It appears to the the pattern of late Dana, but who knows! Let's just pray that there are not a TON of sailors going to Pensacola, because then they will use a chartered flight - and we don't want that at all!!! But good news on your future IT, they move up faster to Phase III liberty while at Corry Station. My son was Phase III in less than a month, so he could go anywhere, anytime, all night if he wanted - of course he doesn't do this much because I jump on his case about keeping his "military bearing" and he is trying to save money for an engagement ring (long engagement!). We had planned on coming out to see him, but he finished his A-School 6 weeks earlier than projected and will be home on leave one week from TOMORROW!!!!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed! I really want to spend time with him. I guess it's good that we'll be driving there so we can plan for change easier. When did you find out he was G&G, the last week?

I'm originally from Fontana, Ca. Going to So Cal. over Labor Day - bringing my grandparents (86 years old) to visit family.

I married my Navy guy - almost 19 years ago! Wouldn't trade him for the world!

Yes, time and distance can be a hurdle... but if they are meant to be it will work out.

Brandon knew by the 3rd or 4th week, but was afraid to tell us at first (thought we would not come - we live in Northern California, I'm 22 miles from the Oregon border near Mt. Shasta).

He turned 21 six days after he arrived at Great Lakes - he had a terrible 21st b-day!!! He met his gf at church over a year before and she just transfered to San Diego State and has 3 yrs left of college - so this is the perfect time for them to grow up and determine if this is what they want for their careers and if that includes each other. We will see how it goes though, he's going to be on the USS Whitney for over 2 yrs in Italy, so that is a long time and a long distance to be away from someone. Can't skype onboard the ship.

There is a navy for dads website too, my husband is on it. Of course, its not as good as ours, women always seem to know more!

I know... ME, TOO! Yes, Pink... YOU CAN DO THIS! I'm just so happy that the ball is rolling. Each day brings us closer to PIR! We are going to be so filled with joy and pride that day... just WOW! I'm excited! ;)

NavyDads is a good site, but they also come here to N4M to get the "real" answers, because Moms/Wives know best! There are actually several men on N4M and I think they like the attention they get, and they are great for a good laugh. They also help "calm" the group when emotions get high (if they do it right - if they do it wrong, they stop posting, but they keep reading!!!). DILLONS MOM should have her husband join both sites (unless she wants her personal space !!!!)

Do you know where you're going to stay when you go to PIR? I'm thinking about SpringHill Suites or the Courtyard by Marriott.

I do not know where I am going to stay; however, those are great suggestions. Did you have prices? Thanks for the information on FB and the US Navy Recruit Training...I am going there now.

I liked SpringHill Suites, too! Ya know... I'm not sure yet though. I'm going to try to find out if my recruit is Grad & Go or not before I make plans. If he isn't, I'd like to stay someplace with a pool and a little bit of room space. If he is... well... then it won't really matter. Since we are driving there (about 7 hours) It'll make it easier for planning last minute.

You're lucky you can drive there. I'm going to need to get a plane ticket! My parents live south of Chicago so they are going to pick me up and then we'll all go to the hotel. They are about 60 miles from GL so we can't go back to their house with Curtis. I'd rather be closer anyway so it's all good.

Hi Dillons Mom, my son left Wednesday and my recruiter isn't helping me out either. I'm just worried that others in my sons division will start getting letters and my son will wonder why he's not getting anything.

@dillons mom, my son left on the 19th from San Jose to Illinois and he is Div 344.. what is your son's job? I know this whole process of NOT KNOWING is so unassuring. Did you get a call from Dillon? I haven't even got his box yet. :-(

It's a drag when your recruiter doesn't know, or chooses not to waste their time to find out! Please let the ladies in DEP groups know about this now, so they can discuss with their Depper before they leave (especially the August and Sept groups).

I would think that anything would be possible, so maybe things did get slowed down. My son is in the SECF program...so on a submarine.

Hey ya'll....I GOT MY FORM LETTER AND A POSTCARD FROM MY BABY!!!!!! oh sorry...I mean my SR. LOL I am so excited!!! He say's everything is fine and he has not started his physical training yet! : ) My daughter called and said she received a post card from him also.

I am so sorry for those who are still waiting.....but I bet everyone get's something in the next couple of days. Love you guys

Christina B! YEAAAAA!!! You got the letter. I know about the recruiters. The recruiter gave me two different letters to put in back of Anthony's last name. It was not SR. Oh well.; I hope it isn't something bad! I'll just blame it on the recruiter. It is his fault. Anyway, I'm glad she's okay. Are you okay?

Dillons Mom - Nope... I'm still waiting and my recruit left on 8/18... and I'm not all that far away. Hopefully it'll be my day tomorrow... and your day, too! Is your recruiter unable to get you the info?

LOVEUDREW.... hhmmm... I don't know... that doesn't sound right to me. It doesn't follow the sequence at all. When did your recruit leave? Dana = bad memory!

I just sent out 7 letters this morning using the address that my son's recuriter gave me. It didn't have "Recruit Training Command" on it.(He didn't tell me that). I saw that on the form letter that I received "after" I mailed the letters. Do you think the letters will still get there? I sure hope so.

Dana He left the 18th and arrived at 2AM on the 19th. I think I'll just wait for the letter it sounds very out of sequence.

Your letters will get there... I think that the mail system is likely very used to people leaving that off. Don't worry Moms!

I'm out of here for the next couple of hours. My hubby signed me up to bowl with him on his Thursday night league. That man will do anything to get me off of this computer!! (think he's a bit jealous!)

Oh...... one more thing. I got to "skype" with all the ladies in PIR 8/27 who are at their Meet & Greet tonight!!! Their sailors graduate tomorrow. It was a ton of fun. Wish I had thought of doing that with earlier PIR groups. Skype is a free program, you just need a webcam and microphone.

oh... and I started a discussion above with all the prices for photos'
