Okay ladies, I'm jumping in on the ex's. Mine married the woman he was cheating on me and that wasn't bad enough. He moved from NY to Phoenix to be near his kids (who he never saw! LOL). and is too cheap to see his son graduate from boot camp. I don't care. PS: His wife looks like a man!!! LOL>
Laugh! @winniesam...totally cracked me up about "his wife looking like a man!" Nowadays you just never know. I'm sorry to hear about your ex not seeing his son graduate. You are obviously a great mom for being there for you son!
Hey all, got my Target Navy nutcracker, got my gate passes (printed out extras, you better believe), got my blue light bulb (also Target, in the light bulb section not the seasonal section) ... been a good day in spite of rain rain rain. Now, just need to know when Battlestations will be for 347 so I can start worrying a week ahead of time. That's my job and I do it well!!
Hi moms! Am I the only mother who hasn't yet received her grad ltr? I'm getting worried. Every ltr from my son says we will get our invitation in the mail but I don't have it yet..........should I be worried?
I haven't gotten any such lette, either.
@winniesam---are you sure she isn't a man?LOL!! As for your ex, he'll be sorry some day on what he's missed out on w/your son. It's his loss.
Well at least i'm not alone!! lol I keep checking the mail and seeing the post from all the moms and wondering...what if it's lost? Then what? I REALLY want to print out my parking pass and be prepared but I just found out I can't do that without the ltr with the password on it....geerrrr
@ Andrewsmom...did you get the initial letter? I got a letter about two weeks after my son left that told of his address and a bunch of other information, including the password for the graduation and parking pass.
@timsmom. No, that ltr was sent to his girlfriend. I got "the box" but he was living with her in OK. So without that information I can't print out the pass?
@gmd. He is in 900 DIV doing Rifles he said.
@timsmom. That may not be so easy. She isn't talking to me right now.....
@rev. Used too but she is really stressed and we could no longer communicate.
Okay everyone....now what? lol
Andrewsmom ... there is not invitation to the graduation. It is a letter from the Department of the Navy where your son gave you his address (ship/div) and also where he should have written down the names of the people that had registered as guests....right before the names there is password that you will need to type in order to print your parking pass(es) :-)
Well I am confused! He keeps telling me that I will get it in the mail! So that means we can't get a pass for the base then......does anyone have an extra pass printed that I could pick up at the M&G? Can you use a pass from someone else?
rsv227-Devin's Mom - LOL! hey you never know. Maybe she is a man! She's still hidious to look at! I haven't gotten any letter like that either but..........
I GOT 2 LETTERS FROM MY WONDERFUL SON!!! He was a little disappointed because he didn't get promoted from E-1 to E-2 but he's not giving up hope. BUT BATTLE STATIONS FOR DIV;. 342 IS ON THURSDAY!!!! I know that 341 is the brother division so that is probably their date too;.
My son thought he failed test #2 and felt really bad but he got a 4.33 out of 5 so he felt so much better after that. He said he's ready to graduate and so ready to see me and talk to me face to face. That's my boy!! Eat your heart out Ex-husband!!!!
Well I have the Ex from well ya know where....He lives 20 minutes away and would see his kids at a minimum when Des started driving she tried to see him more but he never had time....she told him before she left that it was no big deal that he didn't come to her going away party that he had missed 13 years of her life so what was more...she'd make something of herself and look back and thank mom(thats me)...because she is the one that has pushed me to be the best I can be....now his gf that he cheated on me with well she tried for years for us to be friends....my ole sayin is EX means something.....EX'd outta my mind...and all that other jazz.....Cudo's to those that can have a relationship with theirs....I called to tell him he hadn't written his daughter...his comment what am I suppose to write....C'mon now!......BTW I printed my passes too one in my wallet...one in the fiance's a couple in the suitcase....just incase!
Andrewsmom, You are writing to your son, correct? if you got his mailing address you should have the password to get the passes from the same letter....
Hi, all. I am a veteran mom along with JessicaBSailor and Sobe who try and help answer your questions. My son PIRed in Feb, finished school, and is stationed in VA now.
On the pass, Andrew's Mom----check the form letter that you should have received within 2 weeks after your recruit left. Like some of the others said on here, it had his mailing address (ship/div #'s and PIR date). There is a password in that, written in by your recruit. The ladies on here are not allowed to give it out. So hopefully you still have your form letter!
@diannep. I get a ltr a week. The last couple have been 6 pages which is a real stretch for my son because he doesn't write but maybe 2 pages when he writes. I send him ltr's every week and have all that info but the 2 week ltr went to the gf and at the time things were good between us....but now she won't respond to me. I'm afraid it has to do with the "ex-husband and step mom" but what can you do? I am at at a lose as to what I should do.
@Yamile. I know his ship and div of course but don't know how that works.
Andrew'sMom: Just saw your post that his gf got the letter. Ask her for the password, or can she print a pass for you? Why did he send you the box but his gf the letter? Hopefully, she will share the info with you so you can get your pass.
Ladies, there are NO invitations to Graduation (PIR). Also, no tickets. Your recruit should have listed 4 people coming to his PIR in the form letter. Those are the people guaranteed to get into PIR. If more than that come, they will likely get in (with proper ID and with the approved 4 group) but no guarantee (depends on space availability in the PIR hall). So there will be nothing more mailed to you about graduation.
On BattleStation dates, the only "for sure" thing is that they go in numerical order starting with the smallest division numbers. 900 divisions usually go on Sunday or Monday. 800 divisions can go any time. They usually start Thurs, a week before PIR. None on Fri or Sat (Sat is Captains Cup for them). They can resume on Sun-Wed nights, but may not necessarily go on all of those nights. 2-3-4 divisions go at a time, but brother divisions ALWAYS go together (brother divisions are every two divisions, starting with the lowest number...leaving out the 800 and 900 divisions). Everyone needs to ask your recruit by letter or if they call if they know when their division goes. Post on here and hopefully Dana can post a schedule eventually. If someone posts when one brother division goes, then we know that the other brother division goes then too. Sounds complicated, but it really isn't when you see it. I see that 10/8 posted theirs at the top of their page. Many groups did so you can go back and see the pattern in how they go.
I would be glad to help with any questions if I can!
AndrewsMom: If you take a hotel shuttle to PIR, you don't need the gate pass. But you WILL need it to drop him back off after liberty if you want to drive on the base. Otherwise, you can let him off at the front gate. He will just have to walk a bit further. I'm so sorry about this. I have referred others to the Public Services Office to see if they will give it out, but I don't think they will since "someone" has already received it.
Also, Andrew's mom. Your son knows the password. He had to write it in the letter. If you get the password, we can then give you the website to go to in order to print it out. So try asking your recruit. He should be calling after Battle Stations, or write him and ask him to send it to you. I know you are running out of time here, but it won't take long to print it once you get the PW.
@diannep. Thank you for the info. i tried asking but she isn't responding so we can take a taxi. I am taking my laptop so maybe I can print out one Fri. after PIR and liberty before I take him back? Wish things were different but have to work with what you got....right? So it is not possible to use some elses pass that they have printed out, if they printed extra? sorry about all the questions but you seem to have the info and I'm grateful.
Pir is going to be a mixed emotion time for me. My husband of 21 yrs told me 4 days before my son's swearing in that he wanted to separate and there was some one else. He has since moved to Albuqeurque to be with her and my son doesn't know. We have to tell him after graduation. I'm so proud of my boy and love him with all my heart which is breaking because of what we have to do. Say a prayer for us.
bonnie'sboy: It is so so hard to have to deliver bad news to the new sailors after PIR. I have seen it posted so many times, with family deaths, divorce, etc. But hopefully you can present it in a "we're going to be ok" way...even though I know your heart is breaking. I am so sorry that you are going through this right now. I think it is important for your son to know that you will be ok...since he will be away from you now in the military and may worry about you. If you can assure him of that, even if you are struggling with that right now, I bet he can deal with it. Your husband will be at PIR? Hopefully he will present it the same way. Prayers for you and him in delivering this news.
Andrew's mom: No gate pass will just keep YOU off the base during liberty, not your son. I'm not sure how long you can print out the passes. When you take the shuttle to PIR, you may ask the guys at the gate about that. I know that some of the ladies would love to give you a copy of their pass, but they will probably have their own sailor's info already printed on them...and also, they are just not supposed to do that. I'm so sorry, but here is the Public Affairs Office number. You may want to call and see what they say. I'm not too hopeful because they really guard that info, but at least you can try:

Battlestations will most likely start this Thurs for your group. At lesat 341 and 342 should go. Any questions about BStations, I would be glad to help. Please post dates that you are getting from your recruits! It is nice to "light your blue candles" during this phase and pray for all of the recruits in their final accomplishment to become sailors! BStations usually go from around 8 pm until 8 am. After that, they are "capped"---trading their recruit caps for their sailor caps. They have chores and duties to do before they are allowed to call home with the "I'm a Sailor" call....which usually comes anytime from 2 pm - 7 pm GL time, depending on how many divisions go through that time (up to 4 can go through at once). It is a fun day to see ladies post that they are "on the phone with my sailor". Hoping that you all can get a schedule up.
@diannep. I'm not going to let this upset our plans. Since the parking is limited, it is probably better to take public trans anyway. :) I did text her and ask her if I could pls have the password for the parking and she still hasn't responded. Unfortunately due to stress and age, there has been alot of emotion too hard to handle for some. But we will make due and have a wonderful time and be there for my son, it is after all his day and should be ALL ABOUT HIM.
@bonnie'sboy. How selfish of your husband to choose to do this right after your son leaves. Is there a good way to deliver bad news to someone you love? Probably not but maybe if your husband is willing, the two of you can decide how to approach it together for the sake of your son. My prayers are with you.
I am so sorry, Andrew'sMom. Unfortunately, your story is not uncommon on this site. So sad that all can't work together for the good of the recruit, but in the end, it works out. So glad that you are claiming that wonderful time with your sailor! And you are so right....I remind ladies not to plan too much because that day IS all about your sailor....whatever your sailor wants to do should be the theme of the day. Some just want to sleep and eat in the hotel room in their civilian clothes (they must be in full uniform outside of the room at all times....even Navy-issued bathing suit...and yes, they ARE being watched and there are severe consequences!). The hotel shuttles (actually taxis) are usually just $3/pp each way, and your sailor returns with you (unless a GL GradNGo...in which case you say goodbye to your sailor right after PIR for a few hours until they can move to the GL base--then possibly overnight liberty for them with you for the weekend!).
Time for you all to start the HOOYAHS on this site. The Navy chant....believe me, your recruits are using it! So a big HOOYAH to all of you this morning----try answering your sailor's phone call with that....or write it in a letter! Some are a bit puzzled on how we know????
Andrewsmom and bonnie's boy - I'm sorry that you are both having issues to deal with. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair. We can't always control what happens but we can control how we react to it. Stay positive... we've all come so far!!! :)
OK... This Battle Stations thing is causing me to lose sleep! LOL!! I lay there at night mulling it over and I still haven't figured it out. I was hoping to get updated info from my recruit this week. Last letter he said 343 was doing it on 10/7 or 10/10.
Here is a POSSIBLE schedule. This in not for sure. Use at your own risk!!! Please message me if you think I have something wrong. I thought I had heard that 346 & 347 were having Battle Stations on 10/13... but haven't heard anything about 348. If that's true they are doing more than 2 a night and that' throws this schedule off.
Thursday, Oct. 7 - 341 & 342
Friday, Oct. 8 - No BS due to Captains Cup the next morning
Saturday, Oct. 9 - Captain's Cup
Sunday, Oct. 10 - 343 & 344
Monday, Oct. 11 - 948
Tuesday, Oct. 12 - 345 & 346
Wednesday, Oct. 13 - 347 & 348
Just FYI my son mentioned possibly no battlestations on Monday due to the holiday. Just tossing that out there.......No other mentions in recent letters.
KSmom - You're right.... that was another thing that was throwing me off... so maybe they'll have our 948ers go on either Sunday or Tuesday. Who knows... hopefully our letters this week will have the actual dates! ;)
HELP!!! I am having trouble getting on the site to print my parking passes....any help would be awesome! Im sure the site is just being pounded with anxious moms like me trying to dot the "I's" and cross the "t's".....thanks in advance!
Nicksproudmom - I'm not having any trouble accessing the site. Have you been on it before? It's very finicky with what browser you use - I use Google Chrome.
I thought they werent having bs due to holiday monday... Just me guessing but I dont think they are having bs sunday night into mon morning bc monday is a holiday... They arnt have it minday night into tuesday either.. But not 100% sure on that either!!! Guess maybe we will find out more in this weeks letters!!!!!!!
Just curious.....on the Great Lakes Naval Station grad schedule says....ship 12 div 344 is graduating on 10-8-10....please tell me this is a typo......on my!!
I looked back at the 9/10 PIR Group because they had a Holiday on Monday - Labor day. They had a BS on the Wednesday 9/1, then on Monday night (Holiday night) 9/6 and then both Tuesday 9/7 and Wednesday 9/8.
They had 10 divisions graduating. We have 9.
It's really just impossible to speculate what they will do. I hope this week's letters help!! :)
Nicksproudmom - 344 is part of the 10/15 PIR sequence. See below. Maybe you are seeing that 10/8 has 12 Divisions graduating. Our 10/15 PIR has 9 Divisions graduating.
There's a reason why he sent it to the girlfriend, not the Mom, nothing to do with the father, either. Advise: Believe half of what you see... and none of what you hear.
