THank you so much my3sons; I am so looking forward to Thursday!
  • Jeannie (ET)

Soon div 193 will be in battlestations - can't stop thinking about it. As my son has a wife she will get the call - so please ladies when you get the call post it here so I know when it is over. Got my fingers crossed that they will all make it.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Thanks my3sons for the ribbons. Can't wait to meet you all on Thursday
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

I'm so excited! Thank you so much for the ribbons my3sons and good luck to all of you with recruits going into battlestations shortly. The wait is very hard, but the phone call at the end is so incredibly wonderful! I'm starting on my journey tomorrow morning, so I look forward to meeting you all at the meet and greet!
Did everyone get their calls today?
  • Gloria (Ship 04 Div 192)

I haven't gotten to talk to Joshua yet. I'm guessing he forgot the cell number but the answering machine at home had a bunch of hangups including one that showed it was a collect call. I feel terrible that I wasn't home to receive the call and I hope they let him try again. Has anybody else not talked to their Sailor yet? I'm wondering if calls are still being made.
  • Cynthia=Proud Nuke Mommy

@Traci- you got an hour 5???? LOL. You lucky girl! I got 30 and made the sacrifice so my son could call another. I'm jealous, but happy for you.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

mikesproudmom, it certainly has been quite a ride and to hear their voices and excitement, pride, optimism and bright expectations for the future is fabulous. Savannah mentioned that their RDC had them fold a flag and do a little ceremony, then had each recruit explain what that flag meant to them. She said it was the most personal, emotional experience ever and did so much for strengthening their bonds. It gave me goose bumps and brought tears of pride to my eyes.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Don't worry Jeannie, we will keep his group in our prayers and they will do just fine.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Maggie, don't worry (I know, easy to say, hard to do) . I've heard some divisions weren't able to call until the next day. But if you've heard they passed, that helps. We'll keep praying for you.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

mikesproudmom, it has been such an amazing, inspiring journey these kids have gone through. Savannah would never have admitted to patriotic feelings prior to this experience. She has always kept her feelings under wraps (even as a toddler, she hardly ever cried, she was so strong) so to hear her tell me about this little ceremony was so moving.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

I want to thank all of you because being able to share this experience with other moms, wives, girlfriends, sisters, etc. had helped me get through this. It was tough enough seeing my only child embark on such an adventure, and while I was always so proud, I was also worried. Sharing with all of you has mad this journey so much more bearable and enriching. Can't wait to meet you all in person on Thursday.
  • Jeannie (ET)

Mikeproudmom - I hope I do get a call - it would be wonderful. I haven't talked to my son since he left. We are heading out late Thursday morning so we should be there early afternoon. We live in western IL. I agree this site has been so good for me - without it I wouldn't have much information. I will be checking all day tomorrow for any news on how div 193 did.
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

Per is going to be an EM headed to Goose Creek for Nuke. Not an MM though. I can't wait to move to SC!
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

mikesproudmom, I have always been the one to sing that national anthem at all events, and get goose bumps and teary-eyed every time. I was born in Cuba and this is my adopted country though I will always be proud of my Cuban heritage. So to see Savannah admitting to these feelings is so meaningful. It was never anything I thought about, I just felt it and did it.
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

I absolutely agree. And I will definitely report back whenever I can to all the Nuke moms! The ladies have to stay in the loop.
  • Patty_CDS

TammySue. She will do fine when she is feeling better. It won't matter in a few weeks when she passes and conpletes the journey. Stay strong. And have faith.
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

my3sons......thanks so much....do you have 4 for me?
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

Hahaha! Go 192!!! Some of us 192 ladies have been together on this site from the start, back when we thought they were in a completely different division! I'm so so glad that we're going to be a big strong group on Thursday and especially on Friday! Let's see if we can cheer the loudest!!!
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

:-) thanks again. I am still all excited. Now I probably won't sleep tonight because I'm excited...lol

Can't wait to see everyone on Thursday. We will be at the hotel around 1:00 so if I can be of any help setting up, please call my cell 917-515-2400.

Good luck to the Divisions who have BS tonight. You cannot believe how elated you'll feel when that call does come. My son couldn't stop talking. He had so much to tell me.

TammySue... Our prayers and support will follow your daughter. She will get better and stronger and reach her PIR.
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

mikesproudmom- ya i will be stopping alot lol!!
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

Definitely plan out those bathroom stops! I traveled for a friend's wedding when I was 8 months pregnant and needed to use a restroom SO badly and it was 40 miles to the next exit! By the time we got there, I ran in and asked for the key so fast, the woman working hesitated and said "You aren't going to give birth in that bathroom are you? Because I don't think I could handle that today." I laughed, peed a little, grabbed the key and ran for the door. THAT was an adventure!
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

lol that made me laugh!! :) i dont have any perticular places maped out!! but i will be stoping atleast every two hours maybe more lol hoping to try and sleep through a couple stops!! thanks for the advice :)
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

Was that too much information? I tend to over share. :)
I'm just giddy at this point. I will check back in tomorrow night when we're close to Chicago! So happy.
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

lol no not at all it made me smile!! hope to see you there have a safe trip!!
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

Thanks! See you on the site tomorrow! I want to know what everyone is going to be wearing to the meet and greet. I didn't really plan that one out.
    Goodnight ladies!!!!
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

Good Morning All, have to pack today. Still feeling giddy here too. Slept a little last nite..too much excitement.. LOL Can't wait for tomorrow night to finally meet my network of support.

Lovemysailor....drive safely... Traci, not sure what to wear either...lol probably comfy clothes. Mikesproudmom... regarding set up, wow that is really nice of the hotel. If something comes up keep my cell # handy. To all you ladies who might not know me other than "momof5" or Rob's mom.... my name is Janet.

To all of you waiting anxiously for those phone calls today...... they will call. got our call yesterday just before 3:00 EST. Rob said he was one of the first on the line for the phones. Lots of other recruits (excuse me...) SAILORS went to the candy line first...lol
    GO NAVY!!!!!
  • Jeannie (ET)

To all of you safe travels. About what to wear, I plan to dress casual for everything - that's the way I feel most comfortable and it is acceptable even at PIR. I have heard from a local navy dad that has been to PIR that you walk a long distant and sit in bleachers.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

To all of my new N4M friends...Thank you all so much for the support everyone has shown on this support site. I cannot wait to meet you all tomorrow night. I took the day off work today to pack, get the dogs their dogsitters, and close up the house. I am still so hypped up from yesterday and didn't sleep very well. We are leaving for the airport at about 4;30 in the am to catch our flight and should be arriving at Ohare about 12:45 pm (have a layover in Mrytle Beach) . We are staying at the Super 8 and that is about 3/10 of a mile from the Ramada so if the weather is nice, we are going to take a nice stroll there. We are planning on getting there early because I won't be able to contain myself sitting around waiting to meet everyone. For those who are waiting for their call today, it will come.

I hope everyone has a safe trip to Great Lakes. For those driving, be careful and stay alert. Stop and rest if you get tired. 2 MORE DAYS!!!!
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Over the past 8 weeks, the hardest thing I feel I had to do was to cut that final cord. When she turned 18, I let the cord loosen, but not all the way. This experience was my test as well to see if I could let go and let my adult child move onto her own life. Now I know how my mother felt when she had to let me go to live my own life. It was hard not having that little bit of control, but I survived. Having only 1 child, it was hard to send her into the world alone and not worry constantly, but I could not be any more proud of her at this very moment.

my3sons...That is call is well worth the wait!!!! Good luck, have a safe travel, and hope to see you tomorrow night.
  • t-wifey (Ship 14/Div 189)

Sooo, there were 12 pages of posts since yesterday... I haven't read through them, but I'm hoping you all got your "Sailor" calls! It's an amazing phone call.

Can anyone tell me how we're going to pick each other out at the meet & greet or PIR? I know there was talk about buttons, but I don't know if that went anywhere. Sorry, I'm a little behind these days. If someone could just let me know on my page... I would be very appreciative.
    Thanks! -Tammy
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

my3sons- not sure if its to late but can u make a ribbion for me and my mother in law as well im a little behind sorry lol. and do we have to get up on mic?? lol
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

OMG ladies, these posts are making me cry......yet again. LOL
I'm so very proud of all of us and our sailors. The overwhelming set of emotions is confusing, but it's all good. I really can't wait to meet all of you... Friday will be spectacular. How long do you think they'll let me hug my son? LOL
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

My3sons - the Ramada Inn - is it the one at 200 N. Greenbay Road?
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

I agree with Jess's Mom and my3sons, couldn't have done this without all of you providing info, support, helpful hints, funny comments, and understanding. Savannah is my only child and I know how difficult it is to send them off into the world. But this has been such a powerful and positive experience that I'm no longer as worried, just very proud of her, of all our Sailors and of us.
TammySue, my prayers are still with you and Bailey, and now she will have a chance to fully recuperate before she goes on to bigger and better things.
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Finished packing. The only thing left is the essentials that can't be packed until ready to go. Tammysue, hang in there. Bailey will be in my thoughts and prayers.
  • Gloria (Ship 04 Div 192)

Hey, everyone. I never did get a call from Joshua but we are still coming. We called the recruiter and he said he would have gotten word if Joshua did not pass so we should plan to go. Also some of you said everybody in 192 passed so we feel confident and can't wait to get there and talk to him in person.
  • T's mom

    Not yet.....???
  • T's mom

    Call right now!!!!!

  • grumsmom

I got my pictures in the mail today oh what a handsome boy and to see him in his dress blues. I don't think I'm gonna be able to sleep. You guys have been an awesome group of ladies i know there is no way I would have made it through these last 8 weeks without the support of this site.
I hope your calls come soon.
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

All great news ladies. See you tomorrow.

We're all thinking of you TammySue and keeping your daughter in our prayers. We won't abandon you after PIR...
  • grumsmom

  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

leaving in about an hour to head that way yay!! see you all soon
  • Jules

Maggie - Congrats! Our daughter is there, too.

TammySue - Our girls know each other quite well. Ali is the R-POC (I believe that is the term) for their division and they were rack mates. She has nothing but wonderful things to say about Bailey and she will PIR soon.

See you all tomorrow night...Tim (from N4D side)
