C will finish with NACCS Thrusday and said he goes right into RSS? Could that be right? Seemed like there was alot of talk on on hold times and while he was on hold for a few months before starting classing up, can't believe he would just move from one to the other, although it would be great! He sounds so positive when I talk to him, much different than a few months ago when he was still trying to leave out of GL after dropping from the BUDS program.
I don't say alot, but what everyone posts helps alot. Nice to know what if ahead and that what my son is going through, some of the stuff he says, its normal. Thanks ladies for being such a great support system!
Curtsmom- hoooyaaa! Hey my B and Liz boy will be right behind him by just a little. Man time is flying!
trishar... he could get bumped to the head of the hold list since he was in BUDS for a lot of months... as we all say ... Who knows?!?!?! No rhyme or reason to us but they have a plan! Most hold times right now from NACCS to RSS are about a month or 6 weeks... not too bad I think.
Cs ---- yippie you joined us !! Told you you would love it here!!! Pcola is a great site tooo of course!
Kari - thank you mucho and check your friend request =0)
Chris... no wonder my boy wanted to go to CA instead of VA!!! sounds fabulous!
Thanks for the info! I do know there's a bike lane over the bridge and that for the most part the city is bike friendly (only know this because San Diego is the "birthplace" of triathlon and a lot of people who do the sport live there, albeit probably not downtown). It seems like 20 minutes is fair for the commute. I really appreciate all the info and help, I really cannot wait to get out there!
Kevin - ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sign of relief that he is done with this chapter of his book! =0D How many actually passed and will grad?? My son's class started with 38 and ended with 9!
I am not sure of the actual numbers, as I recall, started with 21. And I think 10 will graduate. So that is actually pretty good percentage graduating. I will have to check on the actual numbers. I do know 2 did not pass the final so they will roll back to the next class.
Good Morning! My son survived the nasty storms yesterday in the pool, how appropriate! Another day down, he doesn't say much. Guess they have finals next week? We are visiting next weekend 3/18, cant wait! I think he's excited too! Hopefully will be graduated from RSS!!!!!! Hooyah!
My son said graduation was great, and now I guess he moves to another barracks. He also told me his roommate, who I am pretty "invested" in and is a class or two behind my son, passed escapes & releases this week. So it's all good news from me! Hope everyone else's sailors are doing well. Have a great week end everyone!
Kyle is doing great! One more week! He will be studying and studying. Think his class will finish up escapes and releases today, he just doesn't say much. I wait for my "Anchors Away" ringtone to go off every afternoon to hear he made it through one more day! DH and I are traveling to Pensacola next week, cant wait to see Kyle! Hey! It will be flight suit Friday! they all look so wonderful!
Beth Proud mom of Garrett - I haven't been on here in awhile but I will certainly keep all the Japanese and rescuers in my prayers....they are certainly going to need all the prayers they can get. Your son has been trained well, it will be good that he will get to put all the great training to use. Take care.
Very cool video, Kari L...so very glad that we have so many of our military personnel stationed so close that they can be there so quickly to help the Japanese people who are suffering as we speak...
A big hooyah to b'mom...wow, no hold, good for him. My daughter also classed up for RSS next Monday, in Starboard D a little less than 2 weeks...said She PT'd like crazy last week and earned her spot...very excited!!! 4 out of 37!!!
Getting ready to greet my hubby once he flys into P-cola.. The kiddo hasn't seen him since Christmas- we're all so excited! He leaves this coming weekend, but they have yet to tell him what time, is this something they usually wait until like the day before? Kind of worries me! =] Hope everyone is doing great.. Praying for the earthquake and tsunami and all the families involved!
Can any of the mom's with DIL tell me if your sons kept rooms on base and had to "brown bag" or do they just have their apts/homes with their wives and a locker or some place to store things on base? We are heading to SD next week to start FRAC and just not sure what the living situation is...thanks!!
I am so glad to find this group! My boy has a couple more weeks at BC and I have been trying to figure out what comes next... it has been nice to be able to read your experiences and get peek at what is ahead.
Praying for safety for these great sailors. These are the true heroes.
All I can say this morning is God bless our boys and girls who are rendering aid... this will be the hardest thing they have ever seen and experienced in their young lives. God help the families of the dead and those who are missing. This is such a wake up call to be sure your/our heart and lives are in order ourselves.
mom2four - we are happy you are here!!!!!!! My boy is in the finishing up of Rescue Swimmer A school having make it past NACCS and RSS and will be heading to CA in 4 weeks for the remainder of training.
CsW - I know you are having a blast with hubby now! kewl!
Liz - best of luck for FRAC and a home!
Kari, Beth and Chris... man are we glad yall are here with us. We need yall and thank yall for your experience and information! Dont know what we would do with out yall here!!!!!
Beth - I wish we could have seen him too it was a kewl goose bump kind of clip - man I love those helos! Praying for your son... not good times for him, his crew or the world right now. Bless his heart and soul! and yours too momma!
gabby you daughter will be in the same class as my sons best friend I told yall about. He classes up tomorrow... Last name White... Im sure she prob knows him ask her. I am sooo excited for them... and you momma
Thanks Lydia, I'll have to ask her later...she's had the duty all weekend...kind of good since she had so much to do to get ready for RSS, ie. Stenciling , etc. But she is very excited, and is excited to be part of this class-great bunch of guys.....
Gabby...Andy is going to medical tomorrow. I kinda had to yell at him as this is going on over a week and he's not getting any better. He sounds terrible! He said he thinks he has "Acute Bronchitis". I told him that with Bronchitis, it can exaserbate to Pneumonia and will just get worse w/o tx. I think he's believing me after trying to fight it for over a week. Darn kids. And he participated all week in Starboard D like this! UGH. My parents will be arriving in Fl. Tuesday for a week.
Andysmom...sure hope he listens to ya, and goes to medical to get checked out...getting in/out of the water like that...not good when you r sick...they just keep pushing and pushing themselves...which I understand, but NOT to the point of pneumonia....will take longer to get well...let me know how he is...txt with K all afternoon...she was shining her shoes...her favorite thing...lol. Inwas picking up some workout gear for her at Sports Authority to add to her latest box I'm sending out tomorrow...just know your parents will have a good time in FL...when u going?
Andysmom - Momma Navy will take good care of your son, mine waited and waited until he classed up for RSS to go to medical. Ended up having bronchitis one week and pneumonia by the next but he persevered in RSS and will graduate next week! Hooyah! Hoping your son feels better soon!
Lydia, congrats on B getting his helo squad assignment...how exciting...and a big hooyah to Kyle's mom...almost there...
Heard from K this afternoon after 1-2 day...yesterday fairly smooth(softening them up) for ye ole beat down in the pool today...did mask clearing, approaches and carries, and underwater sprints...sounded tired but good...keeps on keeping on...
Ok, so I am going to show how new I am... what do you mean I need to muster?? Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get from BC to being done with school? Thank you... I look forward to getting to know you all.
Andy has Bronchitis. Treated with a Z-pak. Hopefully it wipes out the infection. I would have felt better if they gave him Augmentin. My parent just arrived at their hotel. They got stuck in Atlanta.....go figure (DELTA AIRLINES)! It's 55 degrees right now. I am SO jealous because I want to be with them. I thank GOD for cellphones, texting and Facebook:) Thanks for asking!
mom2four... muster is when the Sailors have to report. They are counted and made sure to all be present. hahaha
Its a LONG LONG pipline to answer your question mom2four... be patient. You Sailor has about a year or more from start to fleet. Depends on hold times. So far my boy has been in the pipeline for 7 months and has about 6 more to go. He is through NACCS and RSS and now almost finished with A school then to SERE and FRAC... Its a ride hand in there!
Goodmorning all! Leaving tomorrow for P'cola to see my rescue swimmer! He called this morning at 6:20 after 4am beatdown and sounded so excited and pumped! The completion of RSS is in sight! I am so proud of our rescue swimmers!
So, maybe I am late on this... But I've JUST read all of the stuff going on concerning the government shutdown that would require military to report to work WITHOUT pay.. What would we do?! What is everyones thoughts/opinions on this!? I am scared to death!!!
CsW....Our RSS kids would report no matter what! They joined for a reason. They've worked SO hard to get where they are "SO OTHERS CAN LIVE". Don't be scared. Be glad that we have the kids we have!
Well I know they will report, obviously, but this is the only income that my husband I have ( don't have a child in the service ). I was referring to financial situations. The families that depend on the money from the military to pay bills, food, etc!!!
CsW - Hang in there and lets see what happends.... If they do there will be a shout and cry against Obama like never before and I doubt he will let that happen. If it happens it wont be for more than a few days because this country will riot!!! Im betting it will be resolved. Im praying it will for all the military families. BIG PRAYERS...!!!!!! My husband also depends on his military pay for our bills. I am right here with you sista!!!
So Excited!!! Going to see my RESCUE SWIMMER, leaving in a couple hours! He will officially be one by the time I hit Pensacola! Will have to use restraint in public.
C is on hold for RSS school, on starboard D? Says the week is exciting, tiring but feels great to be active and moving towards his goal. He sounds so positive, so that helps.
Kyles mom - congrats! I can only imaging the pride you are feeling.
