That is just funny Dana, Dillon's mom just told me that too. I really hope we can stay in the same hotel together so then we all can hang out and go swimming or something. I will Dana.
YAY!!!!!! only 24 more days!!!!!! I love counting them down! Here's to hoping the rest of them go fast!! I'm on a blue candle hunt this week. I tried our Hallmark store but they didn't have NAVY blue... lots of light blue and that wasn't working for me! :)
Of course I told the girl checking me out at YC what I was using it for and she said that she had heard of the before. I thought that was kind of cool.
That is cool. I wonder if anyone at my YC will know about it?! I'll ask! Thanks for the coupon! There's a YC in my mall so I'll just go straight there... thanks for the tip!
I got my copy from Barnes and Noble Online like 25 Dollars, its not an official Navy Publication but was authorized. I would send you my copy but its going through the family right now.
I need to get in the spirit and get prepared for BATTLESTATION. I haven't even started looking for a blue candle. Now do we light it at the start of BATTLESTATION and how long do we keep it lit?
I think the tradition is to light it the night they do Battle Stations and keep it lit for 12 hours which is how long Battle Stations lasts. So like 8PM to 8AM or something.
I'll have to stay up that night... LOL... cause if I don't Hubby said I'll burn the house down. :( Hmph... and he calls me the Fun Police! ;)
But since I plan to burn it for all of our 10/15ers... I think I may burn it during the day until I go to bed and get some of those battery powered tea lights and a blue votive holder to use during the night. Or steal Steve's idea and get a blue bulb for my electric window candle holder.
foaling-lady made good point about the danger of leaving a burning candle unattended on the above discussion. Just wanted to reiterate it here.
PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YOUR CANDLE BURNING ALL NIGHT UNLESS YOU ARE STAYING UP WITH IT!
Consider some of the other options like those battery tea lights in a blue votive glass or Steve's idea of putting a blue light in his window lights... you know those candles that we use during the holidays?
PLEASE BE SAFE!!!
Laugh....I love candles and there is no way that my husband will let me keep the candle lit all night. I ordered some blue battery tea lights from online. I hope they get her soon. :-)
Hey Ashley ~ Hope everything goes well on your new place in Pensacola.. How long will your husband be in A School?
I am actually going this Thursday to see my mother who lives in Orlando -- All I know about Pensacola is that is 452 miles from Orlando, sorry :-(. The unknown is always scary, but you're a sweet girl and I am pretty sure you will do just fine -- Good Luck
PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YOUR CANDLE BURNING ALL NIGHT UNLESS YOU ARE STAYING UP WITH IT Don't tell this to my mother ... she just told me today she is burning a huge blue candle is she is keeping it burning until it is completly burn out...she even said, it is so big that it may be still burning when you get here on Thursday... I told her Mom, I don't think that is safe.... Oh, don't worry I have it in a dish with water in the sink.... Well, I also have mine in a container with water to keep the glass where the candle is cool, but I still blow it out before I go to bed and before I go to work... and since I can 't have on in my office I did exactly that .... took one of my Christmas window candle light and put on a blue light bulb
I just got a letter from my wonderful son!!!! It was dated Sept. 16th and he said next week, which is this week, is "Hell Week", because they have another PT test, 2 inspections and test 2 all in one week in addition to their drill assessment which he is practicing with his unit. He also said he heard they are "Grad and Go" unit and those who are going out of state will leave Saturday. He is staying in GL for A school so I don't know if that will affect him or not. I just thought I'd share with all of you and I hope it helps. He also wrote some wonderful things about me but I can't type the words or I'll soak the keyboard! LOL. Hugs to all you wonderful people!!!
winniesam--- not to get ur hopes up but i read somewhere (idk how right it is) but if they are staying in GL for A school and are a "grad n go" right after graduation they will go move their stuff over to different location on base then they will get Liberty (maybe even nights off as well bc they are no longer in BC) but like i said idk how right that it just something i read.
Missy, I did read the link you sent me. So after PIR he'll be a few hours setting up in his new place and then he MAY get to stay overnight with us, which will be a good thing. If not, we can pick him up on Saturday early. the only problem is that I have a flight at noon because I have to attend a function for business and my husband can stay with him until 3:00pm then his flight leaves. Hubby got his flight from points he earned because he travels for work/ Well, as long as I see my son and hug him to death it's okay!!! (LOL)
yeah, and he could always hang with a friend and their family if he doesnt have any family up there sunday. im sure someone would adopt him. lol it all varies! but thats what ive read.
lol, ive read ALOT of information on here. i cant really sleep without him so i just sit up on n4m's and read all i can about everything. i just dont know how much of it is true and alot of it is case by case and everyone's seem to be different. im just hoping to get a letter soon with some more information of whats going on. lol
I'm sure you'll get another letter this week. I spend so much time on here. But there is such a connection between all of us and we understand each other. My son is older (28) but we are so very close. I have two other sons but he is the one who I have had so much fun with and we both have the same great sense of humor. My husband watches TV and I am on here! (LOL!) He's Anthony's step-dad but they do care for and respect each other. Okay I'm babbling on! I'm sending you a big, big huG! Thanks for your help!
Good morning everyone the time is almost here:) cant wait so happy to go see my baby girl miss her so much,i'm sad because she hasnt called or i havent recived a letter from her the last call was not this pass sat but the last and her last letter as well, i know that they are busy these last few weeks the have left so im praying i get something in the mail today.o.k ladies have a wonderful day full of blessings
Good Morning All! One day closer to PIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Winniesam - So happy for you that you got a letter and that it said how wonderful you are!!!
ashley - I know it's scary moving to a new place but you can do it!! It will be so wonderful to be able to see your husband every day - even if he has to be back on base by 9!! :)
PROUDMAMA - I don't think so. Maybe several divisions can do it together... but I don't think there's room for all of them. So I'm guessing they'll be staggered throughout that last week. But Monday is a Holiday so maybe that won't count. Hopefully our letters this week will give us an idea of what's going on.
Hi Ashley, before I was born my Mom was a young Navy wife (19) and my Dad was a Seabee shipped off to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, called Adak. My mom has great old b&w photos of her life on and off bases in apartments and in these wierd metal buildings called quonset (sp?) huts. If you can get an apartment very near where Steve will be, you're bound to meet other young women in the same boat, so to speak! My mom was from a town so small, she'd never driven thru a red light before (you know what I mean, not "thru" a red light!!). You'll make some great friends as a Navy wife, I promise.
Good morning all. Can you smell 10/15. We are getting there. It is in our grasp.
OMG!!!! I can't wait to see my son again and put my arms around him. I miss him SOOOOO Much
