Yamile. I am praying for you.
  • lindalav

What a beautiful sentiment I have read that before but it always touches home- Thanks Dana- shes jsut getting frustrated watching everyone go and she is stuck! I try to encourage her as much as possible. I am so looking forward to a call talling me she is with a new division and back to work.
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

Hey Dana, I am sure we will have plenty of tears left to continue this journey….. ;-) This has special meaning for me because it always reminds what my son told me once: “A mother is the closest thing to God”.
There is a lot more than being sailor’s moms that have bonded us together and is our unconditional love for our children.

    OK Ladies...for your entertainment

Yamile & Victoria...I don;t think you would be "bothering" the recruiter to make a call if it will help settle your nerves. That's what they are there for. To help answer your questions. Praying for you and yours, ladies...
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

Thank you All for your prayers and support. Thanks for hanging there with me Victoria…

I am so happy for all the sailors that have accomplished their goals so far, I will continue praying that ALL of them make it to the end and I certainly cherish all the moms’ happiness; I wouldn’t expect less from all of you when I get there :-). but I will be signing off for now, I have a lot of work that needs to be done before I leave on Thursday and I think my keyboard is going to break if I continue crying on it… HUGS TO ALL!!!
  • Judy Proud Mom

Trying to be excited today ladies, but as of 4 days ago I though I would be with my son today, so it is hard. I am hoping all of you who are expecting your calls today get them soon, and they are good news! Hopefully next Friday I will get to see my son
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

I am glad to hear that Victoria.... I guess no news are good news.... :-0)
  • Judy Proud Mom

I don't want to bring you down, but I do want you to be prepared. My son's recruiter knew nothing of what was going on with my son until we told him. You can always call public affairs and see if they can tell you anything...the number is 1-847-688-2405. In my case no news was not good news. my son did not write or call to tell us what was going on until 4 days prior to his scheduled PIR to tell us he was not graduating. Again, I do not want to bring you down, but after a week of everyone on navy for moms telling me not to panic, no news was good news, I just want tyou to be prepared
  • DrewsMomRita

Judy...I saw your posts on the RTC fb about your son, and my heart goes out to you. I know it must be hard to keep the faith again, but we're all praying for your son, and all of them today....You have been in my thoughts and will be..Bless you Judy...
  • Judy Proud Mom

Thank you. I think at this point I have to assume it will not happen, and then be surprised if it does. My daughter had pneumonia 8 years ago and it took her SO LONG to recover, and get back to softball, that I can't imagine he will be ready by next Friday
  • Judy Proud Mom

They were VERY nice, very helpful. They can't give a lot of info, but they should be able to tell you if your SR is in the same div you think they are
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

Judy, I am sorry to hear about your son, I am praying for him and thank you for the phone number. I called but not one answer, so I left a message I hope for a call back with positive news
  • Judy Proud Mom

Yamile, if they don't call back soon, try again. and good luck!
  • lindalav

okay this was my experience with my daughter- she called me to tell me she was being postponed due to injury (ankle) she told me at that time she had to call her recruiter also and let them know what was happening - she is in ship 4 since ship 6 is being remodelled - so the recruiter should know if your recruit is being held back - they are required to call family and recruiter- hope this helps and my prayers are with you!
  • Judy Proud Mom

Like I said Linda, my son's recruiter knew nothing until we told him. So there are flaws in the system, and of course it would be with me!
  • Missy [FCwife]

Yay for DIV. 341 & 342!!! captains cup tomorrow.. Im so happy they will all get to put their newly found skills to the test in a fun competition!! :) hooyah!!! And have some fun for once!!
  • DrewsMomRita

Yes, by all means Yamile, KEEP CALLING.
  • Kelly (Pink) Curtis' Mom

Hooyah for divisions 341 & 342!! I can't wait to hear about all your phone calls today!!!

Regarding the shipping of their stuff - Are you going to send it regular mail or UPS or Fed Ex? I definitely want to insure it and possibly get delivery confirmation, but I think you can do that with any of these carriers? Does anyone know if there is a special military rate?
  • lindalav

I would assume then that he was able to participate... good luck to you
  • Dudesfiance(USNSailor)

hope you all have very successful calls today!! time to go get my blue candle and relax with acupuncture
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

Just a reminder: Please don't share passwords or gate passes. I know you are just trying to be helpful, but this would be a situation that I think the RTC would frown upon. Please contact the RTC Public Affairs Office at 847-688-2405 if you need assistance.
  • diannep

Judy, most likely the RDC's did not make the decision that your son would be held back from PIR until the day he called. Once that decision is made, they are very good about letting the parents know immediately. They probably waited until Monday to see if he was alot better before having him make the call.
  • diannep

Absolutely correct, Dana. On one group I was on, people were talking about helping a mom with that. One of the Navy personnel who would pop on this site gave them a very firm warning not to do that.
  • Judy Proud Mom

I know, it's just very frustrating. And if I am feeling this bad, I can't imagine how my son is feeling. It's not helping any that there had been no letters or phone calls since the 21st of Sep until the 2nd of Oct when he told us he had been sick but would still be graduating on time. Then the call on the 5th to say he would be set back a week.
  • Judy Proud Mom

When I found out my son was set back I called PR and told them the password for the 8th at which time they could tell me the password for the 15th
  • DanaMN ~Kris's Mom~NCTS SanDiego

Judy - thanks for that info! We are all hoping to meet you and praying for your recruit to get well and make it to Battle Stations with 347!!! I'm betting he'll make it! ;)
  • diannep

Judy, my son was asmoed (setback) after about 3 weeks. I was a mess....didn't really understand all that it meant. But he entered another division the next week and did great. I know it plays havoc with your PIR plans...I had my flights scheduled and room reserved....had to do the "change fee" thing but was lucky that the flights were cheaper so the change fee was actually like it was cut in half. I'm so sorry he is going through this...but he will be getting lots of encouragement from others so he knows he will get there! This happens more often than you know....I have seen it on most of the groups I have been on. One girl was delayed 5 weeks...but she eventually became a sailor. I had read of one guy who had an injury and was in RCU for 6 mos...but he became a sailor too. The Navy has alot invested in your son....they want him in that uniform.....so praying for healing !
  • Judy Proud Mom

I hope he makes it too. But very nerve wracking not knowing if he has yet passed his run. I just wish that he could call and let me know that at least. This is exactly what I went through 2 weeks ago. He was originally with a div that went to BS21 on the 30th. When I still had not recieved the "I'm a sailor call" on Saturday the 2nd, I went kinda nuts on here and facebook, lol. I then got a call telling me had been bumped back to a div going through BS21 on the 6th, but still no word if he passed his run. Then the call on the 5th telling us he was being set back a week. So the no news is good news doesn't work for me!
  • diannep

Judy, if he passes his run, you will not get a call. It will come after they put him through BStations (the I'm a Sailor call). They usually go through BStations the same day that they complete their run.
  • LindaB(Ant'sMom)10/15

Still waiting for the phone call. I am a nervous wreck. And to top it off I'm getting sick so off to the doctor's I go with cell phone in hand. I hope he did okay last night. The suspense is killing me! Everyone at work is waiting as well. Brought my nutcracker in along with a small blue candle and it's going strong. Oh boy this is tough!
  • diannep

Oh, correction, Judy. Since he has been assigned a new division, he should get a couple of chances to pass it before they go through BStations on Wed night. He will go through with his division. So sounds like your call would be on Thurs. morning.
  • timsmom submariner

I cannot wait to hear how BS went last night!! I'm anxiously awaiting for the calls to come in....I found a Navy Sailor Nutcracker at Target yesterday! I'm cheering for Ship 12 and all the Divisions!!
  • diannep

Calls should start coming in starting in another hour or so. Since only 2 divisions went through last night, you all should get nice LONG calls! My call from my son (also only 2 divisions that went through that night) came in at 2:15 GL time, but they can continue to come in for several hours.
  • Judy Proud Mom

I know, but we are flying out to Chicago on Wed night (unless we get another call that he is being set back, at which point we are just done, because at this point we are now down $1100 in airfare) so would get the call there.
  • Judy Proud Mom

Thank you dee! I would ahve to say this has been my own personal hell week!
  • rsv227-Devin's Mom

LOL!!! Love The Village People video!!
  • DrewsMomRita

winniesam...I feel for you doll, on the sick thing. I have been sick for two weeks and just hoping, praying and trying to get better. Miserable! You ALL stay healthy and GO GET YOUR FLU SHOTS everyone!
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

Well, I wish I would have better news. Christian has been placed in a FIT group (isn’t a division) but they put in this group all of those that can’t run, can’t swim. I won’t hear from him at least he passes his swimming test and goes thru the battle stations before graduation date….. Please keep on sending your prayers his way and to all of those in this FIT group..
    Thanks a lot!
  • timsmom submariner

@Yamile, did you call to get that information? I am praying for Christian and all the recruits!
  • DrewsMomRita

He will stay in our prayers, Yamile. Peace.. and I wish you both all the strength and courage to get through. Try to keep your spirits up, Hun.
  • timsmom submariner

I've been thinking about Judy and how she said she didn't get a call until 4 days before graduation......I can't help but think this isn't over yet! The agony and anticipation is killing me....I didn't sleep well last night....wondering and hoping....aughh!!
  • lindalav

so sorry for you yamile but at least they are working with him to get him to succeed.. he will be a sailor I have confidence!
  • Kelly (Pink) Curtis' Mom

Hang in there Yamile. He will get through this!!
  • Cavalier Mom ☆ See my Sailor!

I just want to share this, and it's probably been views a million times, but reminders never hurt. Hope you're able to connect (or maybe you can copy paste?) http://www.slideshare.net/DepartmentofDefense/opsec-for-families
  • timsmom submariner

Okay, I just talked with my son's recruiter and now I know why he is running out of room for letters and asking me to send him a box (which by the way is a no-no!). His fellow (sister recruits) DEPPERS had pre-letters written to send to him. They wrote the letters before they left and are having someone send them out everyday!
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

    Thanks Drewsmon,
Yes timsmom, I spoke with a “very sweet lady” at the PA and she told me that…..oh the good thing is that if he passes his swimming test and get to go thru the battle stations he gets to march with his division…. I don’t want to even think about the other option…… :-( and I will continue with my travel plans to be there on the 14 and to get to meet you all on that night.... Because I have faith, I know he is gonna make it, I know for sure God love us and do believe in my son....
  • Nicksproudmom A-school!!

We are all praying right along with you.....
  • S12/D342-Yamile/Christian's Mom

Linda ~ I hope you feel better soon….. I’m thinking the best medicine will be that “I am sailor, mom” phone call, right?… Hang in there lady it will come sooner than you think... :-)
  • gmd8622-Ship2Div948
