Kyles....  I understand!  Been there done this....  he will be stellar!

  • rakkruse

Hi all. I am new to the site and a little "ahead". My son is just now going through ACCS. But god willing all will go well and in a few months he'll be a rescue swimmer. I'd love to hear about others experience! Especially any information about attending RSS graduation.
  • rakkruse

Any Moms out there with kids currently going through ACCS at NAS Pensacola?
  • wendypcolamom

rakkruse - my son's PIR is 8/5 and his contract is rescue swimmer.  Sounds like we're right behind you.
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

rakkruse -  and wendy - WELCOME WELCOME!!    This is right where yall need to be..........have you read up in the discussion area up above here... The Path of a Rescue Swimmer........  It is loaded with info for you - so please go and read...  rakkruse it takes more that just a few months - for most that pass all the classifications it take up to two years / 18 months   ... it is a LONG pipeline with challenges but hang in there... thats why we are all here.

My son B is almost through the pipeline... He has about 4 months left.  He is finished with NACCS, RSS, Sierra A school and SERE...  now he is in FRS.. which for him is the end of the pipe line!  whoooo hooooo....

Anyway yall check up there in the discussion forum above this box .... and read the Path...

We have brand new moms/wives on here and moms whose boy are already up in the helos so you will get lots of info here or just mental support hahahah  - trust me you will need it!  =0P

  • Mama B

Hello rakkruse -  my son just graduated from NACCS two wks ago and is currently in Starboard D, which prepares them for RSS. I also would like to attend my sons RSS graduation but with the attrition rate I have no plans to lock in to anything just yet.

Maybe our sons will run into each other being so close in the "pipeline". He's known as "License plate boy" (long story, you can find out why a few pages back) EVERYONE knows him!!

Quick side note- my son got voluntold yesterday to be a survivor for a current RSS class. His 17yr old brother was at the airport, having flown in around 1:30 and knowing J would be there shortly after 2.  His survivor thingy lasted till after 4:30pm. He ran back to his room to get his keys to the airport and to his surprise his roomates had gone to the airport and picked his brother up for him. How awesome, now thats a brotherhood to be proud of!!

  • TexasMomof2

WOW!  Welcome to all the new loved ones!  My son is through the pipeline, out the end and with his squadron.  He arrived in Pensacola 9/3/09 and finished with all his schools/training on 5/15/11.  Well, I shouldn't say "finished" because now he's training with his new squadron with things that are specific to that squadron.  You will hear that training never ends.

MamaB, that is so SWEET that they picked up his brother and yes, they are a very tight brotherhood.  Kinda like our sisterhood The Cult ya know?

How was it being a survivor?  He had to fight didn't he?

  • Andysmom

I think it's going alot faster. My son's PIR date was 11-5-10. He is going to be finishing his last 2 weeks of Sierra A-school, so he's only been in for 9 months. He has already received orders for San Diego. So hopefully when he goes back to the MD in 3 weeks, the wrist is healed and he can head west. He is SO looking forward to a visit home. FYI> Good Luck with chit requests. My son has missed 2 chances to come home because chit requests have been delayed until the airline costs were so high, it was too expensive. Only time he was home was for a short Christmas visit.
  • April

Happy Friday Everyone!  My husband is in Starboard D and was a "survivor" yesterday too!
  • TexasMomof2

Here's to those "survivors!"  It's a great time for them to look and learn because they themselves will be doing "escapes and releases."  This is one of the most difficult exercises from what I heard.  It's when the swimmer goes to rescue and that person is so intent on surviving that they grab onto the swimmer.  We had this happen just yesterday here at our lake.  A 19 yr old went in to save a 14-yr old....the rescuer didn't survive.
  • Christi

MamaB-sure warms the heart to hear that the roomies would go pick up the brother for him. So sweet!

To all others-my son is already in squadron and has been training in the not so new HH-60H helo. Found this pic today and am so proud. Not sure he's on this one but it's only one of two this squadron has currently and he flies all the time. This is the HSC85 squadron:

  • rakkruse

MamaB - thank you! Can you give your son's name? I'm not sure what opsec rules are on that. I can check to see if my son might know him! It is so great to have this "family". The Great Lakes facebook page was my lifeline while my son was in boot camp so it's great to have found this!
  • NavymomGG

Hello Lydia, Hello All...I haven't been on in quite awhile except to see that R was taking his finals last week and I contacted his mom to let her know he was in my prayers...I was sooo happy when she txtd me to say he passed...My son is right behind him in 1114..Does anyone else have a loved one in that group? This week was very stressful(for me and him..lol..) but he made it through and is preparing for finals next week...I think I just about qualify to become a nun at this point with all the prayers I have been saying for them all...hahahaha...If anyone can spare a few for my C and his buddies, it would be greatly appreciated...I am excited for all the moms and loved ones of those going through this journey...the way everyone cares about each other is so comforting...My husband and I went down to Pens. last month and we met a number of guys in the RSS housing...they were all precious...what a beautiful bunch of souls...they were so tightly connected and genuinely interested in the welfare of each other...Lydia, R had been sleeping but he came out to say Hi to us and it was so adorable..he looked like a sleepy head and he went up to one of the other guys and the other guy hugged him and comforted him..it was priceless...These unbelievably strong, determined, courageous young men yet as gentle as can be...they are truly bright lights in our lives...Sending good wishes to all...
  • mom2four

Navymom, my sailor is in RSS 1114!  Friend me and we can share names... :)

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Woooow - Im gone for a day and this place is HOPPING!!!

Hi ChrisAmo - that is a sigh!!!  =0(

NavymomG - awe baaahahahahaha - that is too funny about R...  hehehe  I know he is still recouping from passing RSS by the skin of his teeth!  God love him!

Mom24 and Navymom - I also think that I know a sista whose boy is in 1114 - she has not spoken to him in a while so I can find out for sure but when I do Ill share his name via IM also!

rakk - someone had posted those rules at one time... I need to find those to share here ...  Did yall read the Path up there above in the discussion forum?  Well, also - just easy to rememeber that THIS IS NOT A PRIVATE SITE... EVEN TERRORISTS CAN JOIN THIS SITE AND YOU MIGHT NEVER KNOW SO - ANYTHING YOU DO NOT WANT THEM TO KNOW..... DO NOT POST...  FULL NAMES OR PHOTOS WITH THEIR NAMES ON THEIR UNIFORMS OR INFORMATION ON WHEREABOUTS OF THE FLEET etc....   I alway check my setting on here and Face book about once a month to make sure that they are still guarded and Friends only....   Hope that helps a little sista!  =0P

Christi - HI sister... wooooooow that gives me super goose bumps!!!!!  GREAT picture.. where did you find it????

Hi Andes - great he will be SD where my boy is!!  He loves it out there!  There are some pretty good hold times out there tooo but at least he is past the worse of the attrition... now its just study study study and get her done~!   hahaha!

Kyles - Im praying for your boy "Out there in the Woods"  Now come the hard week!  Hang in there - he will be stellar Im sure!   Im sure my son must know your son... They are all so tight out there too.

Navywife - Yes survivor gives a little insite into what they have ahead.  Usually it is the Buddy Tow that they help with.

MammaB - awe that is sooooooooooooo kewl!  They truly are a brotherhood.

Texas - omg that is sooo sad.  And yes we are a sisterhood hahahahahaha

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Andysmom-very sweet tribute.  My son and daughter never had a super close relationship, but since leaving for boot camp, they both have come to realize how much they mean to each other.  My son will not be able to come home for his sister's wedding in 3 weeks, and she cried when she found out.
  • Christi

Lydia, found that pic on FB. Navy posted it as one of the photos of the week. Talked to my son, he says he could be on the helo but doesn't remember any photogs around at that time. Thought it was a cool pic.
  • Mama B

Andysmom- enjoyed your daughters video to her brother. I called my 12 yr old daughter to watch with me and she could TOTALLY relate to what your she was feeling. Thanks for sharing!!

Hey hey yall......   dang... whats up... so quiet suddenly... well... I gotta momma prayer request....   anyone ever had a UTI....  oh man you know the movie The Green Mile... Oh yes... glass and razor blades here!  uggggggggggggg.... but wanted to tell yall that my boy called and said he is tied for top test scores in his FRS class..   whooop whoooop.... bragging rights we all have them  hahahah!

How all our other boys and girls (hubbys too)???????

  • Mama B

Hey Lydia thats great about your boy being tied for top test scores, and not so great to hear you're dealing with a very uncomfortable UTI. We'll say a prayer for it to pass by quickly and that your feeling 100% soon. Hang in there.........

Do you think that boy of yours has any idea just how proud he makes his mama!!

  • NavyWife10

Ochaos- my husband is in that class. They know each other =). We've all hung out a few times. 3 more weeks and we'll be done with RSS. =)
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

MamaB - I think he knows cause I tell him every day and post it all over his Face Book hahahahahah!!  Whats new with your Boy...

The3Cs - light at the end of the tunnel  whoop whoop!

  • Mama B

Well the harassment has settled a biit, except when they wanted to give him a chit for "sleeping in the water" when he was told to play dead in the water. Anyway they found a new victim to harass, a new guy to starboard D that was caught talking on his phoned while walking across the QuarterDeck.
  • NavymomGG

Thank you for those who answered my prayer request for my son in 1114 RSS...Just got the call that he will be graduating on Thursday..HOORAAA..is that how we say it? I am so excited and relieved that I can barely think straight...lol..Lydia...will say prayers for your UTI, I've heard they are awful...Congrats to B...he is amazing !!  Sending good wishes to all those in Starboard D, those already in RSS and their families...it's a wild ride...

Any chance anyone will be at the graduation this Thursday??? Wishing I could be there to take pictures but it's not possible.....

  • ILNavyMom

Anyone know which storage rental is closer to the Pensacola base?
  • mom2four

Hi everyone!  Need some happy thoughts... my sailor just got rolled back a class for as he put it- a silly mistake.  He is really down today.  Hope everyone else is having a great week and congrats to NavymomGG's boy!!
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

NavymomGG - SUPER GREAT  whooooop whoooop!!!!  Go 1114!     hoooooyaaa

ILNavy - you might want to ask over on the Pensacola site... lots of them live there in Pcola ... sorry I cant help...  They will know... Robin or Jacquilin or Marine

mom2four......hang in there sister!  This happened to my buddies boy just last month and he had to roll too....  silly mistakes they dont tolerate...  Ill bet he will come back rocking!!!!!  And we will be praying!!!!   Oh this is such a hard pipeline... I thought after boot camp it would get better ...  NOPE!!!!  so prayers for your boy!!!!!!!!!

  • Mama B

mom2four- Sorry to hear your son got rolled back. Our boys have been talking and your sons been givin mine some pointers. Glad they have each other. Don't worry about him passing, just stay down on your knees!!  : )
  • NavymomGG

mom2four I'm so sorry for the disappointment you and your son are experiencing...my son had been rolled for medical when he got pneumonia and then again when he failed for a minor mistake...it was so frustrating for him because it was something he knew well but didin't even realize until it was too late that he forgot a step...this was his last chance which made it that much more stressful...he is friends with Lydia's "adopted son" R and he agonized over him rolling back too...it is so hard on them and on us too...they work so hard and go through so much...I don't know if it was your son but my son said that one of the guys got rolled but he is really good and he's sure he'll make it through...I was so upset about it and my guy was reassuring me...your son knows what to expect now and that should help him know how to prepare...I will continue to send good wishes and prayers for you both...
  • mom2four

You ladies are AWESOME!  Thank you for the kind words...I know he will be fine, I only wish I was closer and could give him a pep talk in person, but this too shall pass. I did tell him that I knew some great 1115 mommies! :)  Always gotta find the silver lining.
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

These guys are truly a brotherhood so believe me mom2four He is getting lots of pep talks from his brothers and Im sure he will do fine!

    HUGS everyone!

  • ILNavyMom

my son headed to Pensacola, reporting 8/15
  • TexasMomof2

Mom2four, your son rocks and will continue to do so - no worries!  You tell him this....positive positive positive!  ILNavyMom, yay on his way!
  • mom2four

Whew!  What a difference a day makes... he is sad not to be with the friends he made, but is ok with some other things that are ahead.  Thanks all!
  • CaliMom (Maryann)

mom2four-glad your son is doing OK with this new development in his naval journey.  My son too was rolled out of the class that he really loved and with buddies he had been with for a long time.  Turns out, that if he had stayed with the original class, he would have been romeo platform and he really wanted Sierra. By rolling back, he was put in a class that was assigned to a Sierra platform.  And he made great friends with his new class.  All of this reminded my son that even though he had an idea in his mind of how things ought to go, GOD had his own plan, and it is perfect.
  • mom2four

Kevin's mom-that's kinda what he's hoping will happen... and yes, HE is totally in control, not us.  We were laughing because being a swim coach's kid, it was funny that CPR is what got him... silly kid. :)  All is good.
  • Kyle's mom

Good morning all! - prayer request here! Son goes out to the underground up in Maine today! Gotta get my blue candles going!
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Kyles - prayers going up sista!

mom2four-- super that he is positive and ready!

IL - woow it wont be long!!!!  counting down the days Im sure!!!  I rememeber..  My son was 09-02-10  so just about a year ago he was heading there as well.  Now just 4 months to go in his pipeline!  whew!  =0)

  • sailormom

My son has been on ship 5 since June 3rd. He was denied his medical waiver for Rescue Swimmer.  He is disappointed, but is able to stay in the Navy. He is now going to be an Aviation Electronics Technician. Sometimes , things don't turn out the way we want them, but I believe God is ultimately in control and had different plans for him at this time. Maybe in the future he can try again. So thank you all for your support and good luck with everything.
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

sailormom... Im with you... right time right place right reason.. who knows... God does!  Please come and tell us how he is progressing!  Hey and that is a GREAT rate for him too!  super kewl schooling there
  • sailormom

Thank you Lydia For B- The Sea is Ours-  I will let you know how it all goes.  He is happy with what he is going to do at this time, because he really wants to be in the Navy and would have been heart broken if he was sent home

  • April

I just found out my hubby classed up :) He will start RSS on monday!  Class 1116...any of your sailors in that group?
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

NavyWife... now is the time to start praying hahah!!!  We got your back sweetie... Just remember that he MUST stay focused on his classes and studying after class...  so if he does not communicate too much with you do not be concerned...

sailormom.....  kewl  he sounds like a GREAT asset to the Navy
