Beatrizm...how cool is that that the are roomies. I hope Savannah likes the beatles because I sent all of her cd's today and tomorrow I am shipping off her dvd collection.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Savannah loves the Beatles. Some times I think she was born a generation late! She was so excited when when were talking on Facebook tonight because Jess was sitting right next to her. And the reason she signed up for sailing lessons is that she went with Jess to the marina so Jess could get a fishing license.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Thank goodness the are together then. What is Savanah's rate? Jess is FC. Thank goodness they are both Beatles fans. They are going to have a blast together. It's good to know that the were together during bootcamp and I am sure they got to know each other very well there, and now they can further their friendship.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Savannah is GM (gunner's mate) and they are telling her they have no idea how long she'll be on hold for A school. In the mean time, I hope she doesn't get discouraged. She sounded a bit down when she called Tuesday after she found out the news, but sounded better on Wednesday, so we'll see.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Jess is on hold too. She is hoping it starts soon, but then she is also talking about taking her 5 days leave around July 4th. If they start school soon, she will not be able to take the leave.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Savannah was told the wait for her A school could be up to one yeat..not very promising. But we'll see. They have four days liberty this weekend, though Savannah has watch duty Saturday, so she only has Friday, Sunday and Monday for liberty.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Jess called this am and said that she may start next Monday. She had watch yesterday during the day. She called last night and they were all outside dancing and having a good time. Savannah was with them. I could hear all the hooplah in the background. Her laptop and phone were delivered yesterday but since it was a "holiday" she wont get them until Tuesday. Savannah was nice enough to let her use her phone. I hope they get to continue to room together once Jess starts school. She is really enjoying having a fellow Beatles fan as a roommate.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

I'm so glad they are finally getting to have a little fun. Savannah has watch today, and I tried to call her yesterday, but got her voice mail both times. My sister is in Chicago this weekend and is planning on spending time with Savannah, and Jess too, if she wants to go along with them, but I don't know the final plans yet.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Tammyw, does JP have any idea how long they are going to be on hold? Savannah is talking about taking the SAT so she can get started on college courses, because she was told they could be on hold up to a year. She got her iphone yesterday, and she was going to go exploring in Chicago, I think, but I haven't heard from her. Today she has watch duty, too.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Jess said she thanked Savannah for the invite but was asked to go fishing tomorrow with a male Sailor.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

TammySue, I am so glad that Bailey is doing much better. I can't imagine what a scare it was for the doctors to tell her that something may be wrong with her heart, especially since you weren't there with her. Once she gets entirely healed up, she can restart her journey. Please keep us posted from time to time. You and Bailey are both in my prayers.
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

Thanks for the update TammySue. Thank God her heart is ok. With enough rest and meds Bailey should be healed up soon. Please keep us up-to-date on her progress. She is still in our prayers.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Tammyw-- thanks for the info on the GM group; I'll check it out. She seems to be doing okay, getting to meet people and she, too, took the finance course. I understand that doing well in A school is the best way to ensure getting your top pick when it comes to assignments, so I've told her to study a lot. :)
  • Tamijzr07

OooHHH! Sailor MoesGirl ! I just noticed the name Change to SailorMoesFiancee :)
Congrats and Best Wishes for You Both !
  • SNMoesWifey - STG

Thank you so much! We are both extremely excited. =)
I just can't hold back all the smiles!
It feels like I am the luckiest girl in the whole world.
He ended up proposing to me right before he left to fly back
to San Diego after his 3 day visit. He's trying to come back out for the 4th of July weekend. Thank goodness for this hold lol
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

just wanted to say hi to everyone see how them and there sailors are doing now?? Im in pensacola with my hubby its great! rains to much and is really hot other than that its great. just waiting for baby to get here only a few more weeks i hope. im 35 weeks now!
  • Tamijzr07

we haven't received it yet either :)
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

SailorMoesFiancee--congratulations, that's great news! Is he going to be in San Diego for A school? It's very nice out there. I have relatives in the area and i've been to visit a few times, always enjoyed it. Lots to do, a big city, but friendly.
lovemysailor, any day now! The heat and humidity won't go away, it's Florida, daily rains are the norm, but you'll feel better after the baby comes. Let us know when the big day happens...
    I didn't order a DVD, wish I had,so I'm not much help there.
tammyw, Savannah met JP the other day,. so now she knows who I'm talking about. Savannah is officially off hold, starts ATT today and will be moved either today or tomorrow. She sound pretty excited about it, and very glad that she's finally starting. She opted for night classes, so she can sleep in in the mornings. (Sleep was always very important to her...hehehe)
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Beatrim...Jess was so dissappointed when they moved her to another BQ, but she started ATT today as well. She is hoping that Savannah gets moved to her BQ soon. They still hang out though and went shopping on Saturday. I know that they chat almost everyday either texting or fb. Jess had to breakdown and buy verizonn wireless internet because she was having problems with getting the the wifi in her new BQ. Of course she put it on my account and promised to send me money for that and her cell phone. We will see how much that works out. But I am glad that her and Savannah have become good friends. I know that Jess really misses not sharing a bunk with her. She tells me everynight that she misses rooming with her. Jess is so excited to be able to wear civies for this weekends liberty. Everynight she asks for more things to be sent.

CONGRATULATIONS SailorMoes"Fiancee". Have you planned a wedding date yet? Please keep us informed and post pictures of the wedding.

lovemysailor....best of luck on your upcoming addition to the family. At least you will be all together for the birth. And don't forgot to post some pictures of the little one.

I ordered the DVD and they said it would be 4 to 6 weeks before it arrives.

mikesproudmom....it sounds like all is going in the right direction for your son, but i am with you on preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best. Just keep thinking positive.

Take care ladies and I will check in soon.
  • Patty_CDS

Hi everyone! How do we order a DVD of PIR. My son didn't want it but I do.
    Tammy...How is Bailey?
  • Jeannie (ET)

Hi all. Been awhile since I have been on this site. I talk to my son often now that he has a cell - it is so wonderful. Congratulations SailorMoes"Fiancee - so happy for you. Tammy - I hope Bailey is getting better every day. I mentioned bailey to my son and he said he knows her.

lovemysailor - yes Florida is like that & can't wait to see pics of your new addition to the family.

My son Ryan is in A school at Great Lakes - he will be there for up to 2 years - for A & C school. He is an ET(advanced electronics) I think. I am glad for that as we live in western IL just 3 hours away so he will be home often and we will be able to go up there often too. Soon his wife and my only 2 grandchildren will be joining him up there so I am glad they will be close. He signed up for 6 years and I know at some point he will be farther away so I will enjoy the time they are close by.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

TammySue-hope Bailey gets good news today!
mikesproudmom--the same for Mike! I know the waiting has been difficult. Savannah said she classed up during her hold (I'm guessing that's similar to phase up), but don't know exactly what it involves.
Jess's Mom- Savannah said she is moving today, and there are three possibilities as to where she is going, but wouldn't know until today. One of the choices was Jess's BQ, which she was hoping for. We'll see where she ends up. She is hoping to get leave for July 4th weekend and wants to come home, but don't know if that will be possible. We'll see. She is also having trouble with the internet and was telling me about what Jess is doing. I happen to have an extra air card, so I'm going to send it to her and then she can get the service going on that. But it is so nice to talk to her so often! And almost every time we talk she adds another item she wants me to send :)
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Beatrizm-Jess called today mainly to tell me that she passed out this morning while they were in formation getting a commendation for being the neatest BQ from being sunburnt and suffering from a bad spring cold, but also to let me know that she is crossing her fingers waiting on pins and needles to find out if Savannah is going to moved to her BQ. She said she really hasn't meshed with any one in her BQ and could really use a friendly face around. She has classed up at night as well. I forgot to ask her if she is in any classes with Savannah. We tried to OovoO (just like Skype and web chat), but she couldn't get her macbook to cooperate. We are going to try again tonight when she gets back from class. Jess is also trying to get leave for the 4th but from everything I have heard, even while they are on hold, they cannot take leave until after A School. That means she will not be able to come home for 33 weeks. I hope that everything I read was not correct. She is really counting on coming home for the 4th. Her cousin's fiancee is a Sailor and will be coming home for 2 weeks starting the 1st before he ships out to Afghanastan and she wants to see him and thank him. He was a big influence on her decision to join the Navy. He really helped her get prepared mentally and physically for boot camp and when got his orders to go to CA for Afghan training, he remained in close contact with her and her recruiter to make sure she was ready. I know she will really be bummed if she can't get home.
Tammy-Sue - still keeping my fingers crossed for good news from Bailey.
Mikesproudmom - keeping fingers crossed that you get good news from Mike very soon.

    Chat with you all later.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

mikesproudmom, so glad to hear he passed the iodine test. Keeping my fingers crossed for the waiver and the flight to Charleston!!! YIPPPEEE!!
Jess's Mom, Savannah told me today that her move has been postponed until Tuesday, and she still doesn't know if she will be in Jess's BQ or not. Did Jess get the sunburn when they were doing the human flag? Savannah did, too, but haven't heard that she's been feeling bad or anything. I was kind of surprised when she told me she was hoping to get leave to come home for the 4th, because, like you, thought they wouldn't be able to get leave until after A school, but it seems like things change from one day to the next and apparently each BQ is different, I guess depending on who is in charge. (Kind of like boot camp, where there division didn't get many opportunities to call home, while some of the other divisions had lots of calls. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. How long is Jess's A school? Savannah's is supposed to be 24 weeks, but I guess they don't start counting until after this ATT stuff they are doing now, and that is supposed to be 4 weeks. It's frustrating for me to just wait and see what happens, I can't imagine how it feels to them.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Beatrizm, Jess's A school is a total of 33 weeks (10 of ATT and 23 of A School), but then she goes directly to C School for another 40 weeks before she even gets her first deployment. She looking at about 2 years in school, but she will get to take more leaves once she is in C School. She will also have her associates degree in computer electronics after C School. The only 2 bases that her C school is at is California and Virginia and she is hoping for Virginia because she will be about 6 hours from home and she can drive home on a Friday after school and leave to go back Sunday around noon when she earns leave or doesn't have watch duty. Yes, she got the sunburn from the human flag and then to top it off, she went to Hurricane Harbor at 6 Flags on Sunday and got it even worse. This is not the first time she passed out from too much sun. She is too stubborn to put sunscreen on and really doesn't like to sunbathe at all (she is definately her father's child). I have worshiped the sun since I was a kid and I will probably pay for it later in life. She would rather spend her time in a cold, dank, ice arena where it's cold all year round. She also wants to come home for the 4th because her old ice hockey team is playing a tournament that weekend and they really want her to play. Its the young adults vs. the old foggies. They all have a blast playing and she loves it because as usual, she and their goalie are the only women who play with the men. And I have to confess, it's fun to watch them play against the old timers.

Well, I guess Jess will just have to cross her fingers a little longer waiting to see if Savannah gets moved to her BQ. Keep me posted on whats going on on your end and I will keep you posted on what I hear from Jess.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

TammySue, my heart goes out to you and Bailey; she's had such a tough time of it. If there is anything I can do to help keep her spirits up, send care packages or anything, please let me know. It's so hard when you plan for your future and set off on a new adventure only to get sick and have to deal with these obstacles. But I'm sure she is strong and we are all praying and pulling for her and for you. I will keep the two of you in my prayers.

Jess's Mom, I got a big laugh out of the whole sun thing. I was born in Cuba, and Savannah was born and raised in Florida, so the beach has always been a big part of our lives. The difference is that my skin is darker than Savannah's, and she is very very fair, with that silky blond hair, so she can't stay out in the sun like I can (and, yes, I'm sure I'll pay for it later). But she loves to spend time at the beach and I'm always after her to use that sunscreen. When she was growing up, we used to rent a condo at the beach (about an hour away from home) for the month of July, and used to commute back and forth. We would head to the beach on Fridays after work, stay until Tuesday afternoon, then head home to the work routine Wednesday through Friday, and repeat the whole thing every weekend. It was wonderful, like being on vacation for a month, yet close enough so that if there was an issue at work, we were close enough to go back. So all her life, she's loved the beach, whether in the water jumping the waves or body surfing, or in the pool, or exploring the dunes. In fact, come February, we all start to get beach fever and the first nice, warm day we get, we head over to the coast. I just bought her a tube of Neutrogena sunscreen especially for faces with an SPF of 110!!! That's where she gets burned the quickest and worst, so I hope she will use that. Her hair used to turn almost white in the sun, too.
Whew! I've gone on and on, didn't mean to bore you. But it brought back such great memories of those summers at the beach. We always went with another family that was very close to us, and we spent the days on the beach, and then the other mom and I would make dinner because we liked to cook and we hated to drag the kids to a restaurant and have to wait for tables and hear everybody complain. So while we made dinner, the dads and the kids would play tag football on the lawn or fly kites or go in search of sand crabs. Those were wonderful summers! I'm sure your hockey games and tournaments bring back wonderful memories for you, too. Alright, I've gotten nostalgic enough for one night. I'll stop now before the tears start... :)
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Beatrizm, I got to talk to Savannah today when Jess called. She got on the phone and said "Hi mom". It was great. At least they are in class together at night. I think they were planning their weekend. Jess just bought tickets to see Paul McCartney on August in Philadelphia and I think she got her leave approved for that weekend. She is nixing the 4th request for leave because she wants to to see McCartney.
  • Patty_CDS

Is it too late to order a video from PIR may 21, can anyone help me with this?
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Jess's Mom, Savannah messaged me about an hour ago that she was about to move to the Halsey with Jess! She's happy about that. Won't be coming home for the 4th, says she can't get leave while she is in ATT school. Leave won't happen until A school.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Beatrizm, Jess called me about 3:15 and told me she is moving in but they are not roomies, but on the same floor. Jess is so happy. Jess put in for leave for 8/13 at night until 8/15 and I think it was approved. She is coming home to see Paul McCartney at the Wachovia Center. She already bought the tickets. She said ATT school can be completed sooner than 10 weeks if you do very well, so she is hoping she will be done by then. She said she will be put on hold for who knows how long until she starts A School. At this rate, she will have her 4 years done before she even gets deployed. Her rate means she has to go from A school directly to C School before deployment.

I am just so happy for the girls. I know they really wanted to be roomies, but at least they are in the same BQ and are together in ATT school.

Gotta run and start dinner. Talk to you again soon. Have a great rest of the day.
  • Jeannie (ET)

To mikesproudmom - that is so sad. You would think they would check that before sending them thru bootcamp. I'm hoping for a good outcome for you and your son.
  • Tamijzr07

mikesproudmom(Nuke), I've just been checking this site briefly. I truly wish the best for your son. Stay strong :)
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Bearizm, Jess and Savannah made the most goofy video and posted it on facebook. You have to see it. If your not on facebook have Jess email it to you and you will see what our girls do when they are bored. It's funny.
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

Hi everybody. Sorry I haven't checked in for awhile. It appears I missed a lot.

Mikesproudmom, I can't believe what I read. You'd think the Navy would confirm and test everyone before BC for such allergies. I pray your son is in the right 50% group. Hey, I'd like to know about the liberty thing too. I'm at a loss.
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

mikesproudmom- please let us know as soon as you know!! will say a prayer tonight. miss talking to u on fb xoxo
  • Patty_CDS

tamyw- is there any ordering infomation in the video? Now he wants one!
Does any one know who was given the company flag? I asked and got an email that they voted on who gets to keep it, but my son says he doesn't know anything about that. And would like to have it.
    Good luck miksproud mom....
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

MIkesproudmom, Congratulations on this first step! We have all been praying for you and Mike and we are so happy! I hope he gets his dream of Nukes, but if not, he will do just fine wherever he ends up.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

TammySue, I haven't been on very much lately. How is Bailey?
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

Received the DVDs yesterday too. Will have to wait to watch it until tomorrow when I'm not working my second job...
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

Mikesproudmom - Congrats. Good News... Crossing my fingers and saying more prayers that Mike will get Nuke.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Mikesproudmom, you and Mike have been in my prayers. I hope he will get Nuke.

I got my DVD yesterday too and watched it. It wasn't like being there but for your family and friends who were unable to attend, it is perfect. If anyone needs to order anything more the telephone number at GL NEX Photo Lab 847-578-6205.
  • Patty_CDS

Iodine is used to purify water sources in areas when clean water is not available. SO glad that Mike's journey continues..
  • Jeannie (ET)

mikesproudmom - so happy for you and especially your son.

tammysue - I can't believe they can't clear up the pneumonia. Although I had bacterial pneumonia and it tooks months for it to totally be gone. Do you know what kind she has?
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Ok ladies, I have to vent somewhere and I know you all have become my N4M friends and this is a not a Navy subject. Jess's father has not paid childsupport in a number of years, however, since his lawyer contacted me in April and asked if I would agree to wait until his lawsuit is settled (was in a very bad accident that left him unable to ever work again and is filling for federal disability as well as suing the company that owned the vehicle that hit him) would I agree not to pursue the NJ Child Support division to issue any warrants for his arrest. I agreed in writing and also stated that the Child Support should cease on 12/31/09 since she was done with college and was already in MEPs. Last week my ex called and said that he just received a payment book for child support for 2010. So I called the CS department and they said that I have to emancipate my 19 year daughter who now belongs to the United States Navy. I could have been a b-tch with my ex but I do not want him to pay for her while she no longer lives with me and is now an independent woman. I waited for 16 years for the courts to do something to get him to pay, and now that she is an adult, they decide they are gonna do something. My ex, myself, and my husband all mended our ways during PIR weekend and we all spent our time with Jess together. Now my hubby and ex texted all the time. Who woulda thought. Anyway, I had to drive my butt to our county seat on my last mandatory furlough day to sign a paper to emancipate my adult child when I could have been sitting on the beach. Of course I was not being the nicest person while I was there, but it is taken care of. And was given some very interesting information. New Jersey is the only state in the USA that you must legally emancipate their children when they move out or your home and do not need your support, get married, or join the military. How assine. I am a state employee and I know how screwed up NJ is, but I really think this the worst law ever. That means that if my daughter was still living at home and she got into any kind of trouble, I would be personally held accountable for my adult child.

Thank you for letting me vent, but now onto to some good news. Jess is now in Phase II has has full liberty beginning tonight at 10 pm and does not have to return to base until Sunday night at 10 pm. She can wear her civies and she is so excited. One of her friends is having a birthday this weekend and a whole crew of Sailors are gonna celebrate his birthday. She also said that she is 2.5 days ahead of schedule with ATT and hopes her leave for 8/13 through 8/15 is approved so she can go see Paul McCartney at the Wachovia Center. She was able to pre-purchase her tickets because she is military a week early and the day the tickets went on sale they were sold out in 15 minutes.

mikesproudmom - still keeping my fingers crossed that he gets into Nukes, but since scored so well to get offered Nukes and if he can't go, I am sure he will be offered another great rate. Jess's was offered Nukes, but it was not something she wanted to do so she was so happy when she was given FC, which is a great position with a lot of advancement and is very high demanding position when she retires from the Navy (she wants to be a lifer).

Beatrizm, I hope you got a chance to see the goofy video the girls did. Jess keeps telling me that they are Navy best friends which is awesome. Jess never makes close friends very easily and only has one at home, so I was so happy that her and Savannah have bonded. I think they both need each other during this journey.

Take care ladies, and again thank you for letting me vent. Off to do housework.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

TammySue, I am hoping and praying that the doctor's can get Bailey well. Speaking of Shari Lewis and Lampchop, my mother was Shari's babysitter when she grew up in Hamilton Township in NJ. When I was a little girl my mother took me to one of her shows and introduced me to her and lampchop. I know the song very well because my mother used to sing it to me every night to put me and my brother to sleep.

I am crossing my fingers that everything goes well. The Navy has the best doctors in the world. Keep thinking positive.
  • Jules

TammySue, I spoke with our daughter, Al, yesterday - she and others from Bailey's division have been wondering how she is doing. She asked that I relay a message to let Bailey know the 927 is thinking of her and wishing her the best. And I wish her the best too. Glad to read your most recent post.
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

that is sooooooooo great mikesproudmom!!! yay!!
  • Jeannie (ET)

So happy for you and your son mikesproudmom. Just found out today my son's family (wife and 2 kids) are moving to Kenosha, WI - so they can all be together and my son can live off base. My son is done with ATT in August but there is a 6 month wait for his ET 'A' school. Not sure what he will do while he waits.
