My son actually got there on the 18th. The recruits that arrived that day were the first ones to start up Training Group 48. He missed being with the 10/8 Graduation (Training Group 47) by 1 day! I was so sad! :(
From what I can tell, anyone that arrived by the 24th made it into the 10/15 group. It takes a week or so to fill the Training Group.
So... Missy... you are really lucky because your recruit was at tail end of filling up the training group so you got an extra week almost with him! ;)
I am sorry I’ve not been able to keep up with all the conversations – so can someone please sheath some light on these questionnaires I've seeing some of you have been talking about?
Thanks a lot!!
I just wanted to tell everyone thankyou for all the lil late nite chats & everything. I couldn't have done it w/o you ladies! I don't have many family members that understand. Thanks! :) :)
Kaleena - there is a discussion above about where everyone is staying... a lot of us are at SpringHill Suites in Waukegan. I think Dana posted their info in the discussion. I know what you mean about family or friends that don't understand. This website has been a life-saver for me. I know I would be a complete mess without it! Thanks to everyone!!
FAITH, Dillons Mom - just have faith and remain positive.................................. and since you will be there I guess before all of us.... keep us on the loop on anything that we should be aware....
Cindy! LOL!!! Don't worry! That was just a guess going on what Kris told me in his letter that's already nearly a week old. Hopefully we'll know more as the date gets closer.
In one of your letters... let Dillon know your travel plans so he can make sure to call your cell phone and if you happen to be on the plane he can leave you a message. That's worst case scenario!
BESIDES... Girlfriend...he's going to pass! It's teamwork and they are learning to work a s team! You're going to get his call!!! He WILL be a SAILOR! He's made it this far and the Navy wants him to succeed!
I haven't heard when Battlestations is for 344. I've asked in the letters but I don't think even they know yet... it sounded like they only knew what the next week would hold. Hang in there!! It's getting closer all the time!!!!!!!!
This is what I know about Battle Stations 21 from things I have read here and there.
Battle Stations 21 Takes place on the USS Trayer, a mock battleship. (See video from previous post)
The simulations test everything that they have learned in boot camp....in one very long night! I think they sign a confidentiality agreement to not disclose what happens on BS21. It's a very high action night and teamwork is key! They work in smaller groups and some of these smaller groups may fail...not entire divisions. But usually most pass because they have learned the skills they need to be successful!
Wow Stevie - you got a lot of mail for your birthday!! Congrats!! And Happy Birthday! I believe all the divisions will pull it together by the time battlestations run!
Stevie. My son said it was suppose to be the Monday before graduation, but for whatever reason, was changed to the Tuesday before graduation. Please don't hold me to that. That was to the best of his understanding on his call home.Maybe get someone else on Ship 2 to confirm.
I am soo excited to go to PIR!! I miss my bf sooo much. My bf is in ship 12 div 343 anyone else in the same ship and division let me know and we could meet up during liberty
Hi Dana. Dee said that you posted a link to see/purchase the tee shirts. Could you please let me know what it is. I couldn't find it. .My son is in Div 347 ship12. Thanks for all your input and advise. It makes this all a lot easier!
Good Morning all 10/15ers !!!!! We are another day closer to PIR!! Only 26 days !! Just think next saturday we will hit the teens for numbers !!!!! Its going by fast!!! I hope everyone gets calls this weekend!! : )
ok awsome! thank you Dana. It makes me feel better. Where are some of you staying in Chicago? I won't be flying in till thursday night day before PIR. So if his mom doesn't go we could work something out with rental car and rooms. Because He is the love of my life and future fiance' and husband.
Hi to the 26 more dayers!!! I'm curious about the tees? Are people wearing them to graduation? Purchasing them for thier sailor? I'm guessing whatever we want. Just wasn't sure. How long will it take to get them???? We are getting closer.
@ Jessica....that is really interesting that the RDC's read what is on here. I don't think we have really posted anything negative about any of the RDC because I sure haven't seen anything.
The 10/15ers ♥LOVE♥ RDC's! Seriously, they have a tough job to do and we respect the very important role they are playing in our kids' lives. Not saying that to get brownie points, either... but having been a Navy girl myself... I may be just a tinge biased! ;)
deemedic -all you have to do is type out the words that you want to make a link out of like TSHIRT LINK, highlight the words with your cursor - then click on the button above to the left of the camera icon (if you hover your cursor over it it says "add hyperlink", then you just paste the web page you want to link to in the box. :)
nothk455 - We have a discussion above where we've listed a bunch of the places we are all staying. Take a look at that... I'll bump it up so hopefully you'll see it. Let us know if you have any questions. We are happy to try to help. There are several wives/girlfriends on here besides us moms (and a dad!) and they may have some thoughts for you, too.
Julieb - I think people are thinking about wearing them to the Meet & Greet the night before graduation. I believe you need to order by 9/27 to get it in time to bring to graduation... check back a few pages of posts to clarify.
JessicaB - congrats on your Sailor's Birthday!!! Woohoo!!! Don't party too hard! ;)
Dude ive been trying to get my hubby to clean/fold/make a bed for 5 yrs and the rdc's did it way faster and fully started a new habbit.. I love them now! Lol
nothk455 - you might want to join the group Girlfriends/ Fiances/ Wives of Sailors. Just click on the name and it will link you to that group. They might have some advice for you.
If anyone wants to team up with "nothk455" to share on the travel expenses... let her know. I totally understand about the tight budget! Hubby and I have hubby's parents coming with us to PIR so we are out of room and now our son's best friend want to come, too. He's going to boot camp in November and I think he want to get a glimpse of it all.
25 days until I leave for GL!!!!! and I am leaving REAL early on thursday so that doesnt even really count...so thats only 24 more days of total anticipation!!!!!!!!! <3 hoooorrrrraaaaaayyyyyy! Wouldn't it be nice to get phone calls today??
Thanks for the info on the T-shirts. Now I need to be filled in on the meet and greet. Im so glad there are people out there that are on top of this stuff!!!!!
I didn't get a call this weekend either but I did buy my blue candle! If fact I asked my sister who lives back East to buy one and burn it for our Recruits. She said she'll buy one tommorow. The more the merrier! I leave on the 11th and spend a few days before PIR!! Can't wait!!!!
I got my blue candle, too! I can't wait to burn it!!!! We'll all be so close by then!!! I'm not going to get much sleep that last week... I'll be so keyed up and anxious. Yikes! :)
We drove by the recruiters office a little while ago coming back from the Renaissance Festival. My son loves the Renn Fest so I was a bit sad to go there without him... hubby and I kept saying to each other.. "Oh, Kris would like this... or Kris would like that." :( Anyway... I almost cried being that close to a place I took him every other week for months and months. I just miss my boy so much!
nothk455 - My son knows your boyfriend! He mentioned him in his last letter. My Kris said that he was the one who finally helped him figure out how to iron!!! He was very thankful for the help!! So... tell you BF... THANKS from me!!!

nothk455 - There are about 6 of us I think with recruits in Div 343. My son is in that division. Welcome!!!
Mattsmom - Here is the link again. :) T SHIRT LINK
Look for merchantvillesteve's comment about them - If I recall he said they run very small and order needs to be placed by 9/27 to get it before PIR.
