    congrats Mikesproudmom...on Michael's new contract.
TammySue, good news about Bailey too.

My thoughts are always with all of you.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Mikesproudmom, Congratulations! it's not exactly what he planned, but at least he is still there, and now he has a new plan.
Tammysue, great to hear that Bailey is finally making progress. I'll still keep her in my prayers.
Tammyw, Savannah is in the same area as JP, just moved on to another level of ATT school, but still has some ways to go. THere are quite a few levels, which they can do at their own pace, but she's been stuck in this one level for a bit.
Jess'smom, still haven't seen the vide of Jess and Savannah, but haven't heard much from Savannah lately. Am glad that they've become friends, Savannah has never had many close girl friends and I think she's needed that. They are all very excited because they have a long weekend this weekend and she finally phased up so she was able to start wearing civilian clothes on liberty last weekend.
  • Patty_CDS

TammySue: I passed on Bailey progress the the 927 sailors in Pensacola. So glad she is turning a corner on this. She has been so strong and they are lucky to have her.
Mikesproudmom.....phew! now the celebration begins... Wonderful news.
  • T's mom

    mikesproundmom,
We met back in May ...my son Trevor is aviation in Pensacola...
He has loved it since day one...they did wait about a week to class up ...but used that time to learn the area. He said there is so much to do and folks
are so Friendly. He will be finishing up July 28th ..still waiting to se what's next...Keep Smiling....
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Hi my N4M friends, Hope everyone had a joyous 4th of July. I did and I kept my Sailor in my thoughts all day. Went into Philly for an awesome, but hot day and shook every Sailors hand that I could find. There was a great presence of all the branches of the military in attendance. It was great. We couldn't make it to the fire works. It was a long hot day and we were with another couple and she is 8 months pregnant, so we left just before nightfall and were able to see our hometown fireworks from our front porch. Jess told me that the base had fireworks last night. Hope all of our Sailors had a great day yesterday.

Take care all and I will stop back again soon.
  • JasonM'sGirl (Ship 14 Div 189)

mikesproudmom, my boyfriend is in Pensacola too and loves it! He says he has made a ton of new friends and that there is a lot to do! My parents and I went to visit him last weekend and it was incredibly hot, but we had a fantastic time going to the beach and visiting the base/Naval Aviation Museum! He was phase two, so he had to be back at midnight each night, but could be picked up at 7:30am every morning so I got to spend most time with him! He phased up last Monday, and applied for an out-of-bounds chit (to get farther than 200 miles off base?) and came home this weekend for the 4th of July (Thursday after class-Monday morning)! We had a wonderful weekend! I'm so spoiled now because I saw him the last TWO weekends! He should be home by late August, but he's loving Pensacola, so he's having a great time! I hope your son likes it too, I'm sure he will! And hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!
  • JasonM'sGirl (Ship 14 Div 189)

That is great that he is now on this track! I know Jason still hangs out with his friends from boot camp! He graduates his core AO classes on July 20th, and depending on his orders (which he thinks he should get in two weeks or so), he will hopefully be home by the mid/end of August, but possibly sooner. It all depends on whether he is stationed on a ship or squadron. He then gets 15 days of leave before reporting to his next duty station! Once I find out how long he will be there, I'm hoping to visit him again up in Pensacola! He was Grad&Go after bootcamp, so it was great spending more than just one day with him! That would be great if you could visit Mike! They really love having visitors, obviously! Hope he gets to Pensacola soon and can start this new journey!
  • lovemysailor (ship 14 div 190)

MIkesproudmom- so he is going to pcola i thought his school was in great lakes??? baby should be here soon i hope :)
  • JasonM'sGirl (Ship 14 Div 189)

Actually, Jason is AO. He finishes A-School and then has his two-week leave before reporting to his duty station. He should be finding out where he'll be stationed soon! And you're right, there's no questioning the Navy haha! Mike probably wouldn't be able to have visitors this soon. They can't go off-base in Phase One, but I don't know if his phases will carry over from Great Lakes or if he has to start over, hope he doesn't! That's great that he's excited about his job!
  • T's mom

Trevor is finishing A school in Pcola on the 28..just got order he is off for two weeks..then off to Jacksonville Florida....
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

Hi girls.......... great news TammySue. It's so hard to keep up with all the updates...lol Thank you all for keeping up the postings. We're going down to Goose Creek to see Rob this Friday for the weekend. Can't wait. He's doing great. Nuke program is really challenging but he's holding his own. Cant believe the change in him in such a short period of time. So very proud of him and all our sailors. tata for now...
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

Hey everyone! It's great to hear how well everyone is doing. Boot camp feels like a lifetime ago now.
We're settled here in Goose Creek and attempting to get a steady routine in place. Perry is doing great. He's phase 2 now which makes life a little simpler and he's at the top of his a school class so he only has 5 study hours a week! He's a natural with the material he's learning so he's looking forward to the coming weeks getting a bit more challenging.
So far the weather is no different than FL so I'm impatiently awaiting colder weather! I'm also hoping that being further north we will get affected by less hurricanes. I found out that we're on a fault line though, so apparently there are earthquakes?!?! But they're mostly mild ones from what I hear. That will be a totally new experience....
Well, I hope everyone's Sailors are doing well! They pretty much all seem to be friends on facebook so I check up on them from time to time through Perry's facebook. :) Have a great rest of your week ladies!!!
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

Hi ladies, what a weekend. 14 1/2 hrs of driving and Rob didn't know if he'd be able to leave the base. 2nd suicide of a nuke sailor this week. The second committed suicide Friday morning, just hours before we got there to pick up Rob. My heart aches for both those families...so sad. We all tried to get past this sadness and enjoy the weekend, which we did with an underlying sense of remorse for those sailors and their families..and guilt for having so much fun together. It's frightening that these 2 after getting so far..and accomplishing so much, believed that they had no other way out. I hope counseling is available for everyone there on base and for these devestated families. Heartfelt sympathy and prayers are sent to all.....
  • T's mom

Sure makes you think you have no Worries...
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

I can only imagine what those families are going through. My heart and prayers go out to them. Makes us all realize how blessed we are how small our worries are by comparison. God bless them.
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

I just read that 2 more sailors in Great Lakes committed suicide this past weekend too... OMG what is going on? This is horrifying!!!
  • T's mom

This has been on my mind from last week and now to read two more from GL
    from over the weekend....
May God be with them, comfort them, and keep the familes in our Prayers....
  • Tamijzr07

How sad for these Sailors and their families and friends. I just want to hug my kids right now. This is very scary. I agree. I will keep them in my thoughts and pray for them.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Oh my goodness. I talked with Jess today and she hadn't heard anything about these situations. Anyone know where I can get some more info about the two from Great Lakes. Just curious if they were still in bootcamp or at the Naval Station. Jess is surprised that she would have, at the least, heard about the two from GL.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

I was chatting with Savannah on line last night and she mentioned that she attended some type of class where they talked to them about some of the issues they might face and how to handle them, as well as making them aware that there are chaplains they can talk to. They also asked them to keep an eye on their fellow sailors and try to report anyone that might be in trouble. During this class, they mentioned several suicides, 3 I think. I feel so sad for their families, my prayers are with them.
  • Sara

Talked to Gerry at Great Lakes photo labs yesterday. He said the Keel books for PIR 5/21/10 would be sent out in about two weeks. They had some delays but it's all worked out now. Just thought I'd let everyone know.
  • Patty_CDS

Does anyone know who was able to keep the company flag?
  • Tamijzr07

Thanks for the info on the Keel books. I was starting to think we werent getting one. Patience I guess. :) take care
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

I just got the keel book yesterday. They are really nice.
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

    It came regular mail.
  • Tamijzr07

Sailor Moes Wife! Congrats and much happiness to you both :) What a beautiful photo. Be Happy :)
  • SNMoesWifey - STG

Thank you Tamijzr07! We got married 8/20 on Coronado Beach, San Diego =) We couldn't be happier <3
  • T's mom

Got ours about 2 weeks ago.....Get Calling!!!!
  • Jeannie (ET)

Haven't been here in awhile - hope all your sailors are doing well. My sailor son and his family now live in Kenosha , WI. My son is at 'A' school now at Great Lakes and will be there till Feb 4th. I love it that they are so close as I live in western IL. After Feb, he will go to 'C' at either San Diego, Virginia, or Pensecola. Lots of trips are in my future so I can properly spoil my 2 gandchildren.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Ladies, I haven't been on here in quite some time; seems everybody is doing okay. Congrats to Sailor Moe's Wife...what a beautiful photo of your wedding and many blessings to you both.

Savannah finishes A school October 29 and has verbal orders to be stationed in Sasebo, Japan as a beachmaster. It's been exciting and a little surprising, considering she was hoping to head to Europe first. But when the time came, she picked this position and is very excited about it. It's a tremendous opportunity and she is very excited. She will spend 25-30 days in San Diego before she heads off to Japan, as that is her Beachmaster Unit 1's home base. We have relatives in San Diego, Huntington Beach, and Los Angeles, so she'll have visitors and I may be able to go see her before she leaves.
Hope you are well and everyone is healthy and happy.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

By the way, what is a keel book? Somewhere along the way I missed that.
  • momof5 (Ship 04 Div 192)

    Hi all,
It's been awhile since I've checked in. We got the keel about 3 weeks ago.
How is everyone? Miss you guys!
  • Tamijzr07

Hi Momof5 :)I'm also a mom of 5. Our son just left after a 13 day visit (leave). It was so nice to have him home for a while. I was able to switch a vacation @ work so I could be home.We got our Keel about the same time as you just a few photos of our son but lots of memories for him. Take care. Does anyone know how Baily is doing? If I remember she had a terrible problem getting rid of a lung infection. Hope all is well with her and her family. Take care All:)
  • Tamijzr07

Good luck @ school and with all the exams! These boys sure work hard :)
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Hi everyone. I haven't been on for quite some time. We have been going through a very sad time right now. After going back and forth to the doctor, they are discharging Jess for the severe migraines. At least they are giving her an Honorable Discharge and if she can get the migraines under control within a year, she can come back and pick up where she left off. She has been in holding for about 3 weeks now and may be coming home early next week. However, her and her fiance have moved their wedding up to this christmas (he is a chief petty officer in the Navy). She will be home for the holidays and then moving to Jacksonville, FL on the 2nd. They did tell her that her doctor ok's her to come back, she can finish up A school in Jacksonville. Needless to say, she has been very down because this was her dream to be a sailor. '

I hope that everyone's Sailor is doing well and that you get to see them during the holidays.

    Take care my N4M friends!!
  • T's mom

Wow...Haven't been out here in a while myself....
I'm in shock to hear about Jess.....headaches...
Nice to hear about a Wedding!!!!!
    Keep me postted....
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

I will continue to check in here once in a while. I will keep you all up to date. Keep your fingers crossed that she can get the migraines under control so she can go back in.
  • T's mom

Fingers crossed and Prayer sto You and your family.
    Enjoy the Wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Jess's Mom (Fire Controlman GL)

Thank you all so much. Right now in limbo waiting for her to come home
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

So sorry to hear about Jess. I've heard a little bit over time from Savannah, though they don't get to see each other much. Congratulations on the wedding! It's nice to hear good news, but you are certainly going to be busy planning for Christmas and a wedding! There are all lots of clinics and different therapies to deal with migraines. The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville has a lot of experience with migraines and do thorough testing, evaluation and treatment. She might want to look into that when she gets there.
I know the limbo part is difficult. Savannah graduated from A School Oct. 29 and wasn't able to come home until Dec 1. It seems as though everything is hurry up and wait.
Savannah is home right now until the 15th, then goes back to GL for a couple of days to spend with her fiance before shipping out to Japan on the 17th. Yes, she's engaged, and I'm happy for her, though I haven't had a chance to meet him yet. There is no wedding date set yet, since she's off to Japan for 4 years or whatever the Navy decides and he's still finishing up A school.
Happy Holidays to all of you ladies and your families.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Tammy, that is terrific that JP will be home for the holidays! We were hoping things would work out that way for Savannah, but it didn't so we are making the most of it. I think the waiting is the hardest part for everyone. Savannah thought she'd be home Nov. 1, but her orders didn't come through, then perhaps Thanksgiving, but that didn't work either. Good luck to JP in Hawaii, and Merry Christmas to all of you.
  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

Hey all! I haven't been on here in forever! Perry is currently a Petty Officer in Power school here in Goose Creek, SC. He's doing really well. He's going to apply for the STA-21 program and try for Officer! I'm very proud of him. He graduated A school third in his class and he was 58th out of his Power school class of 396 at last check. Nukes is definitely his thing! He graduates Power school in June so he has plenty of time to rise up to the top of the class.
I hope everyone is doing well and that their Sailors are doing phenomenal!
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Congratulations, Traci,  so glad to hear that Perry is doing so well.  How are you liking life in SC?

Jess'smom, how are you doing?  Did Jess get married?  Hope things are going well for you and your family.

tammyw, how was Christmas with JP home?  I imagine you all had a wonderful time and saying goodbye must have been tough.  Is he in Hawaii yet?

Savannah seems to be doing well in Japan.  Last night she was leading training on the m16 and the 9mm.  On the one hand it sounds very impressive, but on the other hand, it's amazing that in such a short time she can do that!  She is doing some exploring, and sends me pictures of the local area as well as pictures of the new dishes she's trying.  I'm so glad she has an opportunity to do that.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

  • Traci (Perry's wife Nuke EM)

    Hi all!  Just checking in.

Can you believe its been a year since boot camp?  It has been a year since we all banded together to find out as much information as possible about our Sailor's journeys.  It was wonderful getting to celebrate Easter with Perry this year and just thinking back over this wild ride so far.

Life in SC isn't very different from life in Florida.  The weather is still hot and humid here although the winters are colder.  At least there have been actual seasons!

No new news from us on Perry.  He's still doing well, rising up the ranks scholastically.  He's really enjoying his studies.

There are over 140 applicants for Nuclear Officer so he's keeping his fingers crossed as far as that goes.  He has a lot to go through still in the application process and won't know anything until October.  The waiting is going to be rough!

I hope everyone is doing well.

Did anyone hear anything about Japan?  Didn't we have one or two from this group with Sailors over there?

  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

So good to hear from you both, Traci and Tammy.  Glad to hear everything is going well, and I'm sure they will take care of JP.  Savannah is in Japan, made it through the earthquake and didn't feel a thing since they were so far south.  But her ship, the USS Tortuga, spent a month as part of Operation Tomodachi,  the recovery effort.  They are getting ready to head out on deployment this week, to a planned voyage in southeast Asia, first stop Okinawa.  She is doing well, though right now she is in the middle of 90 days of "cranking" in the galley.  Very hard work, apparently, and lots of hazing.  She was pretty miserable at first, but seems to have adapted.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

Those SEALS are amazing!  So proud of all our men and women  serving.  Thanks and prayers go out to all to keep them safe.
  • JasonM'sGirl (Ship 14 Div 189)

Hi ladies! I too can't believe that it's been over a year since boot camp! Ten days from now will be a year from the day that we all sat together and watched our sailors graduate! Jason is stationed in VA and is loving it! He was home for two weeks until May 3rd, then I graduated college on the 6th and came up to VA with my parents the next day. My parents left yesterday and I am staying until tomorrow morning. It's been an amazing weekend, but he's leaving on deployment for 7 months :( saying goodbye tonight was awful. Its been harder than anything we've gone through together, but he's excited to see some of the world! I hope everyone's sailors are doing wonderfully, and all of you as well! :) GO NAVY!
  • grumsmom

Hi Ladies, I can't believe it's been a year either.  Brandon is doing very well in Pensecola, FL. Is working in the Internal Medicine Division as a Corpsman and loving it.  He will be home this coming week for a week for his sister's graduation.  Took his E-4 test last month and anxiosly awaits the results.  I haven't been on this site in months but I am so thankful were there for eachother when we needed.  I couldn't have survived boot camp any other way. Jen be sure to tell Nan "hello" for me.  Go NAVY!!
  • Sara

Wow, time really does fly.  And "they" were right, it did get better.  Jason is an IT and is stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.  Yes, he was there for the earthquake.  The USS Shiloh was part of the recovery effort.  He said at one point "Japan won't quit moving".  Guess their still getting aftershocks.  Hope all are well.
  • beatrizm (Ship04 Div192)

mikesproudmom, Congratulations!  Mother-inlaw and grandma in one fell swoop!  That's terrific.  I wish all of you the best.
