Hi Cat.. Yes it wonderful that we have each other and that our kids have each other too. Im sure that it is just as tough if not tougher on them! I got your request and accepted. I look forward to a great friendship with everyone!!
Gayle
Okay there was a little confusion on the 1/28 group. This is so common and two groups actually got formed...so one has been deleted. Kim was so gracious and deleted her group..so be sure and join this one...
Yea! We got a short letter from our son today. He is in Ship 02 Div 910. His letter was dated Sunday, November 28th. We still have not received a form letter yet.
Sounds like things are going well so far. He said they were still in processing and would not start PT until this week. He also said he will graduate January 28th and should leaves for Charleston, SC on February 2nd (“ish”). He requested stamps and addresses, guess he’s planning to write a lot. ;)
Congratulations to everyone who received letters today. If you haven’t received a letter yet hang in there, when it arrives you will feel great!
Hi Pooky - my daughter is Ship 2 Div 910 too - we got a letter from her today and the form letter. Have you heard from your future daughter-in-law yet?
My daughter is in Ship 02 Div 910 and i received the form letter, and two other letters from her. The first letter it seemed like she was questioning her decision and didn't know if it was the right one. The second letter she was practicing her letter writing, the way they want them to write. She sounded much better, she had cleaning duty with 8 other people, she wasn't to happy about what she was doing but she said it was better than some of the other things. cleaning the head as she put it. she was on holiday schedule. they start pting this week, she is carrying a flag for the graduation ceremonies and says she is doing what she is told and nothing more. not alot of time for anything.
Still no letter from my son. The recruiter gave us his address and said he was on ship 7 div 55. I guess he has had his wisdom teeth out by now and has not felt very good. I was upset when the recruiter told us the day he was leaving that if he still had his teeth they were coming out, whether he needed it or not. He said they give them 2 days to get over it and thats it. I am concerned that he is having a hard time. But praying that he is okay! I will be going to GL for my youngest sons PIR on 12-17 and then my oldest will have his I think on 1-28-2011? Just waiting on the formal letter to confirm it. I hope it comes today in the mail. I just need to hear from him !!!! Missing both my boys so much. This has been very hard having both of them leave for the Navy within weeks of each other.
41 days & county till PIR.....got my 2nd phone call this afternoon at work. It was short but sweet he wanted time to call his Dad as well. Seems to be doing well a little frustrated that his DIV still needs to come together. RDC have been giving them extra PT after showers right before bed; then tehy go to bed sweaty - Yuck! Please say a prayer for unity & strength for his whole DIV ~ Thanks :-)
Already sent one letter and I'm planning on sending another as soon as I can write it. I know how important letters from home are so the letters from here and friends and family are gonna start going out.
luvthemsomuch....be sure to have your one son ask if he go to the other sons PIR since he is there anyway...sometimes they allow that dependent on far along they are...and listen having their teeth removed is the highlight of boot camp...they view it as a vacation...pain meds...bed...two days...someone waits on them...they get to sleep...everyone else is going going going...its all good...lol...just hang in there
Well folks...I am signing out fo this group...I see you now in your PIR groups...
Bonnie- I got my form letter on Friday and my son didnt mention anything about his wisdom teeth so I don't know maybe they didnt take them out...but then again after what Lynne was saying it may be a good thing if he does...lol
I live on the coast of NC so we will be flying to Chicago 2 times in 2 months. Yes it is going to be a little much on the budget. my mom, husband , daughter and I.
But they are so worth it.I miss my boys soooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Ladies! Got our letter Saturday Ship 07, Div 055 PIR 1/28/11. I too am signing out of this group and you can find me in PIR 1/28/2011! My Best to all of you & perhaps we will see some of you at PIR!
Just got a letter from my daughter today. She's doing ok. Her division (910) performs at graduations!! That's great for her. She was in chorus all through middle school and loves singing. I know that being able to sing will help with the stress of boot camp.
Just a note on the wisdom teeth, my retired Navy husband, says everyone has their wisdom teeth removed in BC. The reasoning behind this is, if you are on a ship that deploys for 6+ months they Navy can't have people living on pain medication for several months until their ship makes port and the tooth can be removed.
Thanks for the picture, Redsmom. I wish we could see the division flag number. My son said they are bundled up so much that they don't feel the cold. So glad to hear that.
Hiya Tamme, It sure is nice to see the pic. I posted it up on my group site. Not sure what div it is but it all our recurits and it gives me a nice feeling to see at least something...
Does anyone know how or where I can go to get the paperwork for the Adopt a Soldier for Christmas is located. I know the deadline is Tuesday but I have not received my letter yet.
@GarettsMom ~ POA said that only recruits with PIR on 1/7/11 or 1/14/11 are eligible for the program and that your recruit must mail home the blue form for you to sign & fax back by the 15th of Dec.
Thought I would stop lurking and finally start posting. My son is S12 Div039 PIR 1/14/11. We are lucky in that he writes lots of letters home so we are pretty connected all things considered. When his younger brother did Marine Corp boot camp we got maybe 6 letters the whole time. Anyway, I thought I would share some of his comments - he keeps us in stitches! - After all, he knew what he was in for.
Ltr 1: "Boot Camp sucks!"
Ltr 2:"We're still a collective bunch of morons, but we seem to get slightly less stupid as a whole over time."
Ltr 3: "Our RPOC says we screw up in a lovable way"
Ltr 4: "At some point I will have to admit that the oatmeal cookies got me through boot camp."
Ltr 5: "There is just so much yelling." OK, so he is a bit sarcastic with his humor, but still, I was on the floor with this one.
Hope his humor puts a smile on your face as it does mine.
He really sounds pumped up! Letter was dated 12/12- he said they ran Marlinspike on 12/10 their DIV did good with only 3 violations. Their brother DIV ( I am not sure of # but assume it would be 39) had 28 violations. He feels that they (040) are really gelling as a whole now. Explained the next week beginning 12/13 would be 'HELL" week. Physical & written testing everyday. This has all concluded by now and I know they did fine:-) He further said that the next week beginning 12/20 they will do the Gas Chambers. Praying for success for them all.
No other news or comments about his knee I am taking that as a GOOD sign! Thank you God for healing R and removing or subduing his pain during this difficult time. Fill him with a wealth of knowledge & peace & prosperity. AMEN
The pick up gate for Christmas Day is the PIR gate - 3353 Illinois. Prayers for all of us flying into Chicago. It will be snowing. Merry Christmas to all of you!
Hi All, Just wanted to stop in and wish each and everyone a wonderful holiday! Enjoy your day even if most will not be with their recruits. Keep the blue candles burning!!
redsmom, are you expecting the call today? If Battlestation was yesterday I hear calls started for some after 2 in the afternoon the next day. Let us know and best of luck to you and your recruit..
