  • Missy [FCwife]

Got letters and Questionaire back. He said 344 has earned 3 flags and there is only 2 more they can earn but the chances to earn those havnt come up yet. Doesnt know when BS will be. And has done really well on all test!
  • Rebecca_Marions mom

Thanks Yamile. I do not know why they did't pull them when he first got there either.

Missy Awesome that you got letters back and that div 344 has earned 3 flags. Go 344.

At this time in 2 weeks I will be in the air headed to see my baby as most of us will. So excited. Hugs to all
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

I came back from FL late Tuesday night, unpacked my bag, but let my
t/t’s bag the same way….and I am packing it back again……… the only thing is that now I am putting in there different kind of cloths……. I guess we will need winter cloths, ah?..... Ugh!
  • Dudesfiance(USNSailor)

im sorry to hear about being flooded. I heard about that.. so no phone call today hug? man I was soo excited for it. its alright I can stay close to it during work tomorrow and then nothing in the afternoon so we will see. Can't wait to hear from him. 10/7 for battle stations is really early. I hear it is supposed to be the week of PIR, but 343 is also the top of the PIR group so that is probably why.
  • timsmom submariner

My son received mail from the Navy Reserve....I'm not sure if it is a Bank Statement or what.....I'm thinking that is my son's new bank. I'm not going to open it either.
  • Rebecca_Marions mom

Well Stevie, I did nearly faint. I'm still upset.
I heard about the flooding hope all are ok.
  • Rebecca_Marions mom

    Awesome Stevie
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

timsmom - my son got a statement from Navy federal Credit Union. I did open it so I could tell him how much he had in there. I thought that would make him happy to know that although it's tough... he's getting paid! ;)

Yay, Stevie! Sounds like your girl is doing GREAT!!! So happy for you!!! :)
  • Rebecca_Marions mom

Dana. Now I don't feel so bad...I opened Marions statement from Navy Federal too.
  • reggie27325

Sandy - thanks for the battlestations news
  • reggie27325

Got a letter today and she got a 5.0 on her inspection but she failed her 2nd PFA (the running part, she is very short). Please pray for her to pass her final on next week, I have never seen my daughter want anything more than to be a US Navy Sailor. Thank you all for the support.
  • timsmom submariner

@ reggie, good to hear that she got 5.0 on her inspection...sorry to hear about the running part. I will pray for her and all these recruits. I think it has been a tough week and they really need prayers!
  • timsmom submariner

I got home today and had a couple of letters in the mailbox!! Yippee!! I got some of the questionnaires I sent! My son says he can't wait to take a long shower, be alone and sleep! He passed the swimming and PT test. Now is the PT the same as the running test or are they different? What does PFA stand for?
  • reggie27325

Thanks to everyone for your support

Stevie - she 5'1" and running is def not her strong point either. I know she can do it, it's just hard knowing that she is stressed about it and I can't do anything to help her. Thank you so much for your prayers.
  • Rebecca_Marions mom

I am so proud of my son. Sometimes when they are teenagers you wonder if they ever heard a word you said.
I am sharing part of a letter he wrote to his g/f. I am still in tears. What a sweet young man he is. I love that boy so much.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1Corinthians 13:4-8 In a letter Marion sent me he wrote this & he says My Bible verse to you
  • proudmomBethann

I got two letters today, it made me so happy, and my husband got the time off for Friday, so now he can come to PIR too yahoo!!!! I am sure there must be alot of kids who will get stationed in Groton Ct, it's too bad that they are not grouped by where there a school is, then they would already have friends .I'm sure they will adjust just fine.
  • Tracye** Diva Rambo**

Hey Everyone! I got the famous Thursday letter yesterday after driving down the road looking for the mail lady...she was over an hour late.....it was funny when she saw the car she was waving at me as if I was just passing her by....as I turned around and got behind her she looked very worried....I walked upto her and said where the heck have you been(we went to school together) she laughed said well I had a horrible morning...I said well I've had a horrible day knowing you were late...We laughed she promised to do better on Thursdays!....Desiree said that BS looks like will be on the 8th and she was looking forward to them...she has been working super hard on her sit ups to be able to pass the final PFA (fingers crossed)....she had a dentist app. yesterday said she had to get a couple permanent crowns...guess I'll be calling her dentist here and finding out why I paid for permanent ones if she only had temps...All and all she is doing Great...they were suppose to have weigh ins this week as well as the 9mm qualification thing...fire fighting and the gas chambers...2 more weeks....
BTW it's official East Texas doesn't sell cold weather clothing.....:)~ Guess I'll hafta go into Dallas to shop...Dern It!!
  • Rebecca_Marions mom

LOL Tracye on the cold weather clothes. I have to do something. They do not really sell cold weather clothes here. I am just outside of Houston. We are going to freeze. congrats on the letters.
  • Tracye** Diva Rambo**

I don't think Sweat Shirts and Sweat Pants are going to get it....Everything I found yesterday that had long sleeves was paper thin....Why even bother...Maybe we should try a Ski Shop...lol
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

You all are making me laugh about the warm clothes!!! hehe.. too cute! I hope you find some! If not, give me a holler and I'll bring some for ya! I have lots here in Minnesota! :)
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

Suwil - when I was in boot camp, our RDC used to let us play "Proud to be an American" on the cassette player... no laughs, please! Anyhow...we would all be sitting around polishing our boots or cleaning scuffs off the floor and crying our eyes out! We all loved that song and to this day and I can't play it without crying.
  • timsmom submariner

Does anyone know if it is a wet cold or a dry cold in GL?
@ Dana, I love that song "Proud to be an American"....so the RDC played music over the intercom...makes me laugh. I think he's trying to cheer the recruits up...(can I say that without getting in trouble?)
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

I would say it a wetter cold as apposed to dryer cold. I'm guessing the weather will be 60 or so. And Anetrex is totally right on... layers are the key!

I think the first part of boot camp is kind of the tear down process and the part they are in now is the build back up one... our recruits have come a LONG way! We have much to be proud of!!!
  • merchantvillesteve

Kinda funny listening to all you warm weather ladies panicking over a little chilly weather....(LOL)
  • lindalav

Remember we live in the south and IF it gets to 30 that is breaking news lol
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

How bizarre can this be?… I’ve been listening to this son all morning in my pc while I am working and drying my eyes as I replay it over and over again…. As of matter of fact I did type the lyrics to share it with every one
  • lindalav

oh remember the wind up there is horrible sends the cold right through you!
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

It is not what you can do, but what do you want to do….. reggie, I will pray for your daughter drive to achieve what she wants the most – I thought I would share the below with you, sometimes we need to remind ourselves that God doesn’t give up on us…..

    The Fern and The Bamboo

One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality.... I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
    His answer surprised me.

"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?" "Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

"In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. The same in year four.

"Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.

"Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle. Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don't compare yourself to others." He said.

"The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.

"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high."
"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest, realizing that God has not given up on me. Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences. Both are essential to life.
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

Well... let's hope for a beautiful Fall weekend, with no wind and a bright blue sky! We deserve that, right? ;)

Yamile - LOL! And why when a song makes us cry do we listen to it over and over? We are silly moms! :)
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

See I just read the lyrics you posted and I cried! Admittedly... I am proud!
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

I guess because we are emotional creatures…. LOL…. But I have to admit that there is a special kind of feeling …. knowing that my son is represented in that song not just put tears in my eyes, but I get the goose bumps all over my body….. Even thought I speak with accent I DO LOVE MY COUNTRY! And I am so Proud to be an American
  • lindalav

Last time I was up there was in January and it was brutal but May/ June the weather is lovely-- are the trees still changing colors there?
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

Fall colors are peaking in some parts of MN now but Chicago is a bit south so I'm hoping the colors will still be great there when we come. Although... if it's windy it will blow them off... let's hope for the best! :)
  • lindalav

I will aks my sister ;) shes in gurnee so she will be able to answer that one!
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

All I can say about the weather is that not matter how cold it will be…. My heart is going to be pounding so hard and that will be enough to keep me warm….. :-)
  • lindalav

  • timsmom submariner

@ Yamile...That is a wonderful story! I am going to copy it and keep it, thank you for sharing.
  • reggie27325

Yamile - Thank you so much that was beautiful. And I do believe she will rise high and achieve this.
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

    Rebecca – that’s so sweet…..that is love…..
1Corinthians 13:4-8
