So sorry you did not get your letter today suwil68. I know exactly how you are feeling. I think we all do. Yesterday was soooo depressing. I wanted a letter. I stayed up till 3am this morning bummed that I still have not heard anything. They will come though. Hang in there. Hugs for all those who still have not received letters.
Pink - are we to RSVP to you for the M&G? I know I am going to be there. That's another thing I am dealing with...everyone wants to go to graduation. How is this suppose to all work?
Hello, everyone i got letters!! Im pretty sure my hubs was one of the ones writing when he wasnt supposed to, he said something about writing in the dark on "p-days?" He said that he hates it and its worse than jail, but is keeping a possitive additude. He also mentioned going to church, which was nice. Said his div. had to switch barracks which sucked bc they had to walk 1 1/2 miles with 100lbs of sh*T! He said he doesnt mind the physical stuff or studying, its the folding and folding and cleaning he hates (i knew that was coming, im the cleaner at home) He said he stands watch at night alot so little sleep for him. He said there are a bunch of cool guys and hates that he cant really talk to them much. He said that is RDC's are crazy!! But one is funny and cool, but the scariest?! lol He said he has to wear grandpa glasses, lmao which is HILARIOUS bc i could nvr get him to wear his contacts or glasses!!!!! Leave it up to the navy. He said he has to have alot of teeth work, which doesnt surprise me he hasnt had dental coverage is FOREVER!!! And he said the peanut butter shot sucked!!! His @** hurt for three days, also he said he is starting to get sick. He also said that one night they got in trouble bc there were too many ppl out of bed, he said "great we are gunna be in deep sh*t tomorrow" Also said he passed his swimmers test, and there were alot of important test this week!!! but thats all i got for now sorry it is so random i kept remembering and forgeting things he said..
Also his bunkmate is 31 from houston, tx and has 2 kids?? by the way.
Well it wasn't the letter I was hoping it would be....she said that things are tough and sometimes she questions why she is there but knows it will pass....she is going off the strengths that I have given her in 18 years to make it thru...she did say that they get time taken away from their sat phone calls if ppl act up or don't do their best...and she crys each night more time is taken away...she just wants to call me....but she said that she can't wait to see me in the stands being proud on the 15th...and that she has met some really nice ppl....but hates that they are losing some of the contest because of some that don't really try....ya'll have to know she's a competitive girl hates to lose.....and they have an important test coming up and have 2 trys to pass it if not they get set back 2 weeks....and the best part was she loves and misses me more then she thought she could!!
Missy - so glad you got to hear from your hubby! My son is in 344 too and he's 6'8 so maybe your hubby has at least SEEN him?!?! LOL My son didn't give a lot of details so it's nice to hear some from others in his division! Thanks for sharing!
Newnavymom - I have that problem too so what we decided was to choose the 4 guaranteed spots (along with the kids under 12) and the rest could either come and maybe get in for the ceremony, or if not, we could all get together after. I don't know how else to handle it! :)
Yes, please RSVP to me with a loose head count for the M&G at Anastasias.
Finally got a letter..she didn't give alot of information about what is going on but hopefully will in her next letter..Congrats to all that got letters and I will pray for all of you that didn't that hopefully you will soon.
I got a letter today too. My husband said it wasn't that bad. He didn't really want to talk about it. He just wanted us to know that he loved and missed us so much. He wants me to keep him updated no how our daughter is doing in kindergarten since he wasn't there for her first day. He said that he felt brain dead from the lack of sleep, so he didn't really know what to write until he gets letters. He wants pictures ASAP. I have already put those in the mail:) It was great hearing from him.
To those who didn't get letters-They are coming. Stay positive!!!
I was like a kid in a candy store when i got my letter, I RAN OUTSIDE LIKE THE SPEED OF LIGHT! Saw the letters and RAN INSIDE and JUMPED all around the house!! :) Called mom, sister, and in laws to tell them they had mail too!!!! :)
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! I just got a phone call from my son!!!!!! He said his division is doing really well so they allowed them to call home!! I was with a customer and thank God he understood and I had someone else help him (hope I don't get fired but hey that's my son!). He said he's doing okay. They are very strict and everything has to be just so, but he said he tries his best and passed all of his tests so far. He says all the people in his division are really good. He says they are a great group of guys. It was so good to hear his voice!!! He said he can't wait to see me. His request: please bring his contacts and white boxer briefs. The tighty whities are not doing it!. What a great day!!!!
I got a phone call about 3 pm! Everything is going good with my daughter, but she said the food was not very good to her, and it was a lot of hurry up and wait. Then I got home and got a letter also, so it's been an exciting day at my house. She said they just started getting mail on the weekend, and that the were able to write on Sunday..
Came home to get a letter and the new IKEA catalogue...can't get a better day than that!! The letter was fantastic. I don't know that I could have waited another day. He sounds quite happy and his descriptions of his Navy life so far were pretty amusing. To those of you with kids in DIV343 - my son's the one and only laundry boy! All of my kids had to start doing their own laundry when they started middle school so he has lots of experience...hope your boys are happy with the service :) He really sounds so happy which is such a relief. His comment on the initial form letter was that he was already homesick but apparently for some reason they got there early so they had more waiting time until processing. I'm so happy for those of you who have received letters and calls. I can't wait for that phone call. Here's hoping by the end of the weekend we will have all received letters! You have all made this time bearable - THANK YOU!
In my son's letter to his girlfriend (which she alsos got today, envelope dated 9/5 and my letter from him was dated 9/7), he says the butt shot hurt for 3 days --- what on earth is that "peanut butter shot" I keep hearing about? Rabies, tetanus, malaria??
Hi everyone...I received 2 letters today!!. It was all wonderful news!! He is so up beat. He said they received the results for their DEP analysis, (written test, and physical fitness analysis) and he passed! He said if you pass both....and are an E1 or E2, you can move up a rank. He also said that his battlestation 21 is on Monday October 11thl (aren't we suppose to light candles and pray for our SR's on that day?) He also mentioned that someone in his division, (948) has a mom named Tracy and is from Kansas and is on our N4M site. The SR's last name starts with a "G". Please let me know who you are. Anyway..there was alot more good stuff,.Like he is going to church (thank you Jesus), and he said that he and the other guys are like one big fraternity. : ) He asked me to PLEASE keep writing. (Like he could stop me). lol He also gave me the name of his bunk mate, and asked me to write him because he doesn't receive mail from anyone. He said the guy was great and they are becoming good friends. I can't wait to start sending out cards and letters to my new adopted SR. : )
@ Vincent's mom...I'm glad you got a letter and that you son is doing great! My son was also in the DEP program. I'd be happy to help write the other SR who doesn't get mail...so if you want to send me a private message, I can write also.
deemedic - we are kindred spirits! The letter definitely trumped the catalogue though :)
Vincent's mom - I can also write to the SR your son talked about if you can pass on the address. Maybe between all us mom's we can shower the boy with letters and cards.
Thanks for the info, Anetrex ... a cold, thick shot in the butt ... sounds almost as bad as it must feel! I forgot to mention, throwing it out there, Ship 12 Div 347ers, my son's bunkmate is from Kansas. We love Kansas, went there on vacation 5 years ago ... great state, and if that's your son, here's a big HI from us.
@ vincentsmom....i started to cry when you mentioned your sons bunkmate and him asking you to write to him too. PLEASE send me his name and address and I would love to write to him also!
Vincentsmom ...I'll send cards to your son's bunkmate... pls send name and info and will send cheerful thoughts his way. This has to be the loneliest time of their lives, anything we can do to make b.c. more bearable, let's do it!
Hi all,
While I was genuinely happy to hear how everyone had received letters and phone calls from their love ones; yesterday was a very bad day for me. I rushed to get home from work, I almost forgot to put the car on parking to run out and dig into the mail box to find NOTHING…. I was so depressed that I didn't want to put a damp on the cheerful and happy moments that were taking place and I decided to stay away. But today was the day for Ship 12 Div. 342. I posted the below pray in our group, but I am so happy that I wanted to share it with all of you.
Dear Lord, I thank You for this day, I thank You because I was able to hear my son's voice today.
Please keep him and all the sailors safe. Help them to start each day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.
Let them make the best of each and every day to clear their minds so that they can hear from You.
Let them not whine and whimper about things they have no control over and give them the best response when they're pushed beyond their limits. We know that when they can't pray, you listen to their hearts. Keep them strong that they may help the weak... Keep them uplifted that they may have words of encouragement for others.
I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. For those that are misjudged and misunderstood. For those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that don't believe. I pray for peace, love and joy, because there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than You. Because every battle is in Your hands, oh God to fight. Amen!
DillonsMom, You also get phone calls when their division does great on tests, etc. My son's division received very high marks so they rewarded them with a phone call home. So it's good news too!
Vincent's Mom- My son also said that some of the group doesn't receive letters as well. One of the guys he became friendly with, has a mom who teaches 2nd grade. They all sent letters to him and he shared them with his other division mates.! I thought that was awesome! I'd be happy to write to that recruit as well!
