask her what else is in the package to see if we can figure it out.

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

    Mystery solved!  Aerosol shaving cream!

  • tysmom

120 cards for the sailors to send to loved ones on their way. I could fit 3 small pkgs of jelly bellies and a pkg of ink pens.We included Mothers Day cards.

I am sure glad I have a friend to help me. Question: Do we ever know if the boxes arrive and when they arrive?

  • Pat L. in IL

tysmom, Sometimes we receive a thank you email and I always pass it along!

  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

Thanks Carol for the warm welcome. My son left for BC on 6/26 and while waiting for his “I’m here phone call” I found this site. So glad to find this page, for this nervous but proud momma.

  • Phoenixmom

Hi Ladies, I have a question. My Son is in SD Coronado Island. I've been wanting to ship frozen home cook meals frozen of course but don't know how to pack, and what would I say when shipping? Any help or advice would help me out immensley. Thank you,
  • carols_kitchen

Hi PhoenixMom, welcome to our page. Frozen meals, while a delightful idea, can not be shipped to where your sailor is working. Mail rooms are difficult to get to, and boxes may sit for days before they can get them. Due to your son’s busy schedule, and the hours the mailroom is open, even if he rented a mail box off site, it would be ruined.

Pour son, on a different base, would sometimes be on duty for days at a time.

You will need to wait until one of you gets to visit the other.

Now, I’m curious to know what your special food would be. Nothing like a home cooked meal! When we would fly in to see our son at his rental home, we learned to stop at the grocery store on the way from the airport, and load up on basics. As soon as we called and told him we were an hour from his place, he and his room mates must have put out calls to come over and eat!

    Carol
