This to connect all of the family members who have a loved one with a PIR on May 21, 2010. Hopefully we will be able to share stories and information to help all who are in "the same boat." =)
Thanks, Traci. Now at least we know for sure when BS is. Rob got EM too. I wonder which recruits got the only two ET slots. Does anyone know exactly what Test #3 is? Thanks.
Traci, I'm sorry. I hope Perry is feeling better soon. It seems this division has been plagued with illnesses from the start. Just think though, how well they're doing despite the illnesses. In fact, none of the recruits have been booted out of this division as of last week... amazing in itself.
Traci, so sorry he is sick, I'll keep him in my prayers so he gets better quickly. Savannah said in her letter the next phone call will be Tuesday, so I guess that's after BS. And I have almost back to back meetings that day!
ksunagel, she is staying at Great Lakes for A School.
my3sons, we could do straight pins or we could use double sided tape and attach them to the back of the buttons.
Test 3 is their final comprehensive test on the information they've been learning. So hopefully they're all studying very hard! Our nuke boys will sail through though with those big brains of theirs!
Thanks momof5, I hope he feels better too. I just don't want it to affect his productivity. He's so close to finishing!
Rob's an EM too so it looks like they will get to know each other! That's good that they'll have somebody they've been through it all with, even if they don't end up the best of friends. I feel like that bond is key for all of them to make it through all of this.
The mail man just came :) Got a two sided letter. He wrote about how they were finishing up fire fighting and Battlestations coming on Wed. (Today) Coming up are marching , drill and physical fitness assessment and final written test. He liked the hands on fire fighting training and said they had the Gas Chamber...but no complaints. He feels ready to start A school. Overall sounds up beat and never mentioned the grueling IT they got on May 1. He asked if Istill visit Navy for Moms:) oh Yeah! Just hearing from everyone on the site does my heart good :) So grateful for the support and shared info.
My letter came today also! Instead of calling it the gas chambers, he called it the "confidence chambers" haha good to know he still has a sense of humor.. He is no longer counting down the days. He is counting down the hours! For BattleStations (which was last yesterday into today) he said they would be up for 36 hours straight... So I expect to be talking to one very tired Sailor. He did really well on his last PFA. He said he did the mile and a half in 10:35, 95 push-ups and 121 sit-ups which was the most in his division! I am so proud of him! One final request he had was that I bring him his Ipod. He really misses him music... =)
I'm anxiously awaiting the "I'm a Sailor" phone call now... It should be coming anytime now! I have my phone cranked all the way up so I won't miss it! Ahhhh
Oh, I'm floating on cloud 9! Kaitlynn, He's calling you right now - he didn't want me to call and tell you or your phone would be tied up.
He said they have been awake forever and he sounded exhausted. They have to stay awake until 10 pm. He has what sounds like a terrible cold, but he said it is just the sniffles (NOT!). He said Battlestations were awesome and they did great. He also said that his is the best division in the ship by far! Ship 14, Division 190. Said they won all their flags and pennants and the WERE in the Hall of Fame until they messed up (whatever that means). He is a section leader also. He said that he can't talk about the details of Battlestations or the rest, but that it was awesome. Ummm, I can't remember the rest - he just sounded GREAT and I am SO happy!!!!!
I got my call RIGHT after i posted on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE'S A SAILOR!!!!!!! I got 40 min on the phone with him and it was pure bliss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Woo Hoo! I have goose bumps and my eyes are watering. I'm so proud of My son the "SAILOR". He sounds a little tired but great. Drinking his first caffinated drink since he got to boot camp. He says the division are all awsome people and his Rack mate is Drew. I was so excited I couldn't remember some of the things I wanted to ask.
yey!!!! just got off from my 40 min phone call!! best phone call ever! aaaaaa this rocks!!! he said he has been sick this whole time mainly. said battlestations and the gas chamber were great, but really tired been up for like 36 hours or somthing!! said he got a 5.0 on his final inspections that makes it perfect score every time. gave me a bunch of info about about a school and being able to live with me and all that fun stuff at a school. says they should get there orders soon!! he was alot happier this phone call than all! he said next wed they will find out when exactlly when they fly out on sat but all will be at airport a 2am. but rdc are going to decided how late there liberty is on friday!! but cant member everything else. cant wait to see him yay!!
I'm so happy we're all finally rounding the bend! I asked Matt what he wanted us to bring up to PIR and he just said "Yourselves - that's all I want!" Kaitlynn is getting her hair done, but she said he called her and they got 25 minutes on the phone and she is so happy.
I got the call. Jeremy did it! He sounded tired and said he too might be getting sick but he said he is so happy it is almost over. He said DIV 190 got a Hall of Fame flag? He said the night was long but it was good. He is excited to see everyone next week. He is finished with testing so it should be all downhill to graduation. Left me with quite a lump in my throat....
I'm not sure; she said the next phone call would be on Tuesday, the 18th, so I assume that's after Battle Stations and that's what the other moms from DIV 192 are saying. But if Ashley is also doing it Monday, I'm confused. (Of course, that's not unusual...hehehe)
Just got my letters from Jess. She said that she will get a call Monday before they go to Battlestations, and then again on Tuesday with the "I'm a sailor" call. She got her orders and they say she goes the Tuesday after graduation, but was told that they were temporary orders and will change the day of graduation. If they do not change, she said she will not have watch duty at night for the weekend. She is very exciting because she got her rate of FC (Fire Controlman) and she is so very happy. Her letters were short because she said that they have to pass test 3 or they get put back 2 weeks. She said that they have a busy week this week and they are calling it Hell Week 2. A bunch of her bunkmates sent me Mother's Day wishes in with her letter. She wrote again on the 9th and gave me a list of things to bring. She also said that she is "not meritously advanced", but said that she it is all good because she did get promoted to E-2 in week 4. She also asked that I keep sending letters until Monday the 17th (that is what I had planned to do anyway).
All in all, the letters sounded great. She is very excited for me to go to the NEX with her. She said she could not believe all of the things they sell there. She also asked me to bring her her favorite junk food (doubled stuffed oreos and milkyways).
Sherri camille - in my daughters letter she said that they will leave for battlestations at 8 pm on the 17th.
Whoever is making ribbons, can you include one for me. I am not handy with crafts at all and I left all of that to my daughter. She used make me really nice nicknack boxes that are modpodged. I bought a few more of them for her to do whenever she gets leave and is home. She loves doing them.
YAHOO!!!! We are now down to 7 days and about 17 hours to PIR!!!!!
Congrats ksunagel! my son said the same thing about the Division being a great one. I asked if he had many friends and he said they were all his friends, they are a great group of guys. I am kind of relieved and so proud of all the new sailors. He said they let him buy a Reese's Peanutbutter cup but didn't think he could eat it because he wasn't feeling well. I hope they all get well by graduation. His voice was hoarse from yelling as well. I hope they all get a good nights sleep tonight.
My call came in at 2 PM (on the east coast) so it was 1PM in Illinois. I asked my Sailor about photos and he said that they have the option of mailing them home or keeping them to give to you at PIR. He said he was mailing him home, but has not done so yet. So I'm not sure I will have them by the time I fly out on Thursday... Hope this info helps, Tammy!
I think 4 in my family will be at the meet and greet, so if you have enough ribbon, I'd appreciate it if you included us. If you don't have enough, I'd like one and the others can stay close to me. Ha! I thought our division was having battle stations on Sun. I don't know where I got that, so I'm glad you all have let me know it's not til Monday or I would have been really upset not hearing from him on Monday. I'm so anxious to hear from him. I'm an emotional basketcase. It has helped me to get excited hearing those of you who have gotten the call. Congratulations.
Hi ladies, I got my call about 1:00 central he said "guess who's a sailor". I was in the middle of a restaurant and ran out the door, leaving my lunch mate to have lunch by herself (sorry). He sounded great, tired but oh so glad it's over. i asked him what they did and he said he'd have to kill me if he told me (ha-ha). Can't wait until Friday. What color ribbons did you guys decide on? I won't be there for Thurs so I want to have mine for Friday. Great day ladies to all our new sailors and those of you are still waiting, hang in there, it's an awesome experience.
I heard that DIV 189 only got about 15 minutes to make their call (or atleast that's what my Sailor told me). And that they were having a big of a rough time. I will keep them (DIV 189 & your son, Sara) in my prayers.
thanks meg!! u rock. everyone has been so great with all the help. but i will rsvp for me and my mother in law in case she wants to go!! so i will be there as long as we are there on time which i dont see why we wouldnt. lookforward talking to u about our calls tonight!! :)
Gloria, I was told that 192 was originally going to Battlestations on Sunday. I saw it posted here somewhere, but it's not until Monday. Thank goodness my daughter included that in her letter because I would have been a wreck if I didn't get a call on Monday. However, she did say that 192 will get to call on Monday before they go to battlestations, and then again on Tuesday after its done. I am hoping that she just didn't get her days mixed up, but this time I am not going to get wacked out if she doesn't call on Monday.
My son is ship 14 Div 193 - does anyone know when they go to BS? I think they will probably be the last ones to go - maybe next Tuesday. Any information wouldbe appreciated
Just got a 5 minute call. She said they can have light make up and her hair straightener. I told her no problem and that I would overnight them tomorrow. She said that she passed all her PT. Said that one girl didn't pass the run and they gave her one more shot. Jess ran with her for motivation and she passed. She said that tomorrow is test 3 and dress white inspection. Saturday is captains cup. She is not sure if they will get to call Monday before battlestations, but 192 will definately call on Tuesday around 1:30 or 2 pm EST. She sounded great and was getting real excited about PIR and seeing us. It was great to hear her voice.
Great news Jess's Mom! Congrats on the phone call! I'm counting down until they call on Tuesday!!! I can't wait!
As for all of you ladies with recruits...excuse me .... SAILORS ... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I can't even imagine the overwhelming sense of pride you feel right now! Now its just a breeze until PIR!
For all the Divisions who still have to go through BS or who are currently in it, my prayers go out to you! We're almost there!
I see all these posts about ribbons - is that for graduation or the meet-n-greet? My son is ship 14 div 193. He is married so is wife gets all the information. I am going to graduation but not getting the information is hard for me.
Got the phone call around 2:30 today!!! It was only like 5 minutes, but soooo worth every second!! Said battle stations went really well, and that he's so ready for PIR! We were both sure there would be tears in this call, but I was just smiling the entire time, that they never happened! SO PROUD OF ALL OF THESE SAILORS!!! And I'll be praying for all the other divisions going through BS in the next week!
Jess's Mom...... congrats and thanks for the news update. Rob's letter yesterday was brief. He only mentioned gas chambers. Once again I can't thank everyone enough on here for all the details given. Without all of you, we'd all be so much in the dark on things. I hope we get the before BS call on Monday.. just wish we had a definite time frame, but knowing the approx time for Tuesday's call is exciting. Don't think I'll be getting much sleep Monday night knowing the call is coming the next day. I am so proud of all of our recruits..and sailors but even so very proud of all of us here. We did it ladies... this time next week we'll be sitting and watching and crying...at PIR. Can't believe that it was so many weeks ago that our tears were of the initial separation and loss we all were going through... now it's totally different. We shared so much and I feel like we're all family. Can't wait to see you all next week. Go Navy4Moms!!!!
I agree with all of momof5's comments. This site is great - just what I needed. Just think all of the people that are not on this site and going thru this all alone. I feel for them. One week from today we will be heading to PIR which, I have heard is awesome. I am so excited to see my son and all of you.
Jeannie, did someone answer your question about the ribbons? I also sort of half followed the discussion and am unclear about whether they are for meet-n-greet, PIR, or both.
Does anyone know what day DIV 194 will be going to BS? My brothers letters don't give much information (Naturally the way men write letters :) ) and I haven't seen anyone in here talking about DIV 194. Thanks ladies for everything and Congratulations to everyone that goes their "I'm A Sailor" calls already!
I got another letter yesterday, this one mostly upbeat, says her division is still kicking butt, may make both the Battle E and CNO flags. She was a little bummed when the RDCs passed out the collar devices to the recruit who advanced to E2 or E3 and she didn't get one, but tried to be philosophical about it. She says the males are already making Liberty weekend jokes and offers, thinks it's kind of funny but feels it's going to get old quick.
She also says she can do 8counts for an hour--what's an 8count?
And this observation: Sometimes being IT'd for an hour and a half is easier than being It'd for 10 minutes. It just depends on whether the RDC is or isn't a SEAL. And the steel-toed boots have 2X the cushioning than the NAVY dress shoes.
Seems they should do a better job keeping them from passing around all the germs. maybe put hand sanitizer everywhere. They keep on getting sick over and over, I hope she doesn't have to stay longer to graduate. I know my son is soooo ready to be out of there. He was feeling sick again. At least he made it through Battlestations....
