Dana and the rest of the moms...I'm not going to be able to make PIR : ( (I am so sad about that) but my sister is going to go in my place. She is not flying in until 6:00 PM Thursday evening. She plans to go to the M&G (probably will be a little late) and get pictures of all of you moms for me. I am having her join the site to keep up with everything. I think she will be "Vincent'sAunt".
Hubby talked to the neighbor and didn't even ask what the Agent asked... how crazy is that? See boy's don't even ask questions... let alone give up information... LOL!
I gave my son a list of family friend's names in case he needed them for his security clearance so i don't know if they went off that or just have a process of asking neighbors, etc.
Vincent's Mom... oh... hugs... I'm sorry you won't be able to make it... BUT HOW LUCKY for Vincent to have his Aunt come! That's great! Be sure to check out the RTC's Facebook page for pics of the graduation... they'll post them on Friday.
T-Shirt is just something some people are ordering.
Here's the link... TSHIRT LINK
I haven't decided if I'll get one yet or not. Might be fun to wear to the Meet & Greet but totally not mandatory.
I think you can order them even after graduation so if your recruit wants one or something you can get it. They might even have them available at graduation... but that's not confirmed.
Sounds like there's still time to order if you want one.
Just a suggestion: Include self addressed stamped envelopes in your next card/letter, send extra stamps, they never have enough. Anything to save them time may help you get more letters and info.
Hi all - I just talked to my son again... he needed more information!!!!!!!!!!! I feel so blessed! Ok, I asked him what day they are on and he said 3-2 today. He knew they would be 4-1 next Wed. He did say they are doing it out of order so I don't know if that helps us or not! I just feel giddy! He told me that he won't leave for FL until the 19th of Oct. so that means we will have the weekend together! Yay!
That's great Pink!!! You lucky girl! So many calls... I'm kicking myself for giving my son the info ahead of time... I never thought I'd get an extra call out of it! LOL... and you get the entire weekend!!! YAY!!! That's like the best present ever! :)
VincentsMom, I'm so sorry to hear you won't make it to PIR. We will welcome Vincent's aunt with open arms and will be thinking of you. Lots of hugs to you:(
Nathan's Mom, I'm joining Pink too and crying with you and I'm at work. Thank the Lord I sit in a corner office so no one sees me. I hope a customer doesn't come in either! That is the very best and sweetest thing to say to a Mom. My son started attending Church as well and he did go on Sunday and he said the same thing. He said it was awesome and put him in such a good mood the whole day! I'm so very happy for you. These are tears of joy and sadness at the same time.
Pink--so glad about your phone calls. Lucky you!
Vincent's Mom-- sorry you will not be at Pir. Will say a prayer for you.
Nathan's Mom--How blessed you are that your son went to church. It is great to have something that will keep his spirits up. Molly has not mentioned church yet. Hope she tries it.
Vincent's mom - so sorry to hear that you will not make it. It will be great for Vincent to have his aunt there though! So glad someone from the family can make it.
I had not idea about the t-shirts...my son would love one! I'm definitely ordering. Now I need to figure out what to do about the pictures.
Pink...so happy that you got a call. It seems like our boys have been there a week longer, so they must be doing things out of order. How did your son sound? What type of information do they need to finish the security clearance? My son's father has a lot of military and Tim's grandfather is a retired officer from the Navy. I'm not sure if that makes it easier for the security clearance or not...
TImsmom - he sounded pretty good, but I think he was happy to be in an office doing paperwork instead of whatever else the division was doing! He said he can't wait for it to be over... but I think that's typical! He called needing his birth certificate faxed over. He called back because he needed middle names for all the family - and he didn't know how to spell some of them. :) It sounded like he was just filling in boxes. My son's grandfather on his Dad's side was a Col. in the Air Force for 30 years. His best friend joined the Navy right out of high school and my son wanted to do that too, but I couldn't sign the papers for him to join (he was under 18). I just didn't know enough about it and was afraid for him. Now I'm glad he's doing this and I know it's the right thing for him.
Pink. I'm glad to hear that he sounded happy...isn't it great to hear their voices! Wow, that is awesome about your son's grandfather. Can you imagine the responsibility? Do you mean that your son's best friend joined the Navy? My son's best friend joined the Navy last year and is preparing to be a corpsman. I don't think if I was put in a position to sign papers for my son when he was 17 that I would have signed them either. It is such a big decision! I will say that my son's decision to join the Navy was his....it was a surprise to the family!
I will say this my daughter was 17 when she came to me and wanted to talk about her future...she had always talked bout playin softball in college and I was always pushing to have a backup plan incase of injuries..keep the grades up we can get an academic scholarship...but when she laid down her future plans at 17 I can honestly say I haven't met many grown adults that know what they want out of life and she was well prepared with the pros and cons knowing that I would have objections...but when you look in your childs eyes and you see the glow the gleam and the pure love of our country you can't do anything but say yes I'll go with you and support you 100% with this...I still struggled with it thinking she would change her mind as time went on but she kept letting me know that with her dreams of being a trauma surgeon she didn't want to be 40-50 and still paying student loans off...so hopefully she will enjoy being a MA for a year before she changes over to the medical due to it being full at the time of us signing....I know in my heart this is her dream and her hopes for a better future then she felt she would have by just going to college....she is my Pride and Joy and she so loves this World we live in and if she can make it just a smidgen of a better protected place then that's her path.....
I got a call too :) He sounds like he's doin' fine. He told me it's really not that hard, but it's different for everyone. I'm so glad he has a positive outlook on everything~
Deemedic-Wasn't that the greatest 25 minute phone call ever! They are doing so wonderful and they did so well on their test on Tuesday that they earned a flag:) I am so happy that they have a wonderful Division that is so devoted to doing well.
Just to let the ones know about the Tshirt orders in order to recieve them before PIR they must be ordered by the 27th according to the lady I spoke to....and yes black was still confirmed as being the only choice to get at the required time...she should have DIV 346's artwork Wed of this coming week......
Got my 3rd letter today from my son, had to wait until my husband got home so we could open it together ... how much self-discipline is that?! He used his reward phone call to call his girlfriend (that's 3 calls for her, none for us) and said he got a 4.8 out of 5 on a test, also said his division (347) is doing great and is a "push" ... the RDCs are tough but that's why the div. is doing so well. I would love to know who is designing their division's flag for PIR, I sent him a letter asking him to get a horseshoe put on it (my husband is a horseshoer, and we live on a horse breeding farm) for good luck. Coincidentally, St. Anthony, who is the patron saint of sailors, is also the saint for horses!!
Desiree's Mom: That is so touching. Girls, though, seem to have it more together than most boys but at 17! Wow. That's huge! Good for her. She will succeed and really make a difference in this world.
so looking at my calendar.... after this weekend is over... we will only have THREEEEEEEEE more weekends without them. :) that makes me excited/anxious!
Congrats to everyone for the letters and calls....we are just about on the downhill slide.
I received a letter today and her boyfriend got 2. She sounded real upbeat and said is trying really hard. She did not give me alot of specifics just that she was okay and trying to make us proud. She is excited about her dog tags, she said she even got to put Christian as her religion on them and she thought that was awesome.
Oh suwil68! I'm so happy for you. 3 letters! I'm so glad he is feeling better. We worry so much when they are not well, but that sure is good news. I'm glad so many of our children are going to chapel. Their faith is so important. Hugs to you!!!
Just so you know...I got one of the questionnaires back from my son today. His comment on the end was...there's nothing like laying in your rack at night and having three or four recruits yell out.."my mom said to tell you hi"!
I got a letter today!!!!!! This bad boy had 2 stamps on it and was EIGHT PAGES front AND BACK!!!! It was hilarious! He is my best friend and I love & miss him so much :(
He sounds SO good compared to last time and is almost better (was so sick and then better and then sick again). He said the classifier was at the end of next week (this was the 8th so that probably happened or is happening right now) and will find out his job (he is a nuke but not sure what job yet) and when he is leaving. He told me all about p-days etc. The best part is that my man is a skinny little nerd and he said
"eat 3 meals a day and when i tell you i pack it in, i pack it in. you wouldnt believe in your wildest dreams what i am eating and the food here is pretty good. (for breakfast) usually have 2 bowls of cereal, banana, apple, 1 or 2 pieces of raisin toast with jelly or peanut butter and a nutrigrain bar! Now imagine what i eat for dinner"
This is coming from a man who doesnt eat breakfast. It still makes me laugh to think about it. he says things are a lot smoother now and that his div is having trouble coming together as a team but he feels like everyone has that problem at first. He said marching is hard and they suck at it. lol. he said they are starting their inspections and "have to stand at attention for hours".
He says since he is the dental yeoman he has been spending a lot of time with the regular yeoman "my age, cool kid"....who is that??? My SR is 23 turning 24
"like my all capital letters? it's my recruit handwriting"...he makes me laugh.
It is friday and for those of you leaving for PIR on thursday (assuming most are) that means we now have 3 weeks and 6 days...which is WAY cooler than 4 weeks!
LC girfriend you are so funny! Eight pages! Whooohooo! Look at you! That is terrific. OMG can that boy eat! I can call him a boy because my son is 28 and my youngest boy is 24. I am so happy for you! Yes, he has definitely made your night! That's right, 3 weeks and 6 days and getting closer every day!!!!
MissUAlready, that was so sweet to write to great grandma! She is going to be so thrilled I'm sure. And my son is ship 12 Div. 342 on the USS Triton as well!
Here is the email response from the t-shirt company
Yes. I can get it to you in time as long as I have the order no later than Monday, September 27th.
Yes. The design will be for the division that you order for. Each division has their own design.
I've attached an order form for you. A couple of notes though: 1 -- I can only do black items for graduation. The shirts all go to one printer at the same time. And he only prints black. The gray items would take 4 - 6 weeks from my other printer. 2 -- the Ladies t-shirts run very small (small is a size 0 or smaller, medium = 0 - 2, Large = 4 - 6, XL = 8 - 10)
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,
Caryle
