Lydia...thanks for sharing those pictures!  They are great!
  • Andysmom

Maryann, He got orders for SanDiego. At the present, he's graduating Sierra A-School this week and is on medical hold for his broken wrist. MD's MRI said it started healing on it's own so they casted it 5 weeks ago. He goes back next week for a cast removal and another x-ray. Hopefully it is healed! He is coming home on a week visit and then it's all up the the MD's as far as when he will be totally medically healed. My heart goes out to the familys that lost their son's in the bombing. So SAD :(
  • NavymomGG

WOW Lydia..absolutely amazing !!!  Very exciting to see what the future holds..I can't believe how B has matured from his BC grad. picture...Your baby is getting older in leaps and bounds..lol....Thank you for sharing... Whenever I see things like the rainbow in the picture it makes me feel like it is a sign that everything is as it should be and all is well....

I don't know about everyone else but I have been very affected by the recent casualties of SEAL team 6...so many mixed emotions of pride and sadness...such is the life of those in the military and their families...it still feels surreal to me sometimes...sending Love and Prayers for All......

  • wendypcolamom

Hi all!  I have a question.  My son just finished with boot camp and is now in Pensacola.  Will he go to A school first and then Rescue Swimmer school?  Just curious how this all works.
  • Mama B

Welcome Wendy!! What an exciting time for your son, you can find out a lot of good info just above this comment area in the Discussion Forum (path of a rescue swimmer).  If you have any further questions don"t hesitate to ask.

  • NavymomGG

Hi Wendy...Welcome...every sailor has an individual experience but the info above is great...there are alot of things that can come up to intercept their progress at any time but generally there is a main line of events...one of the first things they do is to phase up..when they first get to pensacola they are in phase one and they want to ultimately get to phase 3...usually over a few weeks..it just gives them more freedom...their A school comes after they graduate Rescue Swimmer School so it is actually at the end of their "stay" in pensacola...
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Welcome Wendy... hoooyaaaa....  just starting on his pipeline and you on a roller coaster hahah... we are here for you 100%.  Yes Mama said ... please go up and read the Path that will answer so much for you and also what Navymom said... it can be different for each one... but basically... that will give you the outline!!!!!  so happy you are here... be sure to tell your other PIR RSS moms/gfs/dads to join us... otherwise you will go crazy!!!  And no two candidate schools come first... NACCS and RSS.... attrition rate of 75% so you will need to do lots of praying and he will need to be focused BIG time and patient....  read that and let us know what else we can help you with... we are here each day!!!!!!!
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

  • April

Welcome Wendy!!!  This page has helped me out a lot!  I learned so much from all these ladies.  They offer such useful advise and words of wisdom!  WELCOME!!!

Hubby passed his escapes and releases!  So proud.  His is almost finished with second week of RSS.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

NavyWife... man he is on his way then cause that is the one that fails the most kids!  hooooooyaaaaaa!!!!!  After week three they say that that is about all the DORs and Fails and that will pretty much be the graduating team.  Of course a few might fail the final but not too many...  So one more week for him and he should be on his way !!!!!!!
  • rakkruse

Welcome Wendy!! My son just completed Aircrew Candidate School and is waiting to class up to RSS.  He had a bunk mate at Great Lakes who was a good friend and just arriving at Pensacola.  Wondering if it could be your son.  When was his PIR?  These ladies are all right - this sight and this group are amazing.  Keeping "in the loop" about what your son is going through is a life saver.  My son teases me that I am the most informed navy mom ever!

  • rakkruse

By the way, ladies, Lydia B found me  - yeah!!  I am so glad to have found this group!
  • Mama B

BOO-HISS J failed one of his escapes and releases. Will try again tomorrow, PRAY LADIES, PRAY !!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Mama B

Happy for your J NavyWife, we always ask how he's doing when we talk to our J.  I'm sure they're going over what he missed in their room right now ( that is if he's not with you) hehehehe
  • ochaos

    MamaB - any news yet????

Texas - wooow what a great but challenging job you have sister.. thank you for taking care of our special kids!!!

NavyWife... so glad they are together!

Navymom - hoooyaaaa I so agree!!!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

MamaB - you are worring me... not hearing from you yesterday make me hope that he did okay on the re-test??????
  • NavymomGG

Hello All...just reporting some good news..my sailor classed up today..starts A school on Monday...also had to requalify for phase 3...all good...

also..when the guys fail the escape and release (is that what it's called) Im pretty sure they get rolled back a week and they redo that week and then get to retake the exam...I dont know if that is always the case but might be the situation with Mama's son...still sending good wishes and prayers for all...

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Navymom... He will be with my buddys buddy R - he starts Monday tooo.  But then you probably know that hahahaha

Yes if they fail they just roll back and get a second chance... Im worried cause she has not posted !!!!

MamaB --- come back... we will help you through what ever you are going through.  Lots of the kids get rolled for failing something or sickness...  You know MamaB my boy bff R failed and rolled... he wound up getting the A school that he wanted just because he was in a different class.. so he was actually glad he got rolled.  Im not saying that is what has happened to you we dont know till you tell us....

NavyWife --- Is Mamas J okay?????   Well, prayers being said!!!!

  • Andysmom

My son rolled the first time as he forgot a rescue breath He was SO mad at himself because he had ALL the procedures down. He had a survivor that pulled his mask and snorkle off so he had to test without them. Instructors were impressed that he did so well but d/t the rescue breath, they had to fail him. My son was actually glad he rolled because he passed with flying colors the next time and he got Sierra. If he would have passed the 1st time, he would have got Romeo. Now he graduated Sierra yesterday, became a Petty Officer and received a $600/mo. raise. So it isn't bad to roll. I know it just get's to them-that "i failed" feeling. Good luck!
  • Mama B

WOW you ladies sure make me feel LOVED!  Visiting family in PA and haven"t been on but J did end up being rolled back, heartbreaking but he acknowledges GOD is in control. Something about his head 1 inch to far from his shoulder in one of the releases. Appreciate your prayers and thoughts, will be in touch when we hear more.
  • April

Mama B...J needs to keep thinking positive :)  He will do just fine.  He has the heart and determination!  My J said that your J is taking this as a blessing b/c it gives him a little bit more time and he will be ready to kick butt!
  • NavymomGG

Andysmom..Congratulations to you and your son !!! sooooo exciting...
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Ahhhh finally... well, Im just glad to know whats up!!  MamaB... so it will probably wind up as Andysmom said... a blessing that is what my buddys buddy R said also... it gave him the Sierra A school instead of Romeo which apparently they all like?? not sure why but anyway.. yes God is in control!!!

NavyWife.. so great that your man will continue to help and encourage him that is brotherhood!

Yes the boys love the Petty Officer !!!  Its makes them feel that what they have been through has been worth it..  and the raise aint bad either.... I told my son he has more money than I do !!1   baaahahahahahaha!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

    Happy Sonday yall!!!

I pray that this upcoming week will bring great adventures for our Sailors and peace to us mommies and wives (and dads).  Big hugs everyone!

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

MamaB-my sailor's story is the same as Andysmom.  Made a mistake when he knew the hold, got rolled to the next class and aced escapes & releases the next time through and got Sierra, which he truly wanted.  If he stayed with his original class he would have gotten Romeo.  So you keep encouraging your sailor to look for the silver lining or the reason why God has him moving to another class.  Even if he never sees the reason, gotta trust God's plan.  All will be well.
  • TexasMomof2

ChrisAmo, I think they prefer......well I know my son preferred Sierra to Romeo because Sierra has more "combat action" scenarios.  Plus Romeo involves a lot more math, calculations "whatever" is involved in learning sonar which is what makes the school longer.
  • Kyle's mom

Goodmorning all!  My Sailor classed up for FRAC/FRS today!  Said he has a test tomorrow already,  love to see him studying!  Hooyah!
  • April

    That's great news Kyle's Mom!
  • mom2four

My sailor passed today, written tomorrow and then hopefully RSS grad on Thursday!  WEE HOO!  One more step down, 8 million to go... good luck to everyone else's kiddos this week.
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

sar52 - soo kewl!!!.. Please let us know how he does and what we can do for you!!!  Also give us a heads up as to what to expect when they are attached and deployed??  That is a question I have been wondering....  SAR and RSS are different??? wet dry??? so confusing??

Mom2four.... sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!   oh boy so many prayers sista.!!!   Oh man... yes....

Kyles... kewlll, my B is now flying... 27 jumps to graduate... starting this week.. he is glad to be out of class every day and up in the air...!!!!    momma is not so happy justsayin hahahah

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Lydia-your son must be getting so excited. He is done in October, right?  My son is still in the class/studying phase of FRS.  He is still doing well, as is the whole class.  Apparently the class has an average of over 90%.  Little snafu on Friday regarding inspections, but they all got through it (finally), and this too will pass.

Kyles-I bet he is glad to finally get started with FRS.  Hope he does well...apparently the info they have to learn is very technical and need lots and lots of studying to pass the tests.  Has he mentioned if he is hitting the books?

Congrats to all the sailors who are moving along the pipeline.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Kevin - He is suppose to grad around Thanksgiving.  They are starting all their flights and jumps this week.  Makes me nervous.. I dont like airplanes nor helos!!  but he is excited and happy!   Glad to know your boy is doing well too!  Thats great.  My B said he has a 95 average at this point.  He said the guy who is a little higher than him has "lots of book smarts" but he is gonna kick his butt in the flight and jumps..  hahahahahaha

  • Kyle's mom

I think my Sailor was a bit overwhelmed at the pace of FRS, studying lots!  Says most of their class live in the same place so they can "study group" lots.  cant wait to hear all the details!  Bet he is anxious to get up in that helo too!  Only to jump out???
