Well...week four done...good to go...multi final on Monday...few more tests, then GRADUATION!!!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend...the weather is fabulous here in Houston!!
gabby........ Im in Houston...... how did i not remember this... hey do you know where Coldspring is??? Lets get together... how did we not know this... sorry Im a spazzzzzzzz...... okay so Im north east of Houston..about one hour. in Coldspring... Livingston area... ???????
YEA! Just heard from my son. He passed ALL 4 multi's. There were only 3 in the class that passed all 4. They only needed to pass 1 of 4. He's happy! On to Monday's "Final Exam"....as they call it. HOOYAH!
Lydia...yeah I know where Coldspring is...beautiful up there...we live in Kingwood, just down HWY 59, south of you, north of Humble. Yeah, would love to get together....
Andysmom,
Yeah, congrats to your boy...great accomplishment!!! K missed 1 sequence on Monday but got the rest... Monday's a big day!!!
Goodmorning ladies! Hope all is well and safe! I would appreciate any advise or tips that I could pass to my Son. He waiting to class up and is doing his best to be prepared. What could any of you suggest during this down time?
sweetpea... NACCS or RSS?? swim sprints. swim sprints, swim sprints and then after all that.... swim sprints.... and mask clearing at muliple depths... PT of course... like miles and miles of running each day... they really beat them down on that. one handed push ups in non motion.. in other words... do the push up and hold it.... until your bones break... (he said it felt like that) as for RSS.... totally mental and must go by the book.. not one hand, finger or fin out of place. do exactly as they tell you ... mental and text book !!! Hope that helps! Most of the kids love NACCS but RSS is a different story all together!
Hey sweetpea...ditto what Lydia said...all of it and then some...my daughter is finishing up the program currently, and has reiterated that you can't swim too much in order to prep for this....really work on the sprints...she was always an endurance girl in the past, so had to push and focus on those...good luck to your son!!
Lydia and Gabby - I'm in Bastrop, 120 miles east of Houston! Lets Paaarty! We could find a middle spot and hang out and brag about our Rescue Swimmers!
Sweetpea.......Naval Aircrew Candidate School... that is the first one.. then Rescue Swimmer School then A school then SERE then FRS...... about a year and half pipeline... let us know you know we are here to help and support each other... and it is grueling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gabby.... and Kyles... no way!!!!!! How fun that will be... we have to figure it out... okay I know about Kingwood but where is Bastrop compared to Livingston?? Im north east of houston... gabby is north east also more east than me... lets do this... yall IM me your cell number and lets figure this out!!! Im sooo excited!
Sweetpea... my sons story is....... PIR 09-02 (last year)... classed up NACCS early November... classed up RSS mid December.... grad from RSS early January (won the honormen award.... sorry had to brag hahahahah) okay classed up Sierra A School late Jan... grad A school end of March... got orders for SERE and FRS in CA. Came here to see me on his way to CA... now on hold for SERE which will be in June... scheduled to grad FRS in late November according to his orders........ so just hope that helps you with the pipeline HUGS
Sweetpea-yes all the schools you mentioned are on the Pensacola base. SERE and FRAC are in either VA or CA. My son will be moving on to VA when he graduates A school in a few weeks.
Kyles..road trip sounds like fun...College Station, not bad, hour and a half from me....my brother and niece went there....sorry I was a UT grad....lol.
sweetpea.... so far my boy has had a bit of hold time between each but not more than about a few months.... and really that even depends..could be 2 / 4 / 8 weeks.... sorry I know that does not help too much but I have not heard of anyone except one here that grad on and went straight to the other with no hold.. so lets say majority of time yes... time in between... whose getting married????????????? =-D
Hey sweetpea - so lets think this through...... okay NACCS in three weeks... okay so lets call that mid May/end... now that is about a month long.. 5 weeks I think if I rememeber... so NACCS grad mid/end of June... lets say typical hold of a month so RSS end July.... okay there is another what 6 weeks.... so now you are in Sept... hold for A school is also about a month or less so lets say Oct/Nov... thats about 6 weeks depending on Sierra or Romeo...so.... uggg end of year..... now rememeber dearest sweetpea.. this is speculation based on everyones basic experiences here... sooo during those hold time from RSS to A school... maybe fall... more likely end of year holidays... hope that helps but please know that it can be totally different.... all depends on if he passes everything... no med rolls or rolls... but straight through... and even then the holds can be less....my experience so far is about a month of hold times...
Sweetpea, my sailor said that he gets 17 days off at Christmas. I don't know when that starts, but that might be a way to go for a wedding. Good luck and congrats on the wedding!
Lydia is right when she says that you never know about hold times, my sailor was only on hold a week before starting NACCS. He said that he classed up before several others that had been there longer- he is only 2 weeks behind a friend that left for basic 2 1/2 months before him. He is excited to finish NACCS this week and then we'll see what his hold time will be for RSS...
Thanks ladies! My son is getting married. Our families live an hour from Pensacola,(the Destin area). My Son is marrying his high school sweet heart. They are trying to plan a Fall wedding. Just trying to work around the Navy!
mom2four... OHHHH how fabulous!!!!! whoop whoop finishes this week! Starboard D for your Sailor... and then RSS..!!!!! plz let us know !! Im soo excited! So some of yall here have kids that might be in the same classes! Or at least very close... My B was in RSS during the Christmas holidays... It was a bit distracting to them all as they were like only half way through and nso fucused... and then 2 weeks off and then back again.. it was weird but they did fine... but yes... most of the bases go on stand down at Thanksgiving and at Christmas... giving a bit of extra time ... ??? So maybe a holiday wedding hahahah!!!! =0P
Sweeetpea - My son grad RSS on a Thursday and started A school on Friday. He had about 3 or 4 weeks of A school, dunno why they rushed (tests EVERY day) his class cuz now he's on hold in VA until mid July for SERE (go figure). I think the Navy has special plans for our Sailors and tailors each Sailor's pipeline according to the Navy's needs and schoolhouse availability. So a holiday stand down wedding might be the way to go, atleast you would have definite dates to work with.
Sweetpea-good luck trying to plan around the Navy and predicting approximately when your sailor will be in what school. I planned a trip to pensacola back Feb or March to see my son in June, to coincide with a wedding that was happening for my niece who lives in North Carolina. My husband and I estimated whether or not our son would still be there based on Lydia's son's experience with the pipeline (my son was originally 1 class back from her sailor). Turns out, my sailor did not have as long a hold time between RSS & A school, so now, he will not be there for my trip in June. :)
Funny thing about that upcoming trip...the wedding I was suposed to attend...postponed! Her fiance is in Army Ranger & his deployment got moved up. So the two reasons that I was going to the east coast for, the wedding & my son...won't be there. Plans sure have a way of changing. LOL
One thing you can say about the military is the unpredictability of it, schedules change all of the time, makes it so hard sometimes. I know that with 2 sons in 2 different branches having them both home at the same time is going to be very rare.
Ochaos-I know what you mean. I have a daughter that will be going into the Army and I know when that happens there will be no more family vacations or holidays. It is already difficult enough as it is getting just my son home.
Thanks Sweetpea for asking all those questions! They are helping me out too! I am new to all this as well. My husband graduates this friday and will be headed to Pcola after that.
hoooooooyaaaaaaa to the new wives here!!! And those planning weddings! How positively exciting... tho difficult especially with military! Good luck yall!
My sailor just received his leather jacket yesterday- then was told it's not his until he finished RSS... way to motivate him!!! :) Graduates NACCS tomorrow, then on hold for RSS.

Yes, all 3 schools are at Pensacola, different buildings and the Sailors move to different barracks for each schoolhouse.
Lydia and Gabby, College Station is kinda in the middle of us, we could meet there! My daughters were Aggies.
