I got some really cool shirts we have been wearing around town, bumper stickers and buttons. I got them from Cafe Express they say proud navy mom, ect. Got them for grandparents all the way down to our grandson, hes says proud of my Navy Uncle in crayon LOl i feel you can never be prouder so i even got a work lanyard that says go Navy, people ask, are you in the Navy ?? , then they say oh you must have been in, then i tell them my son is in the Navy. Some tell me they were too and I learn all kinds of history. I never thought that we would finally get so close, im super excited, passes printed, Husband finally got off work, so exciting.... I just wish I knew he had they whole weekend off, We are only staying to Saturday and he may have the whole weekend :( He was supposed to be grad n go.. I tried to change the tickets, costs too much, any idea how to change without loosing so much money ????
Good Morning All! I got a phone call from my son last night! He needed more information for his security clearance. Man, am I glad he changed jobs! :) He said 344 did the gas chamber yesterday. It wasn't fun, but he survived it. He also confirmed that 344 is doing BS on Tuesday night.
I got an email from Anastasia's yesterday with some helpful hints for when we are there. I will post in the M&G discussion above... if I can figure out how! :)
My candle is lit and I'm ready to pack my bags....so it is confirmed that 344's BS is on Tuesday! I am lighting my candle for all divisions and will keep it lit until PIR. I cannot wait to talk to my son about all his experiences!! I was wondering when the gas chamber was for 344, so thanks Pink.
Good morning everyone,
That was so nice of Anastasia's to send that e-mail and be so accomodating. And we are right down the street from them at the Candlewood!
I am getting so nervous! Tomorrow night is my son's Battle Stations. I don't know if I will be able to sleep. I know on Friday morning, I am going to drive my co-workers crazy!!!! But as soon as I hear I'll post it here. I can't believe we are leaving Sunday for Chicago!!!! 4 more days!!!
Howdy all! Electric candles as well as battery powered at Lowes........can buy blue bulbs separately! I have mine, am so excited!!! When is Ship 12's first Div BS21? Friday?
Oh, BTW that one is my desk candle at the office....We are our children Angels and we are to do everything we can for them.... the least we can do now is to light the candles for them...
Ok,,,,I just got a letter from my son today. He says...(This was dated Thursday September 30th) "Our final Physical Fitness Assessment is a week from today. Then that next TUESDAY IS BATTLESTATION!!! It's crazy how fast all of this stuff is coming up. We have firefighting today, our first graduation performance tomorrow, gas chamber next week, PFA next week, final academic test next week.,,,,,It's going to be crazy, but the more stuff we do the faster the time will pass. So I'm not complaining!!!!! LOL"
I thought I would post this for anyone with recruits in division 948.
I tell you what...Our babies are just as anxious for 10/15/10 as we are.
My son (who is in the choir) said it was so exciting to watch all the Moms and Dads rush the floor to get to their recruits after PIR was over. He said it was so depressing to watch all of that and then get into formation and march back to his ship. He said he almost snuck out with one of the families. LOL (poor baby)
Vincent'sMom - Awww.. I had never thought of that before... about how hard it probably is for the performing division to see all the excitement and then go back to boot camp. :( BUT SOON... it will be his turn to celebrate!!!
I'm just in tears (happy, thankful tears!) thinking about this phase almost being over... and I'm so glad.
I think our Battle Stations Schedule might be right... what do you all think?
Got my blue candle too!! Am so excited!! Thanks for all you wonder ful moms for all the support over all these weeks. Where is the update about the M&G? I couldn't find it.
It seems to be right Dana. I'm sure the letters this week will confirm all of the dates.
I tell you what....those kids have really grown up these past weeks. I can tell from just reading my sons letters. I have been crying since I opened his 2 cards this morning. I know I probably shouldn't post this....but I have to share this with you. If you knew my son, you would know that this is a BIG change, anyway...here is a small portion of his sweet words to me...
Mom,
I really appreciate how much you really do care. You always try your best to bring out the good in me, and no matter how much I fought you, you never gave up. I love you so much for that and it does not go unnoticed. I OWE MY LIFE TO YOU, and I am so happy that you FINALLY have a son to be proud of! I Love you mom!
Ok...If I missed spelled anything..it's because I am balling my eyes out while I type. God I Love that boy!!!!! I just had to share that with ya'll
Vincent'sMom, I have to hide from my boss because I just cried reading what your wonderful son wrote. I know how much you love him and how very much he loves and cares about you! Isn't it something that when they are away like this it gives them time to reflect and realize how very much they mean to us! It says you did a wonderful job raising him!!!! Big hugs to you!
Vincentsmom - wow! What an awesome letter! It's so awesome that he was able to verbalize that to you. What a gift!
Dana - OMG, that was our FAV book when my son was little!! I cried when I read it again... I haven't read/sung that in years. Thanks for the reminder! I'm going to send that to my recruit today.
I just hope I don't miss my bf's sailor call. I will be at school from 8am till 950am and then wrok from 345pm till 730pm.. I hope I don't miss it. II hope my boss will let me keep my phone on me to share the good news with my gymnasts and cheerleaders.
i only got two short letters, he can't wait to be done. He said he was supposed to call last weekend, but he never did. it was dated on the 27th . so maybe this weekend or soon. I don't know. I just hope he calls soon like he says. They held onto these letters for a week which is a rip off. they are not consistent. he is doing well. He didn't say when BS21 was. he just wants to get out. He is getting no support he says from his family except from me. I wish I could talk to him. I miss him sooo much!!!! 1 week to go!!!
I haven't cried in weeks. These letters are sad letters. I stayed sooo strong until now. I wish I could be there for him as more than I can now. I sent my last letters monday. I just want this last week to get over with!!!
Ok bring out the prayer robes.....tomorrow is the final PFA for Div 346....Please Lord let all recruits pass...(specially my baby girl) ....What a world wind of events ....We were flying now we're driving...what a hassle with the airlines but thankfully I didnt get taken real bad......so this time next week I'll be in Kentucky visiting Todd's family and picking up care packets for Dezzy.....Hugs to ALL!!!
ya... I just feel really worried now. I really wish I could do more to help him out. He has doen everything 100% and has got no reward besides getting into trouble to with the div. I don't know whats going on. I am sooo worried
Thanks Dana for the update. I know what you mean dudesgirl. Molly says they do everything right and get their flags and all but haven't gotten their phone calls. She says nothing is good enough for their RDC. BS for 342 is tomorrow, Thur 7th. I am praying hard for her and everyone.
Went to 3 different stores to find blue candles & battery operated one for our drive out (as my son's BS (347) is on the 13th & we'll be on the road before he's finished). My outfit is bought, my blue candle is lit & burning, & my Nutcracker is standing watch in my bay window!! Now to survive the waiting of the next wk!! I can't wait to meet all of you & to see my son!!
Well I finally found the candles at bed bath and beyond - easier than digging out the Christmas stuff LOL- It took me a bit to find the nutcracker at target but I did :) I decided to light 2 candles 1 for all the SR's going through their battle stations - the other is for Ship 6 or now Ship 4 so they will heal and get back to their job at hand. I know you are all so excited. I am also excited for you and I am praying they all do well. Nikkis last letter was a bit depressing. She is watching everyone go and do their battlestations etc and she is stuck in medical and cant be with her Division and participate. Its bringing her down a bit but like I said to her she will have her time also get 100 % and then give it all you got.
I'm pretty sure all of our recruits are trying hard to please their RDC's and earn rewards. Boot camp is not only about individual success, but learning to work as a team.
We don't know what expectations are being placed on them by their RDC's and why they aren't earning calls or rewards... but I can assure you that their RDC's care about them and want them to succeed.
One of their recruits could serve on a ship with them one day and rest assured the RDC's will want a prepared and well trained Sailor by their side!
I wouldn't say that he is being cheated.I would say for certain that he's being prepared for life as a US Navy Sailor and that comes with hardship and sacrifice; something we should all be thankful for and feel honored that our young people have made the CHOICE to serve.
@ lindalav - I love the picture you posted with your sailor nutcracker and candles. You ladies have spirit! We are all lighting blue candles and praying that our recruits get through this...that is powerful!
@dudesgirl...what did your bf write in his letters?
Hi Ladies, I found out yesterday my son's PIR was being changed from 10/8 to 10/15. He was not able to pass his run due to pneumonia. Praying like crazy he makes it now because I can't afford to change plane tickets again. He is now with Div 347. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah. and I should change my screen name, lolo.
duedsgirl-it is also based upon each divisions individual RDCs as to whether or not they get calls. At this point, you really need to just go by the saying "No news, is good news." You will be with him in just a about a week. I am sure he has worked hard this whole time, but life isn't fair. As Dana said, this isn't just about individual success, it is also about teamwork. He has made it his far with his division so they are atleast doing something right because they have not been set back in training. It is extremely hard to watch this guys go through this, but as long as you have been encouraging and supporting him that is all you can do. The rest he has to learn on his own.
I have missed my husband dearly, and yes he is in a division that has got to call home just about every weekend, but it was a policy that their division's RDCs had set up. You have made it this far, and I know you can make it another week. Just hang in there and keep a positive attitude because I am sure that is what your boyfriend would want you to do.
@ Judy, welcome!! This is a great group and very active in communicating! We have a great lead...Dana, you are the lead! Awesome ladies here with a lot of spirit. Do you have a blue candle and a nutcracker sailor yet? It seems like we are all getting them here.
No I don't. To be quite truthful I am having a hard time get excited. I feel like the rug was pulled out from under my feet. I was all packed yesterday morning and had to unpack last night. As it is, if I am reading it right, I will be on a plane when 347 goes to battle stations, and I think they might frown on my burning a candle on the plane. So ladies be forwarned, I might go a little crazy this week!
