November 2010 Boot Camp

We are in NE Ohio, Justin flew out of Cleveland. This is great finding another mom to talk to. Nicksmom is on here also, her son Nick and my son joined together and flew out yesterday!

I meant in the Chicago airport, sorry. It sounds like they arrived at the exact same time. I wonder if it was Justin and Nick he was sitting with when we were talking while they were waiting. They were all sitting on the floor in rows of 10. That's the frustrating thing. Now I can't find out for weeks.

I know, it is frustrating. My daughter has wanted to text her brother so many times since yesterday, she just couldnt understand why he couldnt have his cell once he got there.

Willie had his cell phone right up until his last call at the base. When he made the final call, they would have taken it and put it in his "Kid in the Box." I saw graduation is 1/14 for the people who left last week. I figure ours will be 1/21.

Thats what I was figuring also, I was looking at hotels in the area, looks like Navy Lodge was a good place. Justin had his cell but he talked to his girlfriend so much from the airport that it died before he even left Cleveland, lol!

Navy Lodge is the closest as well.

I also heard good things about the Navy Lodge. How soon would you even consider to book and make arrangements for PIR? I hope I get my call tonight

You can go ahead and book for the 21st and then cancel it if, hopefully, it is sooner.

Division 39 is in the 1/7/2011 PIR group...join there and you will be able to hear from others who may have heard something. Remember that "no news is good news" There are several reasons you may not have gotten the box including he sent it to someone else, he threw his clothes away (yep they do this so they don't have to pay postage) and they gave their clothes to Goodwill. If you called the recruiter and got the division number you can rest assured it is correct. Someone else in the PIR group will be able to give you the full correct address of where you can write to him. Don't panic, some recruits write, others not so much. So get several calls, some only three. I know this is a hard time. Join your PIR group, you will feel better.

For those of you who have recruits just hitting great lakes...those calls usually come late at night and even close to midnight. They are very short calls. There is usually a long line and sometimes the recruits get frustrated waiting in line and don't call at all, so don't get too upset if you don't hear. I didn't get that last call.

Our PIR group had divisions from over a 2 week period so you just never know when that PIR is going to be until you get the form letter. Calling cards are good because then when your recruit does get a call home they can be ready to make that call....

Back from MEPS. What a nice ceremony and I sure did appreciate the concern they showed to the families. I left my camera in the rain last spring so I didn't get any photos. She was appointed group leader! They are now stuck at the airport waiting for their flight out. It's been delayed. They won't get to CHI until kinda late and they were already exhausted. I hope they can get some sleep on the plane. My daughter is gone!

Good job NS on taking the plunge...I did and it will always reign as one of the greatest experiences of my life...I have met and made friends who I believe are the forever kind of friends...congrats...

Just got the letter! Anyone else has a child in Ship 12 Div 037?

Patti - didn't get letter yet but talked to my SR recruiter and he provided me with his mailing address. (Ship 12/ Div 040) He said that I should receive the letter any day now.

Kate...I am not sure if you are going to be PIR 1/7 or 1/14 so you can join both if you would like and then just stay with the one you are actually in when you get the form letter...lol what date did your recruit go to RTC...that might help me guesstimate better...lol

Just got word from my sons recruiter, he sent me Justins address, SHIP 07 DIV 048....so excited, now I can send off the letter I have for him!

Hi Lynne, he got there 11/04/2010. I have not found anybody that has his division 039. I would just love to hear something on him...ran home hoping to find a letter and of course there wasn't one.

Hey everyone! Our son went to boot camp November 10. He is on Ship 12 Div 043. Is there anyone else out there? I still have not received a letter, but I have been sending him one everyday.

Just got our call from our son. He didn't call last night when he got there. We didn't worry, since he wasn't dropped on our doorstep and the recruiter hadn't called, so we figured he must have gotten there alright! How long before we get "the letter?"

Yes nascarnov, I am wondering the same and also wondering how we find our div group as soon as possible.

We didn't get our son's address, either. Our entire recruiter's office is gone until Monday due to a convention. Is there another way to get his address? Or is "the letter" going to be here before then?

I am excited to say I got the form letter today. YAY! He seems to be in good spirits still from the words of his handwritten note.

The box typically comes the first week and the form letter usually arrives in 10 to 14 days...now it can come sooner than that but that is average....

If I was a betting person I would still think that div 45 would be 1/14 but I could be wrong....so you might just want to hang in there for a bit...

HI, I got a call from the recruiter!! My sons ship 07 div 051. I just mailed out three letters... LOL. I am so happy. I hope he getr them for this sunday....

I just got the box! My husban called and said its on the kitchen table waiting for me to get home. WOW I am nervous and excited. I can't wait to hold his clothes...who am I kidding..I can't wait to smell his clothes...

It will come on your form letter...a lot of times we can tell from other divisions but yours is a little tough yet...it will either be 1/14 or 1/21...I am thinking 1/21 but I could be wrong!!

Is there anywhere on this website that sort of outlines what happens when - like the different tests, etc.?
