My son graduated NACCS on a Thursday and started RSS on Friday.  Many others have had waits.  Think they are speeding things up.  Good luck to your son.
  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

Kyle's mom - wow that was quick for your son. I thought they were moved to an area before RSS and did harder work outs before it started. My son has been working out extra so hopefully if this happens to him he is ready. How long of a wait was it from RSS to A school?
  • Kyle's mom

I take that back, it was grad from RSS and start A School the next day.  I think he was on hold for about a month between NACCS and RSS.  Sorry, the schools all run together after a while, he's in VA now on hold once again for SERE and FRAC.

  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

Thank you! Glad your son is liking it in VA.
  • Andysmom

My son graduated NACCS, moved to Starboard D that weekend and started RSS 2 weeks after. I think they work them hard in Starboard D and move them up as soon as they feel they are ready. There has been alot better turnout of graduates. So far, my sons group is down to 17 out of 24 going into week 3.
  • sarahbear

Hello! :)  My husband just graduated NACCS on Thursday and is now on hold for RSS!
  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

Andysmom - that is great to hear that they are being well prepared.

Sarahbear - That is great! Has he heard at all how long the wait might be for RSS?

  • sarahbear

He says it's not very long currently. Maybe a a week or two? We're not too sure yet. I will probably know more this afternoon.
  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

That is great to hear that it shouldn't be too long. Thanks for the info.
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Hi sara!  GREAT!  Everyone is moving along!  whoop whoop!
  • deanacakes

i have a question about deployment. they told my hubby that with SAR he would have a deployment every 2 years for six months. a navy friend just told me the navy deploys for 10 montsh every eight months, is this true?
  • sweetpea4

What ever the need, when ever the need, remain flexible!  You have to be a strong person to enjoy the Navy life. It's a good life, but very demanding! We are all in this together!!!
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

deana - It can vary according to what the Navy needs within his rate.

Perhaps some of the moms who check in here on us whose boys are already up in the sky can shed some light on what they have experienced with deployment.  It will vary I know.  It will depend on where he is stationed, what squad he will be attached with etc....  Sweetpea is right... its a tough but wonderful life being the wife/mother of military personnel.  Dena by the way have you joined the navy wives group also...  I know there is one I have seen it.  That might also be a good group for you and some of the wives there can also lend you support..  Dont leave here though!!  Just join both!  =0D

  • EllieHZ

  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

Lydia - He is in NACCS class. Swim and basket carries today I guess. He is doing good and looking forward to RSS.

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Just found out my sailor will be going to Virginia for FRAC.  A little disappointed because I live in California and San Diego would have been so much more convenient.  Oh to have him on the same coast as me!  Would have been heaven.  Don't want to even think about when he is deployed and he won't be on the same continent as me. LOL. :P
  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

Big hugs KevinHMom. Wouldn't it be nice if the Navy just checked with us first. =)
  • sweetpea4

Wow! That's a fast turn around!!!
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Chris - thank you for the info, that helps!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Ellie and dena you two wives will be the perfect supportive Navy wives.  It wont be easy but you will be wonderful for your Sailors!!!  And they will be proud of you no doubt!  The families serve this country along side their Sailors and we thank you for that!

  • Kyle's mom

Mustering too - Kyle is loving where he's at, currently on hold until July SERE.  He likes the group he's with and says there are helos everywhere, loves the action and wishes he were up in them.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Hi gabby and Kyles!!!  Very great for both!

Kyles, my B is on hold until June for SERE in SD your boy is in VA I think is that right??  He is not worried, said he will be fine.  uggggg!  Yes, he LOVES the helos and his best bud just took his first flight and said everything they have gone through and been through was worth it on just that first flight!

gabby - sooo excited... she will then do A school.. Sierra probably right?  Does not seem to be too many Romeo's these days.

  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

Last week of NACCS for my son.
  • gabbyhat

All right Proud Navy Mom...on to Starboard D...wouldn't think it would be too long before Kyle is up there too...Kyle's mom...
One of K's instructors asked her yesterday if she knew what number she was...he told her that after next week she would be #31(how many females who have grad RSS)told her if THAT didn't motivate her to keep on keeping on, he didn't know what would...lol. She is pretty psyched!!!
  • gabbyhat

    And yeah, would like Sierra...
  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

gabbyhat - #31 that is so cool and yes I would think motivating. Great job!
  • Christi

Lydia-my son is currently in the desert on maneuvers for an extended period of time. Learning a new helo class...went thru his 2nd FRAC for that. He is loving it...his squadron was going through some changes (think I told you about that), changing over from primarily a reserve squadron, now they are reclassed spec ops support and the powers that be are in a hurry to get them going. Was going to take until 2013...now somehow in a rush. Good for my son, he loves this squaron, the squadron is expected to double in size in a short amount of time. So maybe some of you with a family member in training will join his squadron.
  • gabbyhat

Garden...there is a Dive shop on Barrancas, not far from the front gate...was there with daughter last Dec when she bought a mask and snorkel...he might want to check there, and see if they have anything used...my daughter has rockets but don't know if she is still using them, or if they'd even fit him...
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

garden - hello and welcome... please stay here with us!!!  Man my son just had me ship his off to a buddy of his who is behind him in the pipeline!  (actually just grad NACCS and on hold for RSS)  BUT hahah rememeber... he is making a nice little paycheck with very little expenses and he can affort to make that investment.. and believe me it is a WISE investment that he should make indeed!!!!  Swim swim swim!!!

Christi - yes I recall you telling me... that is what my B wants badly... he wants to attach to SEALS or at the very least go to Baharain...  I hope they wind up together!!!  The good Lord knows I guess!  =0P

Well, so glad yall are keeping us informed!!!  I miss it when yall dont post for a week....  makes me nervous and there are sooo many from end of last year and first of this year that are not here any longer.. I hope their Sailors are okay!!!!

  • Andysmom

Garden..I bought my son a pair of Rocket's for Christmas. Tell your son to get that pair of Rockets asap! They are different than the ones they practice with and he needs to get used to them before RSS. My son started to practice with these fins during Christmas break and is now currently in his last 2 weeks of RSS. My son really stressed how important it was to use these fins way before school. I wouldn't even buy used. Good Luck.

  • Linda (Proud Navy Mom)

I bought by son's off of the USNavySealStore.com. Watch for size though because I had to buy the super rocket fin for 11+ shoe size. They have a price match guarantee if you find them cheaper too.
  • EllieHZ

  • Andysmom

Gabby....I am SO jealous! Please give my boy a great big hug for me! I SO wish I could be there for graduation. Andy is going to be the only one of the 6 original that graduates. I think it's pulling at his heart strings (in a manly way). We talked all the way home from work last night. I feel so bad that he's had to say good-bye to so many friends. Glad that K is there with him. You are my rock :) MUAH!
